Iron Man was a former superhero from Earth-70238 who later became a government tool.

History[]

Tony Stark's life was similar to his Earth-616 counterpart. When the controversial Superhero Registration Act was created, Iron Man led the Pro-Registration against Captain America. In the aftermath, Iron Man became a government tool.

In 2028, when Spider-Man briefly resumed his vigilantism to defeat Venom when he killed Mary Jane Watson, Iron Man warned him not to do this again. At some point after, Stark retired as Iron Man.

When Spider-Man resumed his superhero activities in 2058, President Norman Osborn sent Stark to deal with the problem. Stark at first ordered Mayor Waters to do something about it. He also warned Spider-Man that his vigilantism would not be tolerated much longer, opting to do so as Iron Man, not believing the wall crawler would take an old man like Tony Stark seriously.

After Waters' "Sinner Six" were defeated and Spider-Man embarrassed the government by ensuring New York City was one of the best-fed and restored city in America in the aftermath of Electro creating a blackout, Stark was sent to deal with the problem directly.

Soon Iron Man and Spider-Man became embroiled in a battle, and, when Clint Barton shot Iron Man using an arrowhead that hated into his arc reactor, Spider-Man emerges the winner before he seemingly died by a heart attack while Iron Man was able to get his arc reactor back online.
