Ororo Munroe was recruited by Apocalypse when she was a teenager while he was still amassing power. He harnessed her powers and led her to believe she was more than a mutant and that she deserved to rule over everyone else. She became Apocalypse's first Horseman of Famine, and served him loyally for years.
After Apocalypse's wife, Emma Frost, gave birth to their child and abandoned the empire, Storm stepped up and courted Apocalypse's affections, ascending from the title of Horseman to Queen of the Armada.
