History

Not even I'm fast enough to outrun the horrors this world creates.
Quicksilver

Pietro and his twin sister, Wanda, were born to the dying Celestial Exitar the Executioner, and the sorceress Natalya Maximoff, who both died when the children were infants. They were taken in by their aunt and uncle, Marya and Django, only for Wanda's powers to manifest and accidentally kill them. Pietro took it upon himself to protect Wanda, and they went on the run. However, it wasn't long until they were found by Magneto, who believed them to be mutants, and took them into his care, raising them as his own children.

They would eventually join the X-Men to fight for his dream of peace among mutants and humans against the forces of Apocalypse. However, after Wanda left to become the Horseman of Pestilence and Magneto was captured by Ultron and presumed dead, Quicksilver became disillusioned. He left the X-Men, not sure what he was fighting for anymore.

However, he was eventually recruited by the former S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Quake into her team of Secret Warriors, despite not being an Inhuman. He finally felt like he had a purpose again, and felt like he had found a home with this new team. He even fell in love with his teammate, the transgender Inhuman Aphrodite.

He would eventually discover his father is alive and being held in Ultron's Citadel with the team's founder, Nick Fury, but he was forbidden from staging a rescue mission by Quake, who saw it as suicide, which causes a great deal of tension between the two of them.

The Secret Warriors later established the safe haven of New Attilan. Quicksilver respected what the nation stood for, but he still felt as if he had a responsibility to his father, and began splitting his time with the Secret Warriors and working in secret with Hawkeye to stage a raid on Ultron's Citadel and rescue the prisoners.

  • Pietro constantly berates himself for having failed to protect his sister from her own madness.
  • He and Shadowcat are the only two Secret Warriors who have never met Nick Fury.
  • In the animated film Age of the Outsiders, Quicksilver is voiced by Michael Rosenbaum, who had never previously voiced the character before. Rosenbaum is, however, commonly known for voicing the Flash, who is often viewed as Quicksilver's DC Comics counterpart.
