For as long as I remember, I just wanted to do what was right. I guess I'm not quite sure what that is anymore.
Steve Rogers is an American male and the alter ego to Captain America. He was transformed into a super soldier after being rejected to fight in the war due to being scrawny. He is a member of the Avengers.
History[]
Early Life[]
Steve was born in June 13, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York. His dad was a WWI soldier. His mom has to raise him by herself while Joseph was at war. A few months later, two military officers came to the Rogers residence. It was confirmed that Joseph had died during his service in WWI. Sarah was devastated and wept while Steve overheard the conversation. A few months after than, Sarah was diagnosed with pneumonia and died a month after. Steve was put into an orphanage where he met another boy and later his best friend, Bucky Barnes.
Project: Rebirth[]
20 years later, during World War II, Steve tried to join the U.S army after seeing news footage of the war's destruction, but was rejected because of his frailty. A German scientist and co-founder of a American war agency called the S.S.R, Abraham Erskine was impressed by his plea to fight for his country, so Erskine asked Steve to volunteer in a top-secret project called Project: Rebirth.
After his training at Camp Lehigh, Steve was ready for the project. In the final treatment at one of the S.S.R secret bases, Steve was injected a serum that Erskine invented called the Super-Soldier Serum. Steve was put in the vita-ray chamber which would dose him with vita-rays. When the experiment was finished, Steve emerged from the chamber, with a perfect muscular human body, proving that the serum worked. Minutes later, a Nazi spy, Heinz Kruger shot Erskine in the chest. Erskine died of his wounds. Steve pursued the spy in the streets of Brooklyn. Steve finally caught up to Kruger and demanded to know who the spy was. Kruger said he was "the first of many." Before the interrogation could be finished, Kruger put a cyanide capsule in his mouth to kill himself before Steve could get any more answers.
The Birth of Captain America[]
Instead of putting Rogers out into the battlefield, he is used to promote war bonds across the United States using the name known as Captain America.
