Trivia[]
- The film features its own depiction of the iconic "The Night Gwen Stacy Died" (June–July 1973) comic arc.
- The marketing and advertising of the film mostly depicts Electro as the primary antagonist, although later in the film, it would still reveal that the main antagonist turned out to be Norman Osborn (and Oscorp, collectively) all along, as the latter's insanity becomes more apparent and his tragic backstory is slowly unveiled in the third act.
- The film features the first appearances of Spider-Man rogues: Scorpion, Sandman, and Kraven the Hunter, albeit merely as minor and/or cameo roles and appearances.
- Scorpion, Max Gargan, is a mob boss and one of Oscorp's discreet potential buyers who crossed paths with Spider-Man after exposing his superhuman enhancements to the authorities. Shortly after a brief battle with Spider-Man, Marko was apprehended by S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives, led by Captain America and Black Widow.
- Sandman, Flint Marko, was a escaped convict who willingly became one of the notable tests subjects for Oscorp, in order to escape a life in prison. He has since escaped after a brief encounter with Spider-Man, gaining the attention of the authorities after him.
- Kraven appeared in the film's ending, being hired by the mysterious Man in the Shadows to "hunt the spider" after the web-slinger's reputation was stained by the film's third act, confronting the unhinged Norman Osborn.
- In the film's third act, it was revealed to Peter by Osborn that he was responsible for the death of the former's parents due to them attempting to expose Oscorp's secret unethical and illegal actions to the authorities.
- This film features the first appearance of the Venom symbiote in this Marvel Cinematic Universe, being a former candidate that Oscorp had "developed" as a possible cure for his late wife's disease, even after her death from a terminal illness.
