Early Years
Peter Parker was born to Richard and Mary Parker, both of whom were important people with lots of contributions to the field of genetics and technology. Peter loved his parents and grew a fascination with science. Peter's parents started working at Oscorp alongside beloved colleagues Curtis Connors and Brock Thompson Sr. Peter was good friends with Brock's son, Eddie, who was equally as brilliant as he was.
Richard and Mary Parker suspected of Oscorp CEO Norman Osborn of being involved in scandals in cooperation with crime cartels belonging to Tombstone and Wilson Fisk. When Osborn realized that the Parkers learnt about this, he accused them of selling off military grade technology to terrorist organizations in exchange of money. The Parkers were forced to leave their son Peter to his aunt and uncle Ben and May Parker. Peter's parents disappeared mysteriously, however in truth, Osborn sent an assassin named the Chameleon after them. Peter's reputation was destroyed when media and publicity got to him about his parents, and this had a huge impact in his life. Because of the accusations provided by Osborn, and furthered deemed true by the unstable court, most of Richard and Mary Parker's money was sent to Oscorp, and his uncle and aunt had to provide penalty money, leaving them constantly on the face of foreclosure. Peter's reputation was permanently left destroyed, as people considered him 'just like his parents' and were constantly criticizing and mocking him. This always left a wound in his heart, but due to his uncle's good upbringing, he wanted to bring contributions to the city and solve the injustice of the world.
Coming Years
Peter's shyness and scholastic interest often made him a social outcast and a target for bullies, primarily football star Flash Thompson. He was a social outcast and often stuttered while talking. His only friend Eddie Brock left the state after the night of the disappearance of his parents, and his father became an alcoholic and became abusive towards him. Mysteriously, Curt Connors lost his right arm and still stayed under Oscorp, although he was nowhere to be seen in any social gathering. Due to the constant criticism he had to suffer from, Peter started believing himself that his parents were perpetrators, and although he held a fascination towards his role model, Norman Osborn, a brilliant scientist and CEO of Oscorp, he also held a grudge against him.
Norman's son Harry also felt that he was a disappointment and believed that his father didn't deem him worthy of taking over his large business empire. Feeling worthless and also sorry in behalf of Norman in taking part over demolishing Peter's social life, Harry and Peter bonded and became the best of friends. Peter and Harry also became best friends with Gwen Stacy, and they met in a crime scene where her father Captain George Stacy was investigating the murder of a taxi cab passenger. Peter proved his brilliance towards George using his knowledge of forensics to track down the killer. Asides from these two, Peter had no friends except for his aunt and uncle to rely on.
New Powers
Although Peter considered his mistreatment a frequent part of his life and nothing special, Peter felt the urge to become more popular and when he learnt of his uncle's past accomplishments, he became disappointed of his frail conditions, and developed an obsession to be special and become a hero like Captain America. In the other hand, he also used to get thoughts of getting superpowers for his own sake and for the protection of his uncle and aunt. Somehow, Peter felt that there was a change coming in his life and ironically, there was.
After being embarrassed in front of his crush Liz Allan and Mary Jane Watson, his neighbor who he has more than ordinary feelings for, Peter decides it is the end of the line and fights back against Flash Thompson. But due to bad luck, the principal thinks he is the one who started to fight and due to insufficient evidence, Peter is suspended for a day, ruining his perfect record. His uncle is disappointed and tries to reassure him that there is good in failure, but Peter is infuriated to listen to anything. Three days later, their class goes on a field trip to Horizon Labs, a small section of Oscorp belonging and handled by Curtis Connors in the Empire State University. There, a public exhibition demonstrating the safe handling of nuclear laboratory waste materials is being shown, where a genetically altered radioactive arachnid escapes it's containment and bites Peter before it's apparent death. Filled with pain, Peter escapes the facility and loses his consciousness. He wakes up to see that he has subconsciously travelled to Hell's Kitchen and has caused a rampage there. Horrified, he is only frightened more when the superhuman Luke Cage starts fighting him to see what he is up to. Peter wins the fight and escapes.
Tragedy
Peter took a week off from school to adjust to his powers. Initially terrified, Peter then later fully realized the extent of his powers and realized that he could do almost limitless things with his new abilities. At first, he thinks of a life of crime, without having any trouble with money or having to deal with foreclosure, however, he quickly shoves that thought aside, as Uncle Ben taught him about moral and values. Later, he thinks of helping the world instead, however, he first sees that as far-fetched. Later, as he returns to school, he is able to avoid traps and pranks by Flash Thompson and discovers his Spider-Sense. He is humiliated by Kong and Flash once again in the cafeteria, and his reputation goes down the lines once and for all. Not wanting to end up as a social outcast once and for all, Peter decides to live a second life, where he can do anything he wants, and get the fame he desires. Stealing his school's costumes and adding new materials to it like spandex and lightweight polymer and two goggles to restrict his superhuman sight from distracting him, he also creates a set of webshooters to accompany his spider-like powers. As this new masked superhuman, Peter becomes an internet sensation, and many young people even start conspiracy theories about Peter. However, asides from the internet, this vigilante, known as the Masked Marauder, was considered as a fugitive by J. Jonah Jameson, the editor-in-chief of Daily Bugle who had mutantphobia and considered the Masked Marauder to be one, and even goes to extreme lengths, accusing the vigilante to be in ties with criminals.
As the Masked Marauder, Peter would usually stop crimes just for the sake of publicity, and he didn't bother to stop the ones where there wasn't any people to take his pictures of, however he eventually starts feeling guilty, and decides to cross his limits one day, and helps bystanders from a fatal car accident, not for the sake of publicity, but because he was intrigued to help the people in need. Peter's metamorphosis has also had an impact in his school life. He has been showing great results in gym and was even accused of being on steroids by Flash, but the case was later dismissed. Feeling jealous, Flash used the help of his other friends to make Peter look foolish but Peter used his superhuman senses to avoid that and ended up making Flash a fool of himself. Liz apparently starts showing interest towards him. Peter's popularity increases, and he is constantly leaving his friends to hang around with the popular people. Gwen is disappointed as she thought Peter was better, and Harry is jealous, as he always this sort of superiority complex, which he got from his father, and thought that using his massive wealth and power he could show people how capable he was. Peter's aunt and uncle realize that Peter has become effectively stronger and frequently comes late at night. Ben and May try to talk to him but Peter only starts arguments. Ben tries to explain that Peter is being selfish and Peter lashes out and escapes the house. The two meet up later onwards but still we see visible strains in their relationship.
Peter's grades start to go down and he makes a hard decision of deactivating his Facebook account. He can't concentrate on his studies but only help think about his popularity and eventually what he is going to do with it. Peter fails in an arithmetic test and his uncle and aunt become concerned. They have a discussion with him but Peter obviously is trying to deny that he is on drugs and says that he has been exercising and meditating, as to how he has become so full of energy in such a few weeks. Uncle Ben obviously knows that Peter is hiding the truth. After a heated argument, Peter runs off again in the night, but Ben does not go after him, stating that he knows that Peter will come back and learn his mistakes. Peter checks in on his friend Harry who he sees to be enjoying his massive wealth, while Gwen is studying. Peter then follows and sees Liz Allan, Flash Thompson, Mary Jane Watson and all of their other friends coming out from a party in their car. Envious of not getting Mary Jane's attention, Peter decides to return home. On the way, he sees a newspaper, and sees car advertisements. Believing that if he can buy a car he will be able to impress Mary Jane, so he joins an underground fighting club which Kong, Hobie Brown and Flash secretly attend after school hours. After adding slight remodifications to his Masked Marauder costume, Peter defeats Crusher Hogan as the Masked Marauder and according to the contractor, supposed to get a big chunk of cash. However, they stall the Marauder and tells him to come back on the evening of Sunday. Peter reluctantly accepts so. On that day, he fools his uncle and tells him that he is going to the library, his uncle drops him off there, and before he does, he tells Peter to wisely do whatever he is doing and says that he is a good kid and he knows that Peter wouldn't get involved with anything bad but a hesitant and guilty Peter tries to escape his guilt and shoves his uncle's warnings aside, and his uncle tells him that he has to act responsibly for the betterment of everyone. Peter leaves his uncle infuriated and rushes off to the underground fighting club where his contractor is unwilling to pay him money as he just got robbed. An angry and ungreatful Peter (who was posing as the Marauder) is about to leave when the robber shows up and tries to escape. Peter does not interfere, taking revenge on his contractor and leaves.
Peter comes back to the library just in time for the time uncle Ben was supposed to return to pick him up. Uncle Ben does not arrive and Peter is confused. He sees that people have piled up in a place very near to the library, and policemen are bordering the area. He goes to the area and discovers, to his horror, that his uncle has been shot and is dying. The police are unable to save him as his wounds are fatal and there is an excessive amount of blood loss. Peter sees how much his uncle is in pain and his uncle Ben is unable to properly say his last words. Much to his agony, he discovers that it was the same person who Peter let go of in the fight club that shot Ben who was trying to stop the robber. Consumed with vengeance and guilt, Peter's expertise on forensics from past training from Gwen's father George Stacy helps him track down the robber/murderer within a few minutes. The robber tries to hide from him in abandoned territory but Peter makes the robber so terrified that he jumps to his own death.
Becoming Spider-Man
Racked up with guilt and terror, Peter realizes that he has been unwise, and selfish and has not been using his powers responsibly, a reason why he indirectly caused the death of his only mentor, the one who helped him live and the one who showed him a better path, uncle Ben. Furthermore, his aunt had been hospitalized in a heart attack after she heard about this news and Ben's sudden death has caused unexpected financial problems in the Parker Residence. Grim and haunted, Peter sees nightmares of his uncle's death, and he feels angry at the fake condolences he gets at school, and runs away out of the campus and winds up at Hell's Kitchen again, where he meets Luke Cage again. Cage explains that he is a superhuman who is in the run and they both share their background experiences with each other, and Peter states that he has realized the frustration and hopelessness of a person when their lives are at risk, and he wants to prevent that and he wants to prevent any situation that causes trouble in their future, and he wants to carry the weight of the burden he caused on his shoulders as a punishment. Luke motivates Peter to do what he has to do and Luke understands the meaning of Uncle Ben's mantra "with great power comes great responsibility" and decides to become a hero... but for hire.
Peter's desire for vengeance goes away and he finds a new solace in protecting people from risks and preventing injustice, as a way of reforming himself, and getting away from his life of selfishness and jeopardy. Adding heavy modifications to his suit and removing his goggles and applying a utility belt and a colorful new red and blue costume, Peter decides to devote his life to stopping injustice and becomes Spider-Man!
Life Of A Hero
Spider-Man becomes one of the most viral and trending subjects in the internet, and is being adressed as a hero by some, while many suspect him of being the Masked Marauder, while some people see him as a mutant and protest against this rising hero, believing he is a menace, one of whom is obviously J. Jonah Jameson.
Peter realizes that being a superhero is indeed far fetched and at first, he only reacts to petty criminals and robbers, but he is highly inexperienced, as to why he comes back to home with wounds everyday. With a new motivation, Peter returns to school and reunites with his friends, Harry and Gwen, who he has a good time with. Peter also grabs the attention of Liz Allan who gives her sympathies to Peter's tragedies, including MJ. Flash instantly realizes that Peter is getting more attention and becomes even more envious and as always, makes himself the center of attention. Harry is disturbed but Peter does not mind, as he is not selfish as always anymore. However, Peter's grades start falling quickly and he has missed three subsequent classes in a period of three days and his teachers are starting to get worried. Moreover, he has inadvertently destroyed his chair and knocked over a door and this display of power has gotten students, parents and even teachers worried. They take him to councilling and Peter's motivations of being a hero is crushed but when he discovers that people actually look up to him and that even though he is a sixteen year old, some people see him as an inspiration, and that seals him permanently to become a man of an indomitable will and of pure justice.
Recruitment by Tony Stark
Parker was on his way home from school. Upon entering his apartment and greeting his aunt May, he mentioned that there was a "crazy" car parked outside when he noticed that they had a famous visitor: Tony Stark. Parker was caught off-guard and speechless upon meeting his biggest idol and was confused when Stark told his aunt that Stark Industries planned to give Parker a sizable grant that Stark manages for gifted students (claiming that Parker had signed up for it), which was actually a pretense for Stark to meet Parker.
When he realized this, he played along, making up that he had planned to surprise his Aunt May with it, and led Stark to his room where they could talk in private. Parker was shocked and tried to act nonchalant when Stark showed him footage of the rumored "Spider-Man" that was said to be active in New York City for several months. His videos showed a figure in red and blue clothing apprehending criminals and stopping speeding cars with his bare hands. Stark jokingly wondered if that figure was not Parker, to which he reacted with very clumsy excuses that Stark did not buy.
Parker claimed that the video must be fake and that it was somehow made on a computer. Parker's cover blew completely when Stark instantly discovered the secret hiding place of the makeshift outfit that Parker used as his costume. Parker had no other choice than to confess that he was indeed Spider-Man and has been for about six months. Stark jokingly ridiculed Parker for his cheap costume, but was impressed by, and complimented his self-made Web-Shooters. Landing mainly on the remarkable tensile strength of the synthetic webbing that Parker created, Stark quickly recognized himself in Parker because of his affinity towards science and even more so, when Parker mentioned a tragic event in his past that lead to him taking on a responsibility that most people could not take.
He decided to take the boy under his wing and invited him to come to Germany with him, to which Parker replied that he had homework to do. Stark jokingly threatened to tell his aunt May that he was Spider-Man to coerce Parker to come with him. While Stark led himself towards the door, Parker over-reacted for a moment and webbed his hand next to the door knob. He finally realized that he should take this offer, and left with Stark after freeing his hand from the door awkwardly.
Meeting his Teammates
Stark gives Peter an advanced suit, which he had prepared from the beginning. A stunned Peter asks how and why he had created it even before they met to which Stark replies that some way or the other he was going to make Peter 'join their side' forcing Peter to believe the morality issues of Stark. After creating an excuse to Aunt May about why he will be absent for at least about 24 hours, Peter quickly aboards Stark's quinjet and reaches to Germany in their rendezvous point, where he meets his other teammates, Black Widow, Vision, Cyborg, War Machine, Beast, Cyborg, Black Panther, Quicksilver and Crystal who is sent to fight along with the Pro-Registration by Inhuman ambassador Medusa. Peter has interactions with all of his team members and nobody generally seems to be content with his appearance as he is just a 15 year old and rather inexperienced. But only Beast seems to unite with him and discusses about the morality of choosing the pro registration side. Peter seems shocked and is forced to question himself the validity of Stark's actions, and also does not want to surrender himself to an organization who can control him with or without questions asked.
Civil War
At Iron Man's command, Spider-Man, revealed himself during the Clash of the Avengers and stole Captain America's Shield with his webbing, before getting distracted at seeing his heroes, the Avengers, and calling Captain America his hero, much to Iron Man's annoyance. Iron Man and Captain America continued to argue about the Sokovia Accords while Spider-Man looked on while awaiting his next orders.
Spider-Man was surprised by Ant-Man at first, who managed to sneak atop the shield and strike Spider-Man in order to return the shield to Captain America. As the former teammates began to fight, Spider-Man asked Iron Man what to do. He told Spider-Man to keep his distance and webbed Captain America and his companions up, as Stark did not want to hurt any of them.
He then followed Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Spider-Man chased Falcon and the Winter Soldier in the airport terminal building by crawling along the outside windows. He then smashed through the glass panel and with one kick Spider-Man smashed Falcon to the ground and then turned his attention to the Winter Soldier. While stopping a punch from Winter Soldier, Spider-Man became distracted and amused by his metal arm.
During a quick battle with Falcon, he webbed him to some hand railings in the terminal building but again became distracted, this time by Falcon's wings asking him if they were made from carbon fiber. Soon after, the Winter Soldier tried to intervene but Spider-Man was able to web him and Falcon up. However, the hero was soon snatched away by Redwing. Afterward, he rejoined his fellow teammates and he fought with Captain America, who both had a mutual respect towards each other, and managed to give him a good fight but eventually lost.
When Captain America forced him to hold up a platform, to which he was impressed by Spider-Man's strength; he then casually asked Spider-Man where he was from before escaping. During the battle, War Machine was thrown through the air by a giant Ant-Man and was about to smash into an aircraft parked outside the airport, but fortunately, Spider-Man saved him by firing a web line at War Machine and pulling him away from the aircraft just in the nick of time.
Spider-Man later has a hand to hand combat duel with Daredevil where they start to question the morality of the battle. Daredevil realizes that Spider-Man is very young and probably joined as he is just too excited to work with a real Avenger, and tells Spider-Man to think of this serious situation as an important thing, forcing Peter to once again question the morality of Stark. As he is about to come under a realization, Stark tells him to pursue Storm and Spider-Man who is about to win against Daredevil is forced to abandon their fight.
Storm and Crystal cause devastation and destruction in their battle, causing the skies to erupt and weather anomalies. Eventually, Spider-Man appears at their showdown where Storm is shooting a beam of thunder at Crystal who was shooting a beam of superheated fire at her. Scarlet Witch attempts to separate the two before any other casualties appear but she is unable to do that as that would cause an explosion between the two colliding beams. Spider-Man forms a plan, uses Scarlet Witch as a bait, and pulls Crystal out of the showdown, before any other horrific accident occurs, but that still leaves an entire building to collapse, giving Captain America and the Winter Soldier time to escape to the quin jet.
At the end of the battle, Spider-Man, inspired by the movie The Empire Strikes Back, came up with a strategy to defeat Ant-Man. He webbed up his knees so that Ant-Man lost his stand, and then let Iron Man and War Machine hit him against the helmet with full speed. Ant-Man fell over, hitting Parker, making him fly into a pile of wooden boxes; knocking him unconscious for a short while.
After the battle, Iron Man quickly checked to see if he was alright and told the exhausted Parker that he was done and should go home threatening to call his aunt May if he didn't. Feeling that he had disappointed Stark, Parker desperately tried to convince Iron Man that he could still keep fighting, and as Iron Man is about to reluctantly accept his offer to fight again, Peter who wants to be an ally of Stark but finally realizes that Stark's ideals are wrong, intentionally says "In another thought, I'm done" and leaves the battle scene, back to New York.
Getting New Equipment
Later, Parker returned home to his apartment in Queens, resting on his bed. May took care of his blackened eye. When she asked Parker who injured him, he told her about a Brooklyn man named "Steve" and his huge friend. When she had exited the room, Parker inspected his new web-shooters which had been upgraded by Tony Stark. A red beam suddenly emitted from the one on his right wrist, projecting the Spider-Signal onto the ceiling.
Aftermath of Civil War
Peter thinks about his first big battle, participating in the Civil War event, and sees the aftermath of it and sees that it has left a huge gap on the superhero community. He sees Stark having obvious struggles with life, while struggling with alcoholism. Peter seeks the help of Pepper Potts for Stark to help him from being sober. Stark thinks of assembling a new incarnation of the Avengers and asks Peter to help him out but Peter denies, and says that it would be best if he worked solo as he is still young and frankly wants to grow experienced by himself so that he can understand the basis of other superhumans without being affected by other people's emotions like he was with Stark.
Rebirth of Career
The Civil War had a profound effect on Peter as he had the official rebirth of his career. His name as a vigilante worsened as time went by, however, his heroic activities drastically increased. He alsos sought out to fix the imperfections in his life, and reunited with his fellow peers and became more social, however, the same could not be said to Harry, who was sufffering from substance abuse more.
Peter went on to face many foes such as, in order, the Vulture, a man with a tragedic backstory and a hideous face, the Enforcers, consisting of Shocker, Ox and Riccochet, Hammerhead, who is the right man of Tombstone, Lizard, Peter's laboratory employer, Curt Connors, who became the Lizard, Electro, a bipolar veteran subjected to experimental treatments that made him turn into a mentally unstable living battery, Sandman, Rhino, Hydro Man, Molten Man, Scorpion, all of whom were subjects to illegal genetic experiments monitored by Norman Osborn, Tombstone and Ravencroft, following this, came, the insurgence of Doctor Octopus, a scientist with disabilities and an accident that ruins his entire life, Tinkerer, a super intelligent man that posesses the knowledge to CIA secrets, Kraven the Hunter, a hunter with great prowess and pride, Chameleon, an assassin with many faces, Mysterio, a tech wizard who uses illusions and misdirection to commit crimes, Black Cat, a seductive cat burglar, Silvermane and Silver Sable of the Mane crime family, Roderick Kingsley, a crime lord, Wilson Fisk, the big man of New York, the Maggia crime forces, Mister Negative, Cloak and Dagger, people who wield the mystical Darkforce energy, John Jameson, who is the son of J. Jonah Jameson who is sent to a space mission where he contracts a disease and becomes the Man-Wolf, and later the symbiote Kylntar, who is recovered from a meteorite in space in one of Jameson's expeditions, which later possesses Eddie Brock and feeds on his hatred to become Venom.
Later, the Sinister Six is formed, consisting of Doctor Octopus, Rhino, Sandman, Electro, Vulture and Mysterio. The team goes through several incarnations, and has defeated Spider-Man once or twice. After Eddie Brock gets institutionalized, the Kylntar symbiote is able to feed on sufficient hatred or physical manifestation of darkness to spawn an asexual spawn, which posesses the psychopathic criminal known as Cletus Kassady and becomes the Carnage. Later onwards, the menace known as the Green Goblin terrorizes New York City and replaces Wilson Fisk as the big man of New York, at first, in his unmasking, it was revealed to be Harry Osborn, however, in a shocking revealation, it was all just a scheme by Norman Osborn who was the real perpetrator. Later onwards, clones and wannabes such as Hobgoblin or the Demigoblin appeared, and Peter Parker discovered the truth behind his parent's dissapearance, and met his half sister Teresa Parker. Peter also teamed up with Human Torch in several occassions, and was a member of the Trinity of Marvel Comics, which also consists of Daredevil and Punisher.
Powers and Abilities
Powers
- Spider-Physiology: Spider-Man possesses the proportionate powers of a spider, granted to him from an irradiated Common House Spider (Achaearanea tepidariorum) which bit Peter Parker that was apparently already mutated from prior exposure to certain frequencies of radiation and received a final, lethal dose during Parker's attendance of the exhibition. The radioactive, complex mutagenic enzymes in the spider's blood that were transferred at the time of the bite triggered numerous body-wide mutagenic changes within Parker, granting him superhuman strength, speed, toughened flesh, and numerous arachnid-like abilities. That mutation granted him an "enhanced chromosome pattern".
- Superhuman Strength: Spider-Man possesses superhuman strength enabling him to press lift many tons. Spider-Man's physical strength is sufficient enough to enable him to lift and throw objects as heavy as a big rig semi truck with ease. He must also pull his punches and kicks unless fighting someone of similar or greater physical durability. Otherwise, his blows would prove fatal to a normal human being. He has demonstrated that he is strong enough to knock out people with normal durability with as little as a tap to the head. As such, he rarely lets himself use all of his strength - after Doctor Octopus had taken over Spider-Man's body, he easily punched off the Scorpion's (a foe normally regarded as physically tougher than Spider-Man) jaw as he hadn't known off Spider-Man's true strength. Spider-Man's physical strength also extends into his legs, enabling him to be able to jump to a height of several stories in a single bound. Spider-Man demonstrated this when he leaped over thirty feet vertically into the air when he first leaped out of the way of an oncoming car; it should also be noted that when he first discovered his powers as a teenager, they had not developed to that of his prime.
- Superhuman Speed: Spider-Man is capable of running and moving at speeds that are far beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete. Spider-Man has shown to be fast enough to catch up to an accelerating car while on foot, but prefers to travel by webs. Spider-Man moves faster than the eye can follow, he has even moved so fast he appears as a blur. Spider-Man was able to easily outrun multiple goblin masquerade on goblin gliders, and outmaneuver their ranged attacks at the same time.
- Superhuman Stamina: Spider-Man's advanced musculature produces less fatigue toxins during physical activity than an ordinary human. This allows him to exert himself physically for much longer periods of time before fatigue begins to impair him. At his peak, Spider-Man can physically exert himself at his peak capacity for several hours before the build up of fatigue toxins in his blood begins to impair him. Several accounts depict Spider-Man as able to hold his breath for eight minutes or more.
- Superhuman Durability: Spider-Man's body is physically tougher and more resistant to some types of injury than the body of a normal human. His body is more resistant to impact forces than anything else. He can withstand great impacts, such as falling from a height of several stories or being struck by an opponent with super strength, that would severely injure or kill a normal human with little to no discomfort. In the past, he has survived multiple blows from the likes of The Hulk, as well as surviving a point blank missile explosion.
- Regenerative Healing Factor: Spider-Man has a low-level rapid healing factor. While not on Wolverine's level, it is sufficiently powerful enough to recover from severe injuries from broken bones and large amounts of tissue damage in a matter of hours.
- Contaminant Immunity: Due to his accelerated metabolism, Spider-Man has a higher tolerance for drugs and diseases than normal humans, and he can recover from the effects of larger doses rapidly. During an encounter with the Swarm, Spider-Man was incapacitated by thousands of bee stings, but recovered in less than 24 hours. His resistance and recovery time to other toxins and diseases varies, but is typically significantly higher than normal. Spider-Man's unique physiology even allowed him to recover from the effects of vampirism as stated by Blade, his radioactive blood will kill the enzymes responsible for his transformation and revert him to normal. Spider-Man was able to recover completely from acid being spat into his eyes by the new Vulture although the extent of the damage may have been restricted due to his superhuman durability. However, Spider-Man has the normal human tolerance for alcoholic beverages.
- Superhuman Agility: Spider-Man's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are all enhanced to levels that are far beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete. Spider-Man is extraordinarily limber and his tendons and connective tissues are twice as elastic as the average human being's, despite their enhanced strength. He has the combined agility and acrobatic prowess of the most accomplished circus aerialists and acrobats. He can also perform any complicated sequence of gymnastic stunts such as flips, rolls, and springs. He can easily match or top any Olympic record at gymnastics apparatus such as flying rings, climbing ropes, horizontal bars, trampolines, and even surpass the likes of Captain America and Daredevil.
- Superhuman Reflexes: Spider-Man's reflexes are similarly enhanced and are currently about forty times greater than those of an ordinary human. In combination with his spider-sense, the speed of his reflexes allows him to dodge almost any attack, or even gunfire, given sufficient distance.
- Superhuman Equilibrium: Spider-Man possesses the ability to achieve a state of perfect equilibrium in any position imaginable. He seems able to adjust his position by instinct, which enables him to balance himself on virtually any object, no matter how small or narrow.
- Spider-Sense: Spider-Man possesses an extrasensory "danger" or "spider" sense which warns him of potential immediate danger by the manifestation of a tingling sensation in the back of his skull, and links with his superhuman kinesthetics, enabling him to evade most any injuries, unless he cognitively overrides his automatic reflexes. He can, however, discern the severity of the danger by the strength of his response to it. Spider-Man's spider-sense is directional and can guide him to or away from hidden weapons and enemies.Sudden and extreme threats can cause his spider-sense to react with painful intensity. Spider-Man can also sense and dodge attacks directed randomly or by an artificial intelligence. Using his spider-sense to time his enhanced reflexes, Spider-Man can casually dodge attacks up to and including automatic-weapons fire, provided there is sufficient distance. His spider-sense is sufficiently well-linked to his reflexes to the point that a threat can trigger them even when Spider-Man is asleep or stunned. His spider-sense has helped him preserve his secret identity since it alerts him to observers or cameras when changing into or out of his costume. The spider-sense does react to those who Peter does not consider to be a threat, such as Aunt May, or when a fellow hero makes a bluff while playing poker. Spider-Man can choose to ignore his spider-sense, and distraction or fatigue diminish its effectiveness. Spider-Man's fighting style incorporates the advantage that his "spider-sense" provides him. His body begins to produce more adrenaline after the sense is triggered, an extension of the 'fight or flight syndrome.' Even when he does not have the use of his eyes, Spider-Man can still use his Spider Sense in a similar fashion to Daredevil's Radar Sense to help him see by sensing the direction the danger is coming from by listening on the loudest noise around him.
- Radio Frequency Detection: Peter's spider-sense also enables him to track certain radio frequencies, which he has used to his advantage via his Spider-Tracers.
- Radiation Absorption: Peter harnesses a strong of power is his power to absorb radiation in negative and also in beneficial ways. Peter can absorb radiation inadvertently. Since his immunity system can't resist against such weaknesses, he takes out the radiation out of his body through radiation blasts, a power that he uses as contingency plans, as it drains most of his energy.

- Indomitable Will: Spider-Man has a strong Force of Will, completely free of evil and temptation. For years, he has struggled to balance his life as a student and his superhero duties. He is able to emerge from defeat even stronger. Through the psychological profiles conducted by Maria Hill, she has stated that nobody has as strong as an ingrained identity as Spider-Man, further demonstrating the extent of his willpower.
- Genius-Level Intellect: With an IQ north of 250, Peter is easily one of the most intelligent men on Earth. Some of the Earth's most brilliant minds such as Reed Richards and Hank Pym have acknowledged Peter's intellect, with the former acknowledging him as an intellectual equal whose potential rivals his own. In addition, Peter's college IQ scores were the same as those posted by Reed Richards at the same age.
- Expert Inventor/Engineer: With his knowledge and expertise in mechanics, robotics and engineering Peter has been able to use his amazing intellect and resources at Horizon Labs to create many inventions.
- Science Major: A brilliant scientific mind, Peter possesses a doctorate in biochemistry, as well as expertise in various fields of applied science, chemistry, physics, biology, engineering, and mechanics. He is an accomplished chemist and physicist.
- Skilled Photographer: Peter is a very skilled photographer and has worked for the Daily Bugle and the Front Line as a photographer.
- Master Hand to Hand Combatant: Due to his life being bullied and pranked as a young teenager to acquiring amazing superhuman capabilities and combining them with his scientifically adept and creative mind, Parker has through time become an excellent hand-to-hand combatant utilizing a fighting style that directly complements his superhuman abilities. His methods are volatile, enabling him to rival practically all types of combatants.
Strength level
Peter is capable of lifting approximately 10 tons in his original body. Peter has been shown to be able to lift cars with ease and even tanks. Under extreme amounts of stress or when sufficiently enraged, Peter is known for cutting loose and demonstrating even greater levels of strength, such as supporting the weight of the Daily Bugle building, landing a private jet, breaking through Iron Man's armor, and even breaking through eight of Doctor Octopus' carbonadium tentacles.

Weaknesses
Unlike many superheroes, Spider-Man does not have a weakness he is automatically vulnerable to, but in recent years methods have been created to render him vulnerable.
- Spider-Sense Disruption: Spider-Man's Spider Sense can lose its effectiveness if it is blocked or temporarily weakened by specialized equipment or certain drugs. It also would not trigger if it detects something that is not registered as a threat like the Spider-Man clones or the Venom symbiote and its offspring and Anti-Venom. When deprived of his spider-sense, Spider-Man becomes vulnerable to surveillance and attack, and web-slinging requires most of his concentration.
- Ethyl Chloride: Perhaps as a side effect of gaining his powers, Spider-Man is susceptible to the pesticide ethyl chloride.
- Bad Luck: Not exactly a flaw or a disadvantage in his crime-fighting, Peter Parker's life is generally a complicated one. Peter has been forced in numerous occasions to lie to people close to him, be late in his commitments, get away from people and so on for the sake of his secret identity. This inherent difficulty to get his superhero life a secrecy, matched with the number of superhuman events and beings in New York and simply coincidence has in turn, lead Peter to aggravate people around himself, even ones close to himself, and to, more often than not, run into trouble and embarrassment. As Peter often remarks whenever he misses an opportunity to better his social life, improve his finances, or even get to work on time, (due to his super-heroics), "Typical Parker Luck."

- Web-Shooters: Parker's brilliance at physical science allowed him to create web-shooters for use when he became Spider-Man.The twin devices worn on his wrists are able to shoot thin strands of a special "web fluid" at high pressure.
- Utility Belt: Upon first entering the super-hero world, Peter created a utility belt that held extra clips of webbing, Spider-Tracers, and his Spider-Signal. Recently, he upgraded his utility belt to hold cartridges of different types of webbing, freeze capsules, new Spider-Tracers as well as a newly upgraded Spider-Signal that has a UV light setting for forensic analysis.
- Spider-Tracers: Spider-Man uses small electronic "Spider-Tracers" of his own design that allow him to track objects or individuals. Typically, Spider-Man plants or throws one on a departing enemy and follows the target to their hideout. He also uses a launching device in his web-shooters for better range and accuracy. He originally used an electronic receiver to follow the signals of the tracers but later modifies their signal so he can follow it with his spider-sense. He can follow the signal within a 100-yard radius.
- Spider-Signal: A powerful light emitted from Spider-Man's utility belt to announce his arrival to criminals. Peter later updated his Spider-Signal with a UV light setting for forensic analysis.
