Originally the Avengers, they were founded after the Chitauri invasion by the seven heroes who responded to the crisis, while later there were four add-ups. The team was reformed and renamed Ultimates after the Olympian invasion into Earth. The team was originally headquartered in the The Avengers Tower, and after its destruction has given the same name to all of their subsequent bases.

As the Avengers, the heroes who together worked for the best interests of Earth. Originally consisting of the seven heroes that fought the Chitauri invasion, and then eleven after the Kree-Skrull war, the group was renamed Ultimates and expanded after the Olympian invasion to include all of Earth's heroes, as well superheroes across the universe.
