History

They promised that if I took care of Amy, they'd give us second chance... The chance to reshape her anew, into a better daughter... They've always promised what's best for us, Nico... And they have never failed...
Tina Minoru

Early Years

Tina Minoru was once a reputable Master of the Mystic Arts and a former Master of the Hong Kong Sanctum, who also became a member (along with her husband Robert) of the secret cult-like group known as the Pride, a "satanic-worshiping" society in the guise of charity organization based in Los Angeles, California. On the day of her and Robert's honeymoon, the couple was summoned by ancient, extradimensional beings who called themselves the "Gibborim" to be mystical members of the Pride, as they promised the couple power, wealth, and eternal life, albeit the condition of "selling their souls" once they completely failed to fulfill their orders.

Despite feeling initially doubtful due to her secret long-time allegiance with the Masters of the Mystic Arts since she was younger, the Gibborim revealed that already knew her lineage in the line of sorcerer ancestors, and as they brought up the secret sorcerer organization, they instructed her to maintain her position as a Master of the Mystic Arts, guaranteeing that her ulterior motives won't get caught even by the likes of even Ancient One herself, since they enhanced Tina's magical knowledge with their own, giving her various access and knowledge to what would later be revealed as demonic sorcery (mainly Hellfire and other forms of "black magic").

Pride, Inc.

As members of the Pride, the Minorus used their dark arts to assist in ruling the Los Angeles underworld, sacrificing to the Gibborim via the Rite of Blood and Thunder, protecting their turf, and disposing of threats to their power, while in return use their insurmountable wealth to maintain their public persona and facade as positive and altruistic around the community of California, making Pride's front a reputable charity-based organization for decades. In time, the lasting greed and lust for power in sorcery has made the Minorus' trust and loyalty toward the Gibborim and their promises a lot stronger even more than their own love for each other as a married couple, and later more than their own children: Amy and Nico.

Such unbreakable faithfulness was later proven as Tina herself had brutally (although reluctantly) killed Amy and subsequently sacrificed her to the Gibborim, simply out of preventing her from exposing Pride's true intentions to anyone outside Pride's inner circle, because once if they let it happen, Pride and the rest of their families would instantly die at the hands of the Gibborim. Unfortunate for the Minorus and Pride, this would be their first and most unfortunate mistake yet. Heavily burdened after secretly getting Amy killed, Tina distanced herself from Nico, while Robert tried his best to comfort both his wife and daughter since losing Amy in their family.

Runaways

However, Tina and Nico were able to slightly bond when the latter discovered the Staff of One, as Tina would carefully yet passionately teach Nico how to wield it. Like the rest of Pride, Tina confronted the Runaways by the moment their children were on the verge of exposing their true crimes as Pride, just after knowing their origins. Nico was eventually informed of the truth behind the death of Amy, in which the rest of Pride came to confess that Tina was responsible for killing her own daughter in order to keep the entire Pride from getting slain by the Gibborim, Nico bitterly swore revenge on her own parents along with the mastermind that were the Gibborim, before she and the rest of Pride's children ran away into the unknown regions beyond Los Angeles, far away from their homes in pursuit of clearing their names and exposing their parents' secret diabolical acts of villainy. Pride's chase of the Runaways lasted for months.

Devils Among Us

After barely listening to the doubts and skepticism of their children towards their sacrilegious cause, Pride would later end up investigating and discovering the revelation that they were founded by the Hell Lords, demonic beings who were referred to as Satan (among other godly, religious titles such as the "Gibborim") on Earth, as the replacement for the now treacherous and defunct House of Hellstrom since Marduk Kurios, a former Satan, betrayed the Hell Lords and subsequently secede from them as he planned to overthrow the Hell Lords' current roster for his own personal gain. Upon digging up Kurios' remains on Earth at the Kurios Mansion (in Lake Fire, Massachusetts), Pride now aims to succeed what Kurios has failed to do, challenging and on a long shot, defeating the Hell Lords after discovering just how Pride were deceived into believing the Devils' lies. Discovering the truth behind the Gibborim and Pride's newfound goal, the Runaways sought mystical help to stop their parents from causing further death and destruction.

Final Stand

After nine months, the Runaways came to confront their parents at the former's headquarters, one last time, with the assistance of Doctor Strange and the Hellstrom twins. Tina and Robert took their last stand in their underground headquarters along with the rest of Pride during the last session of the Rite of Thunder, which tried to resurrect the soul of the fallen Hell Lord that was Satan, the Hellstrom twins' father. Their last act was to control the resurrected Hell Lord as a way to try and break their deal with the rest of the Devils, allowing Nico and the Runaways to escape with the Doctor Strange and the Hellstroms. Despite Tina's powerful and almost overpowered knowledge and experience in sorcery, their goal of resurrecting the soul of Satan as an ally was easily taken advantage of by the Hell Lords, who revealed that they've already gotten "bored" of followers trying to betray them, thus giving them the idea to betray Pride first in order to set an example for their future followers.

Mindless Ones

As a result of the Hell Lords betrayal, Tina and Robert were transported by Hell Lord Mephisto in the Dark Dimension, Dormammu, and as they couple tried to attack the Faltine despot with their dark arts, they realized that their magical shots and blasts are only empowering Dormammu by the second they kept shooting him, instead of weakening him. In the end, the Minorus' energy were absorbed by the Lord of the Dark Dimension with ease, before converting them into one of his Mindless Ones. Unfortunately, the Minorus were later seen to be effortlessly destroyed by the Avengers in their rocky astral form during Dormammu's momentary return to invade Earth for the second time, something that was secretly made possible by Mordo, Tina's former comrade sorcerer within the Masters of the Mystic Arts.

Trivia

  • Tina Minoru shared a similar fate with Kaecilius, a former comrade of her as a Masters of the Mystic Arts who ended up becoming a Mindless One after failing to serve Dormammu. Interestingly enough, both of them met their fates at the same day during Dormammu's second return on Earth, dying as Mindless Ones.
