Nick Samuel Fury is the director of SHIELD, and considered an ally by a number of different 'superheroes'.
History[]
Nick S. Fury is the grandson of Nick J. Fury, the founder of the Howling Commandos and first director of SHIELD. He spent much of his early years living in or near various SHIELD facilities, even attending the schools set up for the child relatives of agents. Much like his father and his grandfather, Nick sought a career working for SHIELD. Upon completing his high school diploma, Nick officially joined SHIELD, undergoing its most rigorous training programme.
Upon becoming an agent, one of his first missions took him to Symkaria to extract an agent undercover within Hydra; Maria Hill. The mission went horribly wrong, as Fury's partner on the mission accidentally set off an alarm. While the mission was ultimately a success, as Maria was safely extracted, Fury was put on suspension while the incident was reviewed. Ultimately, Agent Hill came to his defence, and the two ended up becoming field partners and close friends.
In the early 2000s, when Nick was in his early 30s, his grandfather passed away due to various health issues caused by his years of service. Not long after, the position of Director of SHIELD became available. Nick decided to nominate himself for consideration, hoping to honour his grandfather's legacy. By this point, he had risen through the ranks and proved his worth, and so was confident he at least stood a chance. This happened while he was investigating a pair of agents who were discovered to be Hydra spies. He uncovered far more than even he expected, and managed to identify a number of agents in important positions in the organisation that worked for Hydra. He also discovered that Maria, by this time his partner for over a decade, was in contact with Hydra. He confronted her, hoping for some kind of explanation, but was unconvinced by the story she gave and pushed further, resulting in her confessing. Nick didn't know what to do, as the pair had been close for years and he was struggling with the thought of turning her in. Regardless, Maria knew that her ruse was up, and attempted to escape. He chased after her, and ultimately shot her in the back. He was initially detained, but revealed he'd kept a device under his eye-patch that had recorded her confession, and handed over his collection of evidence of all the Hydra agents he'd discovered in SHIELD ranks. The next day, a sweep was undertaken across several facilities, wherein 53 Hydra spies were captured, which in turn resulted in intel from interrogations that led to a further 37 arrests. Hailed as a hero, the World Security Council unanimously voted to install Nick as the new Director of SHIELD.

Infinity Serum Enhancements: After undergoing the 'Infinity Serum' steroid treatment, Nick's body has been enhanced beyond human norms.
- Superhuman Strength: Although nowhere near as strong as the likes of Spider-Man, Nick is stronger than a regular human, being able to lift several hundred kilograms at a time.
- Superhuman Durability: Due to the enhanced musculature of his body, Nick is incredibly durable, being able to take hits in fights with ease. He has even shown enhanced durability when shot with bullets, as although he isn't bulletproof, bullets fragment significantly less when entering his body, making injuries easier to treat and heal from.
- Enhanced Senses: Both his eyesight and hearing are significantly greater than the average person, making up for his missing eye.
- Decelerated Ageing: In the 10 years since undergoing the Infinity Serum treatment, Nick has barely aged, with the processes that cause ageing of the body having slowed drastically.
Abilities[]
Expert Combatant: Being the grandson of SHIELD's first director, and later a SHIELD agent himself, Nick has undergone a great deal of combat training throughout his life. He is considered one of the deadliest fighters SHIELD has ever seen, even before undergoing superhuman enhancement.
Weapons Expert: Nick was trained in the use of a number of hand-to-hand weapons by his grandfather, and further honed his skills during his time as a SHIELD agent. He is highly skilled with knifes, swords, and batons, and often finds himself using whatever he can get a hold of during fights.
Expert Marksman: Due to the loss of one of his eyes, Nick extensively trained himself to compensate with his other eye, and in doing so became an exceptional marksman. While he was a SHIELD agent, he set the record for shooting accuracy, which has yet to be broken by anyone else almost 20 years later.
Multilingual: As well as English, Nick has studied Mandarin, Japanese, and Russian, having decent proficiency in all three, though not being entirely fluent.
