Backstory
Early Life
Born as Felix Cadenas-Parker, they were raised in the residential streets of Queens, New York by their parents Dr. Richard Parker, a scientist at the now-defunct Oscorp, and Maria-Luisa Cadenas-Parker, a talented Andalusian painter.
In a devastating plane accident, Phoenix's parents lost their lives while en route to Seville, Spain. This sudden loss shattered Felix's world, leaving them orphaned and sent to live with their Uncle Ben and Aunt May, their last remaining legal guardians. Adjusting to a new family dynamic was not easy for Phoenix as they struggled with feelings of resentment and rebellion, finding solace in acts of selfishness and even resorting to bullying their peers for personal gain.
This behavior caused recurring conflicts with their Uncle Ben and Aunt May, who tried their best to guide Phoenix with the principles of responsibility and a better moral compass, but yet, in the following years Phoenix resisted, refusing to fully accept their role as parental figures.
New Powers and Gender Identity
As they grew up, they started to refer to themselves as Phoenix, in the wake of discovering their non-binary identity. As this transitional period of self search took place on their life, one day visiting the Oscorp labs in a high school trip at 10th grade in high-school, Phoenix split from the class group to try and look for their father's investigation as to; looking at the wrong place eventually lead them to a room full of cybernetic spiders, webbing metallic threads. Trying to hide from security, went indie one of the threads, leading to spiders getting on their sweater, as they got out they quickly got rid of all except one that got stuck. As they got out of the building, Phoenix was bitten by the spider in their shirt, immediately deactivating.
Eventually Phoenix discovered their new powers and capacities as a new spider-person, learning how to use their superhuman strength and agilities, as well as taking control on their webbing gland system on their forearms to shoot webs. With these new advantages, Phoenix went to underground fighting rings were they fought many future enemies and thugs to make a quick buck for themselves, all while dressed on their homemade prototype suit of "Metaloarachna".
Death of May
One day after a fight with their aunt May, they were caught in a crossfire between them and a band of criminals wanting Metaloarachna's recently gained money from the bets; May ran worried to check on her nephew's whereabouts, only to be tragically caught in the crossfire and being shot; in raging revenge, Phoenix immediately killed the muggers asphixiating them with the strong metallic webbing. In her last moments, as she was bleeding to death, Phoenix unmasked themselves to tears seeing there was nothing they could do to save her. May turned up to them and gave them her last words:
First Years as Silver Spider
Phoenix's life became a delicate balance of responsibilities, attending classes at the Art Students League of New York, pursuing their passion for art and honing their creative skills. Despite the demands of college, they also took up a part-time job as a barista at the Daily Bugle, pouring coffee for busy journalists and soaking in the newsroom atmosphere where Silver Spider is hated.
For the past 2 years, they've been living with Nikki Lang as a roomate, with whom they became friends with and payed half of rent with the barista job.
