X-Men Vol 1 1
History
I may not actually be the "perfect angel" people always see in me, or expect me to be. I'm not even sure who I am anymore, but... I promise you this... I'm always gonna keep doing what's right, and what's best for everyone, and it's just not possible if I can't be myself...

Early Years
Warren Kenneth "Ren" Worthington III, born on the New Year's Day of 1985, is the mutant son of the wealthy and influential Warren Worthington, Jr. and his beloved wife Kathryn, neither of whom were aware that their son had developed a pair of large feathered wings from his back, not until when Warren was thirteen, the very moment they caught him trying to cut off his precious wings due to fear and the peer pressure of having to constantly hear the racist and derogative yammering of his friends, schoolmates, and teachers, who mostly despised mutants ever since the population of "their people" began to exponentially rise within their community located in Long Island, New York.
As his parents went to comfort him in his trembling fearful state, Ren was given a beacon of hope when his own father revealed to him that he was a mutant just like him, though his father lost the full function of his wings during his times as a member of the X-Division, an organization that has now evolved into the X-Men by the present. Seeing this state that the young Ren has suffered, his parents planned to transfer into a new school whom they confidently believe would treat their son a lot better than the rest of the world could. In their finalized and careful decision, the Worthingtons packed Ren's stuff as they drove to a wide mansion located in Westchester County, New York, where they introduced their son to the one and only Charles Xavier for the first time.
Under New Wings
The Worthingtons gladly handed over guardianship to Xavier until the time he reaches adulthood, enrolling Ren in his Institute for Gifted Youngsters, believing he would educate just like how he had helped his father embrace his mutant identity. He befriended several mutants including his guardian that was Xavier, and several senior students including Scott Summers, Hank McCoy, Ororo Munroe, Lorna Dane, and Jean Grey, though he would also befriend students and trainees of the same age group as his, mostly people who would be his batchmates through the years, which included Bobby Drake, Kurt Wagner, Rogue, Jubilee, Piotr Rasputin, and Kitty Pride. Not that he immediately noticed it, Ren became a local star in terms of mostly becoming the instant crush of the mansion's residents, including his closest friends, only in competition to Bobby, who interestingly also grew into liking him as he would later come out as gay.
In his first few years at the mansion, Ren appreciated his admirers as they went on to perceive him as the true living image and embodiment of an "angel," just like his father. The only personal problem that his father had to endure, was the realization that he was often being compared to his old man, someone whom he looked up to his whole life, but that very feat never immediately gave Ren a healthy opportunity to grow up into who he was and who he wanted to be, especially the thought of having Ren as a mere heir to his father's fortune and company which he finds appalling. Only Xavier and his closest friends were aware how stoic and burdened Ren had felt of being a merely shadow of his father's reputation and achievements to the general public, and in result, they never stopped loving, supporting, and giving him the sense of individuality and force of encouragement for Ren to keep loving himself for who he is, and not what most people see or expect him to be.
Rise of an Angel

Ren as Angel in his first X-Suit
Ren first joined the X-Men in the field as the appropriate title of Angel (inspired by his father's past as the short-lived but selfless Archangel), during a stealthy mission against the newer incarnation of the secretive Hellfire Club society in the Atlantic Ocean (between North America and Europe) on the very night before the new year 2000, whose scheme mainly involved covertly firing several nuclear warheads into various countries across the world as midnight strikes, hoping that they could lead the world into a better future as mutants would inevitably replace humanity as the dominant race on Earth once and if the process becomes successful.
After he and his fellow X-Men managed used their powers against the Hellfire Club in their ship, Warren unfortunately proved to be a reluctant and unconcentrated fighter despite the few years of proficient combat training which he has shown to excel at within the mansion. During the mission, the X-Men also unexpectedly joined forces with the agents of the European Defense Initiative, led by agents Psylocke and Lionheart, who also infiltrated the society as society's undercover agents. Both heroic sides were confused to each other's sudden arrivals, but miraculously, their bedlam had also interrupted the launching of the missiles, forcing the Hellfire Club's new leader Shinobi Shaw to try and deceive the X-Men into joining their cause against the Initiative as an act of stalling, knowing that Xavier would always remain true to his pacifist and egalitarianist ideologies.
However, Angel went with Psylocke as he helped her disrupt the missiles from ever launching. During the ordeal, the two were able to briefly bond and get to know each other's background, provoking a friendship and attraction (which only Ren was aware of at the time) between the two mutants from two different worlds which would last for the next following years, despite their polar opposite personalities. Their infiltration was successful, only for Shaw to launch one powerful missile into the sky as their true plan, which most of them failed to notice nor read within his thoughts by Angel's telepathic teammates. At that moment, only Warren's instincts encouraged him to do the right thing, flying up fast despite his pleading him not to do anything foolish, impulsively following the missile in high speed and maneuvering it away from its designation. With his best of efforts, Angel was willing to make the sacrifice to take the missile into the Earth's orbit with him despite realizing his body and wings couldn't handle it for too long, only for it to finally detonate when it reached the thermosphere.
Much to his teammates' horror, the unconscious Angel was falling 600 kilometers from the sky into the cold oceans of the Atlantic, but in their moment of silence, he was caught by his the efforts of his teammates, from Marvel Girl's telekinesis to Iceman's ice generation which inevitably slowed down his fall. On that day, Warren had proven that despite his hesitation to immediately deal with trouble through combat, he was no coward, or just a pretty face, in giving him life to save the lives of the helpless and innocent, be it mutant or human. As the X-Men had the guilty members of the Hellfire Club apprehended into the authorities, Angel recovered and subsequently celebrated with some of his teammates and allies their belated New Year's party in the E.D.I.'s headquarters, the Dome, Belgium, for the rest of the day.
Warren's father was initially worried upon hearing the incident, but was convinced that his son was all grown up, knowing he would end up becoming a better man than he was. Since then, Angel constant participations with the X-Men in the field against their enemies such as supremacists Magneto & his Brotherhood and anti-mutants like Mojo Adam and illegal users of Sentinels, has further improved his combat skills though it also made him use his negotiation skills more often due to his usual pacifistic approach. Thanks to his charms and improvements, Ren became one of the most beloved X-Men members in accordance to people's choice, with some even praising and idolizing to an extent that they see him as a real monotheistic angel, right until he had revealed his mutant status through a press conference, something that thankfully made him gain more public praise (though some racial discrimination and prejudice was unavoidable) but more importantly, true love and respect as a mutant.
Ultimate War
When the mysterious and diabolical Movement Alliance conducted a series of massive terrorist attacks all over the world destroying several famous and sacred landmarks. Consequently, all the Movement's opposing adversaries, the heroes, were united into creating their own Ultimate Alliance, in order to stop and prevent the Movement from commencing its schemes upon world domination and authoritarian rule, before its too late. As the attacks all over the world have continued for days and then weeks, more and more casualties are starting to increase in numbers, due to the extreme terrorism and serious devastation committed by the conflict between the Movement Alliance and its seemingly unstoppable forces against the combined forces heroes (including the X-Men) of the world, the Ultimates, who are not stopping their fight against the villains until they find a way to make them pay for their irreversible actions and restore back peace across the world.
In the event, the infamous and notorious villain of the X-Men known as Mister Sinister would intentionally led most of Magneto's loyalists into causing wreak and destruction on the city of Novi Grad, in Sokovia, without having any orders from Magneto, which immediately has gotten the attention of the X-Men, who went at the scene to figure out the situation. Little did the know, this strategy was one of the first known steps of Essex's plan as he would later unleash a larger event along with some the Earth's most powerful and villainous leaders, leading the Great Superhuman Movement. Setting their differences aside, Angel and the rest of the X-Men sided forces with Magneto's Brotherhood as the core members plan how to take out and defeat Sinister's Brotherhood faction, one of the core factors in forming the Movement.
During the gruesome battle in Sokovia, Warren and his father Archangel alongside several mutants manages to corner and weakens Mister Sinister, until Sinister absorbed the numerous powers and abilities from several mutants, causing for Sinister to successfully kill most of them, leaving Ren with his father. Warren and Ren tries to attack Sinister but they were easily defeated, leaving Warren into a critical condition for a moment. Sinister now has the upper hand on killing Ren, but Warren immediately charges onto Sinister and flies him away towards an abandoned city, crashing him towards several buildings, seemingly defeating the villain, until they accidentally crash into an active thermal power station, causing for the whole building to collapse and explode, killing and injuring a few number of civilians.
Warren is mortally wounded, but he manages to survive and is started healing rapidly, until a disfigured Sinister suddenly lunges at Warren and absorbs all of his powers, draining him including his healing factor, causing for Warren to slowly die from his injuries, but not before he secretly puts a undetectable tracker onto Sinister, before he left him to die. Warren's lifeless body was eventually founded by the X-Men, including Ren, causing for him to mourn onto his father's lifeless body, blaming himself for his death. In a pursuit for vengeance, Ren then later eventually manages to finally avenge his father after he and the rest of the X-Men successfully finds and defeats his father's killer, Sinister, in the final battle of Genosha wherein his headquarters was located.
In the aftermath of the global war against the Movement, Ren was prominently present during the burial and the memorial of fallen mutants at the garden of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, making them an inspiration to several mutants to join the X-Men to honor their memories as protectors of the mutant race. Even in death, Ren would never forget his late father, for he was the very one who kept on motivating him to become the hero, he had always wanted to be, his new and unique successor as Angel. As Ren and his teammates grieved on each their tragic losses, they could only rely on each other for comfort that they'll eventually get through this disheartening moment in due time.
Following his father's memorial, Angel had his thoughts clouded with suggestions to leave the X-Men and take a break, which were supported when he went to visit his long-time friend and unconfessed love interest Betsy Braddock in the Dome, Belgium, who also went through the same when her father Sir James Braddock was revealed to be another casualty during the war. Angel and his core teammates visited the Braddocks on Sir James' wake and funeral, where they respectively paid condolences to each other's losses. Listening to Betsy's advice, Ren left the X-Men and the mansion for an indefinite time, which Professor Xavier himself had encouraged for the sake of his and his other students' mental and physical recovery, and in his spare times, try taking over the family company, just as his relatives had once expected him to do in his father's passing.
Powers and Abilities
Powers
Homo Superior Physiology: Warren is a mutant who possesses large avian wings on his back (spanning sixteen feet from wingtip to wingtip), strong enough to carry him and a passenger aloft. The wings have a very flexible skeletal structure, enabling him to press them to the back of his torso and legs with only the slightest bulge visible under his clothing. He also has heightened strength, speed, agility, reflexes, coordination, balance, endurance, and eyesight. Initially, he only had the ability of winged flight, but later gained a healing factor, possibly coming from his secondary mutation. With this newly-gained ability, Warren had the ability to heal all kinds of injuries both physical and mental in nature.
