History
Mantis is a monstrous freak of nature, villian and brother to Dragonfly.
Early life
Sergei Drevin, like his older brother Dimitri, was born in St. Petersburg. However once he discovered that his brother was a "Mutant freak" he ran away out of shame. Eventually he was discovered by Dr. Nicodemus a mad scientist and was coerced by him into being one of his assistants.
Becoming a Mantis
However due to Nicodemus's habit of using most of his assistants as his experiments Sergei soon found himself regretting his choice of lifestyle. Nicodmus spliced Sergei's DNA with that of a preying mantis. Sergei's skin became hard and chitinous, his jaws became tough and enlarged, he sprouted anntenae and wings and two razor sharp admantium strength blades emerged from just above his wrists. Unfortunately for Sergei as additional parts began to grow, his brain began to shrink, leading him to become a drooling imbecile, in otherwords a perfect minion for Nicodemus. Now known as Mantis he began to work for the good doctor as one of his top henchmen, commanding vast legions of robot armies to attack his enemies. One can only wonder: What was that guy thinking when he put an idiot in charge of his shock troops? In any case He continued to use Mantis for his own twisted ends. However Manis has a habit of attacking his brother on sight even if he's in the middle of doing something incredibly important.
Earth 2149
Manis can be seen preparing a large group of soldiers against the swarm of zombies trying to brake down the door to Dr.Nicodemuss' lab. His final fate remains unkown.
Earth T
Following the events of Dark star Megatron found himself in need of troops. Unfortunatley he soon found out that fleshies make poor soldiers so he kidnapped Dr. Nicodemus, his assitant Winston Riker and Mantis and ordered them to construct a machine that could transform humans into techno-organic transformers. Once he device reached completion the Decepticons tested it out on Mantis. Luckily for mantis it worked and he became transforming into a preying mantis of abominable size. He was added to the ranks of Insecticons as an extra soldier.
Earth 1610
In the ultimate universe Mantis was created when Nicodemus attempted to create his own super soldier experiment that would incorporate all the fighting abilities, strength, violence and speed of a preying mantis. The ultimate mantis is brown unlike the regular one who is green and his head more closley resembles that of the Timebreakers. He is noted to be twice as deadly than the other mantis as well, because unlike the other this Mantis has retained his intelligence and is a brilliant tactician, has all the insticts of a real mantis, as well as an urge to eat his enemies.
