Olivia "Liv" Octavius came from a troubled home. Determined not to follow in her neglectful mother's footsteps, Olivia devoted herself to her studies.
One time, she worked as an elementary school teacher and encouraged a young Petra Parker.
Despite years of derision from her mostly male peers, she became a nuclear physicist. She designed a harness with four thought-controlled mechanical arms, using Stark tech, to assist with her research in atomic physics.
She eventually work at Oscorp with her old colleague Norma Osborn.
An accident led to them being fused to her body and damaged her psyche in turn, leading her to a life of crime and assuming the derogatory name her co-workers had coined for her, Doctor Octopus.
She often faces Spider-Girl and loses, which leads to the formation of the Sinister Six.
