History
Always the frog, never the prince...

Morty Tolensky was always encouraged by his mutant parents to join the supremacy movement and help to slaughter the humans. But Morty had compassion, and never felt like he belonged with the mutants. Eventually, he decided to join the revolutionary, Magneto, to fight for humanity.
Over the years, he earned himself the nickname Toad while fighting against his parents. He lost many friends close to him when the mutants enslaved Scott Summers to power their Sentinel army and begin wiping out the resistance.
However, things changed when Team X arrived to help the resistance destroy Master Mold. Toad and Magneto worked closely with the Team, and Toad was the one to accompany them on their mission, as he was familiar with the layout of Genosha, where Master Mold was kept. When the alternate version of Cyclops refused to let his teammates, Wolverine and Angela, kill him, Toad sided with him and informed them that Scott used to fight alongside the resistance and deserved a second chance. However, during their escape, Toad's version of Cyclops was murdered, and the Team was saved by the Silver Sentry, who informed them the only was to successfully complete the mission was if Team X's Cyclops remained behind to take his place. Toad was then selected to take his place on the team.
Unfortunately, Toad only accompanied the Team on one mission. However, the one mission lasted months, as they found themselves faced off against an alternate version of Doctor Strange who harnessed the Dark Dimension's energy to enslave the entire world. After the Team developed the plan to banish Doctor Strange to the Dark Dimension, they launched an assault on the Sanctum Sanctorum. When Dormammu's full power was unleashed on the team, Toad was the first one to succumb to it. Cannonball was the next to die, as he sacrificed himself to close the portal, completing the mission.

Trivia
- At the time of joining Team X, Toad was 22-years-old.
- Toad was recruited as Cyclops's replacement. Following Toad and Cannonball's death, as well as Angela's decision to remain in that reality, they were replaced by Spider-Girl, Lightspeed, and Iron Man.
