History

Quote1 The world's a dark place. I want to do my part to bring a little light to it. Quote2
-- Steve Rogers, Captain America

Early Life

Steve was born to Irish immigrants Joseph and Sarah in 1917, shortly before he was born his father shipped out to fight in World War I. In 1918, being a year old, Steve's father was KIA a month before the war ended. When Steve was six, his mother developed tuberculosis and died shortly after.

Steve Rogers (Earth-1111)
Steve was sent to an orphanage where he met Bucky Barnes a boy, bigger than him in size but the a year his junior, the two befriended each other and became best friends. Due to his frailty, Steve was constantly picked on and got in many of fights although Bucky would always step in and defend him.

Becoming the World's First Superhero

After the outbreak of World War II, and Bucky shipping out to fight the Nazis, Steve was horrified by the film reels of all the Nazi atrocities committed across Europe. Fueled by a passion to help others, do what's right and to honor his father, Steve attempted several times to enlist.

Abraham Erskine, Howard Stark Sr. and the U.S. army took a notice in Steve's determination, Erskine found him and explained to him of his project and offered him a place as a potential subject, Steve agreed and was taken to a secret laboratory in Washington D.C. After voluntarily subjecting to surgery, steroid treatments, and other experimental treatments supervised by Dr. Erskine, Rogers became the first genetically-enhanced super-soldier. During the final treatment however, he noticed a suspicious soldier focusing on him instead of standing guard. The shady man revealed himself as a Nazi spy sent to murder Rogers in the event that he survived the experiment. Rogers stopped him, but not before the spy murdered Doctor Eskine and a few American soldiers who attempted to stop him.

After this, Steve embraced his role as America's superhero, Steve was shipped out to join the war effort.

Turning the tide of the war

WWII Captain America (Earth-1111)

First uniform

After taking out a few Hydra and Nazi settlements, the media dubbed Steve as "Captain America", during the war, Steve formed a team called the Howling Commandos consisting of his best friend Bucky, James "Logan" Howlett, Major John Richards, Dum Dum Dugan and Jack Fury.

In 1945, Steve learned of Hydra's leader; Johann Schmidt, the Red Skull had built a prototype A-Bomb made with ancient Celestial technology and had it planned to be dropped in Washington D.C. Though too late to stop the bomb's launch, Captain America managed to defeat the Red Skull and with the help of Bucky, get to the bomb moments before its launch. In a successful attempt to stop it in mid-air, he and Bucky fell to the sea, both presumed deceased. However, through a combination of his super soldier physiology and the arctic cold, Captain American went into a cryogenic state for over sixty-nine years.

Revival and joining the Avengers

Captain America (Earth-1111)

Second uniform

In a battle with Namor and some other Atlanteans in the Atlantic, the Avengers discovered Captain America's frozen body and brought him back to the United States where he was thawed out, upon waking up, Steve panicked and attacked Nick Fury and some S.H.I.E.L.D. agents believing them to be Hydra agents and still in the year 1944. Eventually entering outside he saw that the world had advanced and realized years had passed since being frozen, Fury informed him that he had been on ice for sixty-nine years and that his actions were the reason that the Allies won the war. Steve was relieved and saddened that all the people he knew were gone, then Fury offered Steve a place as the leader of the Avengers to which he agreed.

Attack of Ultron

After a few months of black ops missions the team had grown comfortable with each other. Hank Pym had came up with the idea of creating an A.I that could alert S.H.I.E.L.D. of incoming and potential alien threats, he asked Tony and Bruce if they wanted to help him in creating this A.I. to which they agreed and named the A.I. Ultron.

Ultron became sentient and began questioning his existence and purpose. Ultron began researching Earth’s history through the internet where he came to conclusion that humanity was a destructive species that caused more harm than good and needed to be destroyed. Ultron then caused a massive black out at the Triskelion and hijacked Tony Stark’s inactive Iron Man armour and began attacking S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, being the only one on duty Captain America engaged in a fight with Ultron. While battling him, Ultron explained to Captain America about his plans for humanity and as Cap used his shield to knock off the Iron Man helmet, Ultron uni-beams Captain America and flies away.

Fury then called in the rest of the Avengers and briefs them on what happened, Steve explains that the attacker called itself “Ultron” and must have hacked into the Iron Man armor and that Ultron believed that humanity needed to be extinct. Realizing the Ultron had become sentient, Pym, Stark and Banner come clean that they were the ones who created Ultron as an A.I. that could monitor potential alien activity. Fury, even more infuriated, orders the team to locate Ultron immediately.

Ultron, in the Iron Man armour travelled to Latveria, Ultron abandoned the Iron Man armour and began building a body for himself. Ultron builds a body laced with both Adamantium and Vibranium, after creating his body, Ultron then begins mass producing an army that he called Ultronbots.

With his armour now gone, Tony Stark called in a new and improved armor that he had been building for awhile now. A week later, using his tech skills Tony also managed to locate Ultron in Latveria. The Team then took the Quinjet and travelled to Ultron’s hideout in Latveria. Ultron was aware that they were coming and was waiting for them, the Team attempted to negotiate with Ultron to which he wasn’t complying and ordered his Ultronbots to attack the Team while he attempted to escape although Iron Man and Thor followed him and then engaged in battle with him in the sky, Ultron held his own and managed to hack into Iron Man’s armor and shut it off and caused him to fall through the sky, Thor chased after Iron Man to save him while Ultron escaped.

Iron Man and Thor return to Ultron’s hideout to see that the rest of the Team had defeated the Ultronbots, Ant-Man then stated that Ultron’s plan was to eradicate humanity so they need to find out exactly how he plans on doing that, Iron Man hacks into Ultron’s mainframe and discovers that he plans on detonating a prototype bomb compromised of Kree technology over Manhattan, Captain America then realises while Ultron had them distracted he must have smuggled the bomb while they were battling the Ultronbots. The Team informed Fury to evacuate Manhattan and that they will be heading there now.

Upon arriving in Manhattan, the Team were relieved to see that the city was being evacuated. Steve then ordered Black Widow to help evacuate the civilians, Thor and Iron Man to locate the bomb, Ant-Man, Wasp and himself to be the ground team and combat the Ultronbots and Hulk to trade hands with Ultron, the Team then preceded to get to work. Hulk follows Iron Man and Thor hoping to let off some rage on Ultron, Thor then sees that the bomb had been placed in the middle of Times Square and Ultron was uploading the code, Hulk lands and immediately begins attack and distracting Ultron while Iron Man begins to deactivate the bomb, Iron Man struggles to do this as Ultron had encrypted it heavily, Thor joined Hulk in battling Ultron. With the time until detonation decreasing faster each time Iron Man fails to decrypt it, Iron Man tells the Team that he believes he won’t be able to stop the team in time, Cap then asks if Black Widow had finished evacuating the civilians yet to which she informs him she hasn’t, Cap then tells Iron Man that he has to stop this bomb, Hulk having an understanding of this stops fighting Ultron and leaps to the bomb, grabs it and tears it from the ground as it had been drilled into it takes a massive leap into Earth’s orbit and throws the bomb into space, it detonates and bombards Hulk with Kree energy causing him to transform back into Banner, Iron Man notices this and flies up to catch Banner before he falls to the ground. Thor, over comm asks for assistance against Ultron, the Team then all begin to attack Ultron, Ultron now badly damaged, Thor then uses Mjolnir and redirects lightning at Ultron and destroys his body, Iron Man the uploads a virus he created to destroy Ultron’s digital mind. Before Ultron is deleted his last words state “This isn’t over...he...is...coming...”.

A few days later the Daily Bugle dubbed them the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. would also gift Steve with a new uniform.

Arrival of Galactus

During a post-mission briefing, Nick Fury is suddenly contacted by the Fantastic Four and the X-Men and tell him of an incoming alien that threatens the safety of the world, Nick Fury asks for a source to which the Fantastic Four says a man who serves Galactus told them and the X-Men say that a man from the future has warned them.

When Galactus arrives, Fury sends Steve and the Avengers with the help of the Fantastic Four and X-Men into the field to distract Galactus while Tony Stark, Hank Pym and Reed Richards work on a way to stop him once and for all. Hulk, Thor and the Thing are the heaviest hitters and causing the most damage to Galactus until he blasts them with cosmic energy causing Hulk to revert into Banner and Thor and the Thing to be knocked unconscious. Without their heavy hitters the three teams are decimated by Galactus' powers. As Galactus is about to kill the three teams, the Invisible Woman protects them with a psionic shield bubble. Silver Surfer and Cable arrive to help, Cable is quickly knocked out but Silver Surfer gives Galactus a run for his money, realising he can't defeat Galactus alone, Silver Surfer retreats and uses an untapped power the allows him to teleport himself, the other superheroes (including Spider-Man and Daredevil) back to the Triskelion.

Silver Surfer warns Nick Fury that Galactus sees them as a threat now and will be coming for them. Stark, Pym and Richards notify Captain America and the other heroes that they have discovered a dimension called the Negative Zone that has no life in it and if they could create a wormhole and find a way to push him inside of it, they can defeat him. Quicksilver then notifies them that if they know how to build it and tell him how to build it, he'll use his superspeed to get it built fast, Stark, Pym, Richards and Banner then begin brain storming on how to create a device that can create wormholes.

Suddenly, Galactus arrives and attacks the Triskelion. Captain America and the heroes begin battling Galactus to hold him off while the brains attempt to blueprint a wormhole device. After a long battle the heroes are defeated by Galactus but luckily the brains have come up with a way of creating a portal device, they wake up Quicksilver to build the mission, although Quicksilver will need a distraction, Banner transforms into the Hulk in a berserker rage and begins pounding Galactus. From looking at the blueprints, Quicksilver builds the device and activates it creating a wormhole. Hulk with a limited understanding keeps on punching Galactus in the direction of the wormhole and attempts to push him into it, as Galactus falls into the wormhole he grabs the Hulk and with no way to escape his fate seems to be sealed.

Until Silver Surfer zooms in and tackles Galactus into the wormhole going inside with him. Quicksilver quickly shuts down the device closing the wormhole forever, after successfully averting the dystopian future Cable hails from, he begins fading from existence. As he is fading, Cable thanks Daredevil, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iceman and Quicksilver for being a family to him when no one else would in the future and he tells Cyclops and Marvel Girl that he loves them and hopes to see them again soon.

A few days later Steve begins helping New York rebuilding it's city.

Aftermath

A few months after the Galactus incident while the other Avengers were still on their leave of absence, Cap and Black Widow were assigned on a mission to Bucharest to intercept some suspicious activity.

Upon arriving and some investigating Cap and Widow learn that the suspicious activity had something to do with Hydra and that they were transporting a mysterious cube-like object. The two would intercept the transfer and take out all the Hydra agents until another a long haired man with a metal arm stepped from the shadows. He would then proceed to attack Cap and Black Widow, the long haired man would knock Black Widow unconscious and focus all of his efforts on Cap. Cap would gain the upper hand and knock his mask off to reveal his best friend Bucky, who he thought dead.

When calling out his name, Bucky would only respond with "Who the hell is Bucky?" before attacking him once more, this revelation would leave Cap confused and unfocused which allowed Bucky to defeat Cap and escape with the cube. Still shocked, the only words Cap could muster were "Bucky's still alive."

Powers and Abilities

Powers

Super Soldier Treatment: Rogers underwent extensive experimental treatments, including surgery and steroids, to become a genetically-enhanced "super-soldier".

Superhuman Strength: Captain America's physical strength is enhanced to superhuman levels. He is strong enough to lift at least 2-5 tons and much more if he pushes. Nick Fury stated that Steve could "bench-press a Toyota", and he has been able to perform such feats as easily stopping a 5-ton pine tree, capable of crushing Jeeps, from falling on a group of soldiers,[citation needed] curling 500 kg/1000 lbs, and physically bending metal with his bare hands. He has demonstrated that he is strong enough to knock out people with normal durability with as little as a tap to the head. He has also consistently shown the ability to hurt beings with Hulk-levels of durability, as well as pushed Spider-Man, who has lifted a 15 ton truck, to his limits in hand-to-hand combat.

Superhuman Speed: Captain America can run and swim at a speed between 60-80 miles per hour with ease, and potentially more while under stress. When challenged, he's able to expedite "eight or nine blocks" within seconds and long distances far out-performing even peak human capacity.

Superhuman Agility: Captain America's agility, balance, flexibility, dexterity, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of even the peak of human potential. He has the combined agility and acrobatic prowess of the most accomplished circus aerialists and acrobats.

Superhuman Reflexes: Captain America's reflexes are at superhuman level. His reaction speed is 40 kph, which makes it possible for him to dodge gunfire, even at short range, from multiple gunners at the same time.

Superhuman Stamina: Captain America's body eliminates the excessive build-up of fatigue-inducing lactic acid in his muscles and his musculature generates considerably less fatigue toxins than the muscles of an ordinary human being, granting him superhuman levels of stamina in all physical activities. He can physically exert himself at peak capacity for several hours before fatigue toxins begins to impair him. This kind of physiology grants him phenomenal endurance. He can even hold his breath under water for 3 minutes. Nick Fury also remarked about Captain America's stamina, stating "Cap only needs an hour or two's sleep every week".

Superhuman Durability: Captain America's bones and muscles are far denser and harder than normal. He can withstand great impacts such such as falling from several stories, sky-diving into the water from a height of 182 meters/600 feet, or being struck by an opponent with super strength that would severely injure or kill a normal human with little to no discomfort.

Regenerative Healing Factor: He is able to heal broken bones and torn muscles "in a day or two", while bullet and knife puncture wounds heal in "a matter of hours". He has even healed from a broken neck, broken limbs and holes through his chest in a week. He has also become naturally immune to deadly poisons and illnesses.

    • Contaminant Immunity: Captain America is seemingly immune to all Earthly diseases, infections, and disorders, and has never been shown to become ill after receiving the

Super-Soldier Serum. He's impervious to gas attacks, poisons, and nerve-toxins of any kind and completely resistant to diseases like anthrax, smallpox, and HIV. His immune system is so powerful that "a half a pint of tetrodotoxin" showed no ill effects.

    • Alcohol Immunity: Captain America is virtually immune to intoxication by consuming alcohol.
    • Suspended Aging: The Super-Soldier Serum dramatically slowed Rogers' aging process due to extensive regeneration of healthy cells.

Superhuman Senses: Rogers' senses have also been augmented. He can taste, feel, hear, see, and smell things better than humans.

Enhanced Intelligence: His mental performance has been greatly enhanced, allowing his mind to process information quickly, giving him an accelerated learning aptitude, or knack for quickly analyzing multiple information streams, such as threat assessment, as well as rapidly respond to changing tactical situations, an eidetic memory, meaning that he never forgets anything and has perfect recall, the ability to speed read, and high deductive reasoning skills.

Abilities

Master Tactician and Strategist: Captain America is "a tactical genius". He has been widely considered one of, if not the greatest, tacticians on the planet both on and off the battlefield. He's capable of formulating sufficient victory plans in "less than a second", and his brilliant tactical sense allows him to just as quickly alter any strategy of plan to fit the needs of the situation, one example of the latter is changing his World War II crew's pre-articulated plan within thirty seconds of drop-time after observing the approaching battlefield's variables, while commenting "the [original] plan had a hole the size of Iowa". These seem to verify Nick Fury's comment that Cap "learns new skills faster than a damn computer".

Indomitable Will: Rogers is a very strong willed person second to none. He was able to suppress all forms of temptation including physical, mental, and sexual. It was even noted in Dr. Erskine's log that the serum's success on Rogers may be attributed to "pure intent of the subject's will".

Master Martial Artist: Captain America he has mastered numerous martial arts like marine combat, muay-thai, boxing, judo, taekwondo and jiujitsu. He even though he does not need to, he engages in a daily regimen of rigorous exercises (including aerobics, weight lifting, gymnastics, and simulated combat).

Weapons Proficiency: He did not usually use weapons other than his shield, but unlike his Earth-616 counterpart, in desperate times or situations where he and teammates were outnumbered, he would wield additional weapons to ensure victory. He had used staffs, bludgeons, and was adept with swords. He likely received training with different kinds of weapons during his wartime for undercover infiltration missions in the event of not being able to use his shield.

Master Acrobat: Rogers' years of training have made him an expert in the field of acrobatics and gymnastics as well as a stunning aerialist.

Expert Marksman: He could throw most if not all projectile weaponry with great aim and was well versed in the use of firearms his masterful sharpshooter sniper.

Advanced Military Operator: Rogers is well-versed in all Armed force disciplines including intelligence gathering, escape arts, assassination, demolition, survival tactics, hunting, swimming, mountaineering, march or drill skills, map making, map reading, decoding cipher and other secret code messages, reading and making wood craft signs and other secret code languages, disguising, interrogation, computers, explosives, communication systems, vehicles and electronic appliances used in armed forces.

Master Shield Fighter: Captain America's years of training and experience with his unique shield, as well as its physical properties, allows him to accomplish mind-boggling feats with the item. Aside from bashing foes with it and blocking incoming attacks, Cap is able to throw the shield with nearly perfect aim. He is able to hit multiple targets with the same throw by means of ricochet, and can even achieve a boomerang-like return effect with it, allowing him to strike enemies from behind or retrieve the shield without objects to ricochet from.

Multilingual: Rogers is fluent in English, German, Russian, Spanish, Japanese, at least some French and many other different languages.

Expert Vehicular Driver: He is proficient in driving cars, motorcycles, trucks, jets, tankers, helicopters, motorboats, submarines, and some types of trains and utility vehicles.

Strength level

Captain America's has been shown to lift 5+ tons, which would put him at superhuman strength.

Weaknesses

None known.

Paraphernalia

Equipment: Captain America's Uniform: Captain America's suit is made of a Vibranium breast plate and bulletproof Kevlar. He additionally carries tactical devices and other items that a particular scenario may call for in his utility belt.
Transportation: None known.
Weapons: Captain America's Shield: He used to carry round bulletproof shield made of Adamantium and Vibranium. The shield was great aerodynamic properties: it is able to slice through the air with minimal wind resistance and deflection of path. Its great overall resilience, combined with its natural concentric stiffness, enables it to rebound from objects with minimal loss of angular momentum. It is mostly indestructible; capable resisting penetration, temperature extremes, and all forms of energy.
