- — Cylossus (Victor Rasputin) to Nightclops (Scott Grayson) on the attack on the H.I.V.E. base by the X-Titans
Victor Rasputin is a Russian-American immigrant, one day he was in a bad accident and in the accident was able to save half his body from being destroyed by debris via activating his meta-human genes and shifting his body into metal. Unfortunately the other half of Victor's body was badly damaged, fortunately for Victor, his father Silas Rasputin is a scientist who was able to cover the damaged half of Victor's body in metal to keep him alive. Eventually Victor now going under the name Cylossus would meet Nightclops (Scott Grayson) who invited him to join his team of meta-humans that save other meta-humans called the X-Titans. Victor presumably wanting to do some good with his life agreed and later met fellow team member Stormbird (Ororo Roth).
Victor like the rest of the X-Titans would have a rivalry with Magne-Terra (Terra Lehnsherr)'s team of meta-humans who had the same goal but different ways of going about it the Sisterhood of Evil Meta-humans. Victor in particular would have a rivalry with Sisterhood member Cindernaut, whose body was made nearly entirely out of metal like his. Victor would often remark that Cindernaut is a "tough opponent to beat" but would fortunately always have a back up plan when coming against him.
One day, the X-Titans got a tip off about the weapons H.I.V.E. and how it was experimenting on meta-humans and along with that hunting many of them down. Victor along with his teammates Scott and Ororo headed to the base, there Scott and Victor waited for Ororo's signal before going to open the door. Victor however was only able to open it enough for Scott and Ororo to get in there and then stayed behind to provide a distraction for the guards. However while fighting the guards the Sisterhood arrived and Victor fought Cindernaut who threw him through a wall to where his fellow X-Titans members were. Victor apologized to Scott about having been thrown once again remarking that Cindernaut is a tough opponent to beat however as usual he had a back up plan and managed to free a meta-human by the name of Beasterine (Logan Garfield).
Victor remarked that the meta-human he freed would also be tough to beat but not for the X-Titans but rather for the Sisterhood. However the chaos that Logan was causing alerted H.I.V.E. head Stryker Blood who unleashed his minions Sabremammoth (Victor Flinders) and JinxStryke. After Logan helped Scott snap out of a doubt filled anxiety attack, Scott had Victor help him free a meta-human possessed by the phoenix force named Star Phoenix (Kori Grey). After Kori helped them get everyone aside from H.I.V.E. and the Sisterhood out of there she joined the team.
Sometime later, Scott got another tip off that Magne-Terra was planning to kill meta-human hunter, trapper, and experimenter Bolivar Light. Knowing that if she did this, this would only make meta-humans look worse Victor and the team followed after the Sisterhood and stopped Magne-Terra as she was going to monologue to Light before killing him. However during an argument between the X-Titans and the Sisterhood, Light activated his "Sentinel of Light" causing the X-Titans and the Sisterhood to have to team up. During the battle Victor to help JinxStryke threw Logan at the sentinel's hand so he could destroy it, earning a skeptical but appreciative look from JinxStryke both towards Logan and Victor.
Eventually both teams managed to destroy the sentinel however Terra was still stuck on killing Light. At which point it was revealed that Kori was still asleep at home and the Kori they had been with on the mission was really a spy and a member of the Sisterhood (along with Kori's sister) Star Stique (Koman Darkhölme). Koman then trapped Victor and the others in place as Terra prepared to kill Light however after Light revealed all the reasons that killing him would be bad for the public's perception of meta-humans she instead threw him in the air for the X-Titans to save before leaving.
