History

For the longest time, Venom and I thought we were the only family the other one had. But now I know that's not true... it never was.

Patrick Parker grew up in the shadow of his older brother, Peter, which only got worse when Peter became Spider-Man. Parker eventually dropped out of High School and became a drug runner for the Kingpin.

This line of work led to him transporting the Venom symbiote, which had recently separated from Spider-Man. Patrick and the symbiote sensed each other's ire and bonded, becoming Venom, one of Spider-Man's fiercest enemies.

After Peter was murdered by the Grim Reaper, Patrick and Venom began living under the radar. But years passed, and eventually he discovered he had a niece, who had become the vigilante Spider-Girl. Venom decided to test her abilities out of the hopes that she would live up to her father's reputation. One of their confrontations, however, led to April's near death, and subsequent recruitment onto Team X.

Believing they had accidentally killed her, Venom dedicated themselves to becoming a vigilante in her honor.

This path eventually led to them being recruited onto Team X themselves, as the Silver Sentry's way of motivating them both. After proving their desire for redemption, Patrick and April were able to finally find common ground and rebuild their relationship.

This relationship was shattered, however, when Spider-Girl was killed by an alternate version of Morlun. Shattered and unmotivated, Venom was eventually relieved from duty on Team X, and settled down in his home reality with former teammate, the Black Cat.
