History

Spirit is an Australian superhero and a member of the Hero Defense League of Australia.

Early life

Gary Wilson was born in Melbourne. As a child, he found ancient cultures fascinating and dreamed of becoming an archaeologist. When he was eventually able to realize his dream, he began searching for Aboriginal artefacts. However, while digging in Queensland, he fell into a cave. While exploring he ran into the ghost of Terry Jones, a criminal who had become trapped in the cave. By possessing Gary he was able to escape. However, he found that he was unable to exit from Gary's body.

HDLA

Gary managed to revert back to Human form and began working on ways to control his ghost powers. He realized that he could not do so without Terry's help and so they agreed to help each other. Once he had mastered his powers, Gary then became the superhero known as the Spirit. He was contacted by the Government in the hopes of convincing him to join them. Gary refused at first, but when World War III started, he changed his mind.
