History

Quote1 Don't. Trust. Anybody. It's the quickest way to get yourself killed. Quote2
Nick Fury

Nick Fury was one of the CIA's top agents, specially trained in espionage. By day he would destabilize radical governments, and by night he would come home to his loving wife, Monica, and their infant son, Marcus. However, one day, tragedy would strike his small town when the Squadron Supreme members Hulk and Iron Man turned on each other and engaged in a battle that claimed 21 lives. Including his wife and son. During the battle, when Fury was still unaware of his loss, he attempted to intervene by talking down the Hulk, but he merely ended up getting in Iron Man's way, who blasted a ballistic bullet directly into his eye, sending Nick into a coma that lasted for six months. When he awoke and received the news of his family's deaths, Fury became devastated. He began devoting every moment of his life to investigating Potts International, and uncovering the secrets they worked so hard to cover up.

As the years went by, and the more Fury worked to destabilize the company, he ended up amassing a team of scorned human beings who shared his disdain for Potts, including Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, Frank Castle, three of the best soldiers and spies the world had ever seen, and Tony Stark, a genius level former Potts employee with a grudge against Juniper Potts herself.

Fury's makeshift team would go on to adopt the name "The Avengers", given to them by their newest recruit, family man and former convict, Scott Lang.

Fury would later meet the Hulk once more, who had joined a society of former Potts heroes who discovered the truth about the company and went into hiding. Fury learned that the reason Hulk and Iron Man were fighting that day was because Hulk wanted to come clean about Potts, and Iron Man had been assigned to assassinate him to prevent their secrets from getting out. The Hulk would then propose an alliance between the Avengers and the Society, which Fury vehemently rejected, despite disagreements from his team. Fury was convinced they could bring Potts down without the help of the "heroes".

The Avengers were eventually successful in ruining the Squadron's reputation and staged a raid on Potts Tower in New York to take out Juniper, but Fury was blocked off by the Black Panther, who bested him in battle, and clawed him to death.
