Phoenix Five (Earth-1010)

Knowing there was no way to destroy the Phoenix Force and in an attempt to get Jean Grey to become its true host, Beast and Professor X decided to split it so it could possess five temporary, partial hosts.

History

In an attempt to stall the Phoenix Force's possession of Jean Grey, the entity was split by Beast and Professor X. The entity's fragments possessed Cyclops, Emma Frost, Namor, Colossus, and Magik.

Slowly, the Force's dark influence started taking a toll on some members, Namor particularly. After being informed by one of his Royal Guards that a generator was being lowered into the ocean, he disintegrated his subordinate with cosmic fire and swam to the Bronx to stop it.

After an encounter with Spider-Man at the docks, Namor went to his fellow hosts and proposed an attack on every superhero. Magik and Colossus were against it, which was taken as betrayal by the others. Cyclops, Emma and Namor defeated the Russian siblings and their fragments of the Force were split into the other three.

Following through with his plan, Namor launched an attack on Wakanda, which was repelled by Black Panther, the Dora Milaje and Storm. The Atlantean's fragment went to both Scott and Emma, making them stronger and increasing their urge for the other's last piece.

A fight ensued between the two and Cyclops emerged victorious, becoming the Dark Phoenix. However, Jean walked out to face him and called the Force onto her, the true host, becoming Phoenix and freeing Summers, disbanding the Phoenix Five.
