History
Slade Thanson was a mercenary working for the U.S. Army sent to hunt a Warlord who went to villages and killed off half the population. Slade chased the warlord but every time he seemingly caught up to him, the warlord would slip by unnoticed. Slade eventually got sick and tired of playing this game of "cat and mouse" and so the military offered him the chance to get enhanced using a new serum they had been working on. Slade agreed to use it and ended up getting new abilities that including enhanced strength, speed, and a regenerative healing factor. Eventually Slade finally caught up the warlord and as he was about to kill him the warlord began manically laughing to Slade's confusion.
The warlord told Slade that he was doing all this for no reason as at all the villages he presumably killed half the population off at now had thriving ecosystems. He informed Slade that sure while killing half a population was barbaric and genocidal it was for the good of all the universe and the only way a population such as those could survive. Slade began to process this logic leaving him off guard which the warlord took as his chance and shot Slade in the eye causing Slade to kill the warlord. However the warlord's words had stuck with Slade and now he created his own mission to kill off half the population of the entire world and gathered his own following of people who believed in his cause.
At some point in time, Slade adopted Gamora Lawton a person who had been similarly enhanced except her skin turned green instead of purple. However eventually Gramora upon seeing how much emotional pain the deaths of half the population put people through she betrayed Slade and they battled. However Slade unwilling to let this stop him impaled Gamora with her own sword but he did not want to kill her and so left her alive. Some more time later he gained an apprentice in the form of Magne-Terra (Terra Lehnsherr), however the 2 often disagreed about how to do things due to him still being mostly human and she being a meta-human causing her to break ties with him and form her own group.
Due to Slade's beliefs he would also often come into conflict with the Avenging League and presumably lost many battles to them.
