History[]

Early Years[]

Reed Nathaniel Richards (born August, 1977) was the only child and son of wealthy physicist Nathaniel Richards and his wife Evelyn Richards, a molecular biologist and highly respected scientist in her own right. Both of whom had the dream of pushing and advancing scientific endeavors to better help humanity. A dream they shared with Reed, and one which he came to take on as one of his own. Especially since he was born a child prodigy with special aptitudes in mathematics, physics, and mechanics. Making the entire Richards household one of scientists but also dreamers. That is until just after Reed turned seven years old and his mother Evelyn past away, after a long and hard battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer, known as glioblastoma. After this Reed was raised by his father Nathaniel alone. Who continued encouraging him and guiding him in his scientific studies, and fostering his love for exploration and discovery, while making also Reed respected the consequences of such actions and endeavors. On top of giving him love and affection enough for two parents. All of which the young Reed accepted and was grateful to his father for providing.

It was all of this that allowed Reed to begin developing schematics for a device that could transmit matter across the dimensional plane at only ten years old. As well as earn four degrees in the fields of engineering, math, and physics by the time he was eighteen years old. Then right after he earned his fifth from State University, where he met his best friend Benjamín Grimm, he scouted by the government sponsored think-tank known as the Baxter Building. Who was doing exactly what Reed and his parents had dreamed of their entire lives. Pushing the boundaries of science, exploration, and discovery. So with that he signed up with them as quickly as he could. Then after working at the building for some time, in the early-2000's, Reed was given the opportunity to officially build a full-scale working model of the inter-dimensional teleportation device he first conceived in his childhood. An opportunity he jumped at without hesitation.

Fantastic Powers[]

After getting approval to work on his teleportation project Reed called in his old friend Ben for assistance. He also found himself working mainly on the project with his fellow Baxter Building employee, and crush, Susan Storm, her younger brother Jonathan Storm, and finally another Baxter Building employee, and Reed's rival, Victor Von Doom. Who together with Reed built his teleportation device, and then when it was complete the five of them actually tested it. When in doing so they were transported to a parallel dimension composed entirely of anti-matter, which the five of them would eventually come to know was known as the Negative Zone, where immediately after their arrival the group found themselves bombarded by cosmic rays from a cosmic storm. Faced with this the group immediately moved to teleport back to their home dimension, but in the process Victor was accidentally left behind. Despite the best efforts of Reed and the others to save him.

Shortly after returning home from their first trip to the Negative Zone Reed and the others learned the cosmic rays they were bombarded with had altered their physiologies, gifting each of them with unique and fantastic powers. Reed himself given the powers to mold and shape his entire body into a highly malleable and elastic state at will. A thing the young scientist greatly explored, like his friends explored their own powers, until they had to employee them to stop an attack against themselves, and the Baxter Building, in 2006 by Victor himself, who had also been altered by the cosmic rays of the Negative Zone, who was now calling himself Doctor Doom. Emerging victorious in their battle against Victor Reed and the others soon found themselves called the Fantastic Four by those they saved from Victor attack. So they decided to embrace it..
