History
Formerly known as the United States of America, the nation became known as the North American Union following World War 2, when multiple major cities were completely wiped out during during Hydra's final incursion, in an effort to unite the country under their rule. In the aftermath of the assault Isaac Stark, the head of Stark Industries and the only surviving member of the President's war-cabinet, would use his resources and connections to become the new president and begin the effort to rebuild America. Not everyone would agree with Isaac's rule however, leading to a civil war in America and the country breaking into two regions, the North American Union, led by Isaac Stark, and the American Republic. The two regions remained locked in war for 3 years until the North American Union won thanks to the superior technology and Stark Industries. The American Republic was absorbed once more, and only the North American Union remained. Isaac would later become one of the first members of The Cabal, an alliance of the worlds superpowers who would work together to maintain an iron grip of their power over their regions.
The Stark family would retain control over the North American Union for the next century, with Isaac's son Howard Stark Sr. taking power following Isaac's death. Later Howard Sr.'s son, Howard Stark would later carry out Cabal-backed coup, ousting his father and taking power for himself, which he would maintain for the next twenty-five years. By 2025 the North American Union was one of the ten regions that had full control over the planet, with the Starks in full control, though serious threats to their rule arose in the form of heroes such as the Avengers and Spider-Man and the growing feeling among the Cabal that the North American Union had become a weak link in their control of the planet.
