Spoken by Peter Parker[]
Oh the irony. Peter Parker, Midtown High School's only professional wallflower, gained powers that could be compared to the abilities of a god.
- —Peter Parker
You know what? I had enough. I'm tired of being used as a punching bag and the people expecting me to be nice to them when they didn't even care about me in the first place. But no more. Look i am an artist, not a police officer. So from now on I'm going to worry only about the needs of number one, me.
- —Spider-Man to a Police Officer
What's your supervillain story, by the way. You want to take revenge on humanity because the vultures are in danger of extinction?, you know that you can be part of PETA, Right?
- —Spider-Man to Vulture
I was selfish. So selfish -- And you paid the price. You did, I did, Aunt May did. But i don't gotta make the same mistake twice.
- —Peter Parker
Of all superheroes, why did I end up in the sewers? You don't find the Fantastic Four in a sewer, or the Avengers. Or the Defenders. Well, maybe Hulk.
- —Spider-Man
Do you know something?. Sometimes being Spider-Man is like being in a toxic relationship, you know it hurts you, and you know you'll do better if you throw it away but you still can't do it. And not only that, but you also start to enjoy it and hate it at the same time.
- —Spider-Man
I know I'm a kid. I know I'm too young for this. I know that the most reasonable thing to do would be to go back to my normal life, and worry about how to ask a girl out instead of worrying about how not to be killed by the dangerous people I face on everyday like the boys of my age would. However, even if i want it. I can't. Look, when you can do the things that I can, but you don't... and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you.
- —Spider-Man to Daredevil
When I first got my powers I made a mindless decision. And thanks to that all my loved ones paid the price. I'm not going to let anything like that happen to someone else if I can help it. My uncle used to tell me that we all have gifts and that it is our responsibility to use them for the benefit of others. So I'm going to prevent anyone from suffering the same feeling I felt when I lost Ben.
- —Peter Parker explaining to Need Leeds the reason why he's Spider-Man
Why are you looking at me with that serious face? You're still upset that I made jokes about you when I found out you were blind. I'm sorry OK? I couldn't contain myself, I saw the opportunity and used it.
- —Spider-Man to Daredevil
Ever since I was bitten by that spider, there has never been a day when I have felt normal.
- —Peter Parker
I love being Spider-Man, who wouldn't? Swing through the skyscrapers. Feel the adrenaline rush through your veins, use the whole city as your personal playground, oh man. If it wasn't for this feeling I would have thrown this suit away years ago.
- —Spider-Man
I remember how whenever I was feeling down, you always used to tell me jokes with bad puns that anyone would think they were mean. But for me it was the funniest thing I had ever heard...
- —Peter Parker to Ben Parker's Grave
The Avengers, they're gone. The world is hopeless and for that it now needs us more than ever. They Avengers have taken down villains like Hydra or AIM before, and you wanna know how? They did it as a team. They didn't trip all over each other. They worked together and they took them down. And that's what we're gonna do.
- —Spider-Man to The Ultimates
No matter how hard times get, I will never forget these words “With Great Power Also Comes Great Responsibility”. So it doesn't matter if my life sucks right now, it doesn't matter if I just lose everything. I would never stop being a hero, not because I want to, but because I need to. These powers would always be a gift and also a curse. And I will always be Spider-Man
- —Spider-Man
