Peter Parker became Spider-Man in High School, and ended up dropping out of school to fight against the forces of Apocalypse alongside S.H.I.E.L.D.
After Apocalypse overthrew the United States of America, Spider-Man joined Captain America in his full frontal assault on Apocalypse. However, Peter, like everyone else who joined, met his brutal and tragic end at the hands of Apocalypse in the fight.
His clone, Ben Reilly, then took up the mantle of Spider-Man and joined the Avengers.
