Volstagg is one of the greatest warriors to ever join the Asgardian militia. His large build makes him a difficult and intimidating opponent. He would go on to befriend other talented warriors, Hogun and Fandral, with whom he formed the Warriors Three.
Together, the Warriors Three became the trusted allies of Prince Thor. Volstagg was devastated when Thor was banished to Midgard, and accompanied Lady Sif on the mission to retrieve him. However, they learned Thor desired to stay on Midgard, and Volstagg vowed to protect Asgard in his absence.
He did the best he could. But nothing could have prepared him for the arrival of Hela. He and Fandral were guarding the Bifrost Citadel when she arrived, and quickly slaughtered both of them before besieging the rest of the realm.

- Volstagg is the only member of the Warriors Three, and one of the only other Asgardians, to ever prove worthy of lifting Thor's hammer Mjolnir.
