History
William Stryker was a Catholic Priest who, after discovering the existence of mutants, grew to hate and fear them, but he also saw the potential they possessed. His radical views about mutants eventually got him excommunicated from the church, so he decided to fall back on his military background.
Over the years, he found himself involved in a shady organization called Weapon X, which was dedicated to the recruitment and weaponization of mutants. Eventually, Stryker found himself leading a squad of a handful of deadly mutants, including Wolverine, Sabretooth, Omega Red, and Deadpool.
Additionally, Stryker himself had been conned by the telepathic mutant, Mastermind, into believing that he was his son and promoting him to a high ranking position within Weapon X. Eventually, William and Jason began work on encoding an Adamantium alloy onto a living being's skeleton, but every test subject up to that point at failed.
Then the day came when the previously disloyal Wolverine returned, seeking revenge against Sabretooth. Stryker entertained his idea of vengeance long enough to put Wolverine through the bonding process, and then wiped his memory. After months of torturing Wolverine and breeding him to become a weapon, he grew angry enough to turn on Weapon X, slaughtering the entire staff, including Stryker.
