Miles Morales is a Blatino-American who was bitten by an enhanced spider which gave him many powers. He is the new Spider-Man who works along with Peter Parker.

History[]

Early history[]

Miles was born in Brooklyn, New York City, roughly around August 2007. He was the only son of police officer Jefferson Davis and teacher Rio Morales. Miles developed an inclination for technology at an early age, taking apart his family's TV at the age of five. As a teenager, he and his friend, Ganke Lee, developed a phone app that allowed them to hack into almost any technology, even military-grade equipment.

Origin[]

After Norman Osborn was arrested by S.H.I.E.L.D, and publicly revealed as the Green Goblin, Osborn Industries was left abandoned. Nearly two months before Peter Parker's death, a thief named Aaron Davis (aka The Prowler) broke into Osborn Industries. Unknown to the thief, a spider genetically enhanced with the OZ formula crawled into his bag. After being awarded the final spot in a charter school lottery, visited his Uncle Aaron against his parents' wishes. Miles' dad didn't want him around his Uncle because he was a thief. While sitting on his uncle's couch, the Oz-enhanced spider emerged from Aaron's bag and bit Miles on his hand, causing him to pass out and foam at the mouth. Later, when Miles awoke, Aaron was confronted by Miles' father. During a brief confrontation, Miles fled from Aaron's apartment.

While hiding from his father on the street, Miles realized that he was starting to become invisible. Miles instinctively leaped over the two home movers carrying a television in his path. The surrounding spectators stared at him in amazement and were baffled when he suddenly vanished into thin air. Miles, afraid he might be a mutant, visited his best friend, Ganke, and confessed his new-found abilities to him and demonstrated his "Venom Blast". Ganke was amazed and immediately started doing research to explain the phenomenon. Ganke explained that Spider-Man received his spider-powers through a spider bite as well. This prompted Miles to attempt to climb the walls of his bedroom and Ganke was overjoyed when Miles demonstrated his wall-crawling ability. Miles, however, just wanted to be normal. His father often spoke negatively of mutants and he dreaded rejection.

The next day, they arrived at Aaron's apartment to find out what he knew about the spider, but he and all of his belongings, were missing. Confused, Miles and Ganke left. They noticed a crowd observing a burning building. The crowd watched in awe as Miles rescued a woman and a helpless young girl and her dog. Miles retreated to a nearby alleyway and vomited. Miles decided to leave the heroism to the actual Spider-Man.

Over the next two months Miles and Ganke moved into their dormitory at their new charter school, the Brooklyn Visions Academy. When Miles learned of a super-hero brawl on the Queensboro Bridge and that Spider-Man had been shot, he snuck out to help the wounded Spider-Man. By the time Miles arrived in Queens, it was already too late. He watched Spider-Man say his last words to his Aunt May before he died. In the aftermath, Miles attend Peter's public funeral at St. Patrick's Cathedral. Miles got through the crowd and asked a mournful Gwen Stacy what was Spider-Man's real name and she replied "Peter Parker".

Peter Parker Dead

Peter Parker...dead?!

Miles was struck with grief over not being able to help Spider-Man before his untimely demise. He felt the real Spider-Man might still be alive if he had done more with his powers. Miles and Ganke attended Peter's funeral where he once again spoke to Gwen Stacy. Gwen told him that Peter did what he did because he was following his uncle's philosophy, that with great power came great responsibility, and that Peter had felt responsible for his uncle's death. It was then that Miles decided to succeed Peter Parker. Unknown to him and everyone, Peter's body is missing from his grave.

Season 1[]

Becoming Spider-Man[]

Miles´s first suit

Miles as Spider-Man!

Miles decided that he would become the new Spider-Man and began sketching costume designs. Ganke, having worn a Spider-Man costume for Halloween the previous year, offered it to Miles, even though it was a little too large. Miles went on his first ever patrol of the city, enjoying the freedom he felt leaping from building to building. Miles confronted the Kangaroo in his new makeshift Spider-Man costume. Kangaroo and the surrounding crowd of spectators were surprised by the very-much alive Spider-Man. The two fought and Miles was thrown through a plate-glass window. Miles eventually won by using his Venom Strike on Kangaroo while he was lifting a vehicle over his own head, causing him to drop it on himself. Exhausted, Miles wondered to himself that perhaps his costume was in bad taste, as was mentioned by many of the spectators during his fight.

Miles' next patrol was cut short when he was attacked by Spider-Woman who demanded to know who he was. Miles was confused by the sudden appearance of a female Spider-Man. She webbed him up and Miles tripped and knocked himself out. He later awoke inside a holding cell at the Triskelion ONE. Outside his cell was Spider-Woman, Nick Fury, Hawkeye and Iron Man. After analyzing his blood, Tony came to the conclusion that Miles has a similar genetic makeup as Peter Parker. Fury correctly guessed that Miles had obtained his powers through a spider bite.

Meanwhile, in the Triskelion medical ward, Electro awoke from a chemically induced coma and immediately attacked all the medical staff. Miles and Fury immediately joined the rest of the SHIELD Agents in taking point. Electro took down Iron Man, Hawkeye, and Spider-Woman. Miles, using his camouflage, snuck behind him and hit him with a large container. Electro was surprised and confused by Spider-Man being alive; he was distracted long enough for Miles to use his Venom Strike on him, knocking him out.The next day, at school, Spider-Woman showed up in civilian clothing and handed Miles a case containing his new costume, courtesy of Nick Fury. She told him that he had one chance to prove himself. Miles was officially the new Spider-Man.

Miles stopped a mugging, albeit very sloppily. Betty Brant captured video footage of him on her phone, which she brought to the Daily Bugle and presented to Jameson. The story of a new Spider-Man in New York made the headlines.Miles watched the Spider-Man movie that had been released several months ago, featuring actual footage of Peter Parker fighting with Dr. Octopus. He studied Peter's moves so he could become a better crime fighter like Peter was.  Miles faced Omega Red, who was causing chaos in Long Island; Miles defeated Omega Red.Miles happened upon The Ringer robbing a bank. Miles managed to knock the Ringer out. When the police then arrived at the scene, Captain Frank Quaid tried to discuss Miles' motives as the new Spider-Man. Through Miles' combative and childish answers, Quaid surmised that this Spider-Man too was a teenager and informed Miles that he worked with the former Spider-Man from time to time. Quaid thanked Miles for his assistance, but told him he was too young to be Spider-Man and to go home.

Meeting Bombshell[]

During school Lori and Lana Baumgartner, the Bombshells Their first heist was foiled by Spider-Man and Lana was placed under arrest and most likely sent to a S.H.I.E.L.D. Maximum Security Facility for Mutants. After Lana's arrest, the courts deemed her a victim of poor parental influence and Lana's grandmother was awarded custody as her guardian. As a fresh start, Lana was transferred to Brookyln Visions, the very school Miles, and Ganke were attending.

Lana ignored everyone in school on her first day, not until Miles came to introduce himself. Lana was offended because she thought Miles wanted to see if she was easy to put out, but Miles insisted he wanted to extend a hand of friendship. When Lana didn't believe Miles´s intentions, she walked off, but not before Miles identified her as a Bombshell. Surprised that Miles even knows, Miles explained she gave herself away due to her potty mouth. Lana begged Miles to not reveal her identity to anyone and Miles agreed after assurances she's not there to blow up the school.Lana was released on parole under the conditions she didn't use her powers before she was eighteen. She was chased by Cloak and Dagger in hopes of finding answers about what happened to them. She was captured, but it would seem she escaped or was released.

The new Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and Spider-Woman found her the next day to offer her help, but Taskmaster arrived seeking to capture all three of them. While the others distracted him, Lana had the opportunity to flee but decided to help them, eventually working with them to overpower Taskmaster before the group confronted Roxxon and his Brain Trust. They successful brought them to justice with her expressing her interest in teaming up again.

Otto figured out who Spider-Man was and ambushed him ontop a train, with Miles barely escaping with his life. When Miles was searching for clues to defeat the Sinister Six, Miles came across another vigilante, the Prowler, who soon after revealed himself to be Miles' uncle Aaron. Aaron appealed to Miles to leave, though Miles disagreed stubbornly and continued searching for clues, with Davis reluctantly helping. Upon acquiring at, Miles saw that a person named Curtis Carr had tried to cure Norman and prevent Parker´s death, but Norman injured Curtis, destroyed the cure, and planted explosives around the lab. Miles absorbed the energy of the bombs onto himself, releasing a giant blast and destroying the lab, and he and Davis escaped.

During school, Miles got a phone call asking to meet him at a certain direction, during his way there, he faced Vulture. When he finally arrived to the address (a warehouse) Aunt May and Gwen approached Miles in order to give him Peter Parker's web-shooters. Captain America came out of the shadows and said Miles shouldn't be Spider-Man.After Captain America gets a call about the The Sinister Six attacking the city, he tells Miles he'll arrest him and tell his parents about his spider-powers if he continues to be Spider-Man. When Captain America leaves the warehouse, Aunt May gives Miles a box containing Peter Parker's old web-shooters, some cartridges of web-fluid, and the formula on how to make more web-fluid. Aunt May then tells Miles to go help Captain America and not do what Peter Parker would do, but what Miles Morales would do.Miles web-slings (with much difficulty due to him using the web-shooters for the first time) downtown and helps Captain America defeat the The Sinister Six using his Venom Blast and after the battle, Captain America agrees to let him be Spider-Man, but says he needs training.

Donald Roxxon was being frequently targeted and attacked by costumed hired villains: Killer Shrike, Omega Red, and The Spot. Concerned for his life, Donald hired Silver Sable and her Wild Pack to find out who was responsible for the attacks, which he believed that Spider-Man (who has been heroically intervening in stopping the villains) knew. After the Wild Pack captured Spider-Man and brought him before Roxxon, Spider-Man truthfully said that he had no clue who was against Roxxon. Initially skeptical, Donald had Spider-Man's fingerprints scanned and then shockingly learning that he was protected by S.H.I.E.L.D. and only alerted the organization to their location including Spider-Woman, Cloak, Dagger, and Kitty Pryde, and Bombshell. This caused Sable and her mercenaries to quit and decide to leave Roxxon to his ordeal with S.H.I.E.L.D which lead to a battle between the young heroes and Roxxon´s guards. After shutting Roxxon for good, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Cloak, Dagger and Bombshell decided to remain a team.

Powers and Abilities[]

Miles´s power grid

Powers[]

Spider Physiology: Miles Morales gained the proportionate abilities of a spider after being bitten by a spider which had been genetically-modified with the Oz formula.

  • Superhuman Strength: Miles possesses superhuman strength, making him capable of lifting at least 10 tons. His physical strength also extends into his legs, enabling him to be able to jump to a height of several stories in a single bound. He has to pull his punches and kicks, otherwise, his blows would prove fatal to a normal human. Like Peter Parker, in times of great duress, he sometimes displays far greater feats of strength. During the events of Secret Empire, after watching Black Widow's murder, Miles shattered Captain America's shield with a single punch. Even though the shield was in no way as durable as Rogers' classic Vibranium shield, it was still extremely durable.
  • Superhuman Speed: Miles possesses the proportionate speed of a spider, therefore he can run and move at speeds that are beyond the physical limits of the finest human athlete. Miles was able to move fast enough to reach an airplane as it took off, and Assessor stated that he had a faster reaction than some attack drones.
  • Superhuman Stamina: Spider-Man's advanced musculature produces less fatigue toxins during physical activity than an ordinary human. This allows him to exert himself physically for much longer periods of time before fatigue begins to impair him. At his peak, Spider-Man can physically exert himself for several hours before the build-up of fatigue toxins in his blood begins to impair him.
  • Superhuman Durability: Miles' body is physically tougher and more resistant to some types of injury than the body of a normal human. His body is also more resistant to impact forces than most humans. He can withstand great impacts, such as being thrown through a plate-glass window, that would severely injure or kill a normal human. Miles has been shown capable of showing no and little discomfort when he had a wooden stick and a beer mug break against him, respectively. During an altercation with the Roxxon mercenary Taskmaster, Miles was thrown through a brick wall without any apparent serious injury, though the experience was a little bit painful for him.
  • Superhuman Agility: Miles' agility, balance, flexibility, and bodily coordination are all enhanced to levels that are far beyond the natural physical limits of an Olympic-level gymnast.
  • Superhuman Equilibrium: Miles possesses the ability to achieve a state of perfect equilibrium in any position imaginable. He seems able to adjust his position by instinct, which enables him to balance himself on virtually any object, no matter how small or narrow.
  • Superhuman Reflexes: Spider-Man's reflexes are similarly enhanced and are currently about 20 times greater than those of an ordinary human. In combination with his spider-sense, the speed of his reflexes allows him to dodge almost any attack.
  • Wall-Crawling: Miles can cling to any surface using just his fingertips and feet. The extent to how much pressure he can stick to walls is thus far unknown, except that he can handle lifting his own weight.
  • Spider-Sense: When danger is present, Miles feels a buzzing sensation in his head as a sort of early warning system, allowing him to react accordingly. His spider-sense offers him near complete awareness of his surroundings, and in conjunction with his reflexes, allows him to instinctively dodge or counter nearly all attacks. His spider-sense seems to be greatly enhanced compared to that of Peter Parker. One example occurs the night that Peter is killed; Miles dreamed that he, himself, was being attacked by Electro, when, at the same time, the real Electro was preparing to hunt and murder Peter Parker many miles away. He was also able to sense that reality was not quite right while he was with Tony Stark. This suggests that Miles' ability may be borderline precognitive, as opposed to only warning of immediate danger.
  • Bio-Electrokinesis: Miles possesses control over the natural electricity his body produces. He is capable of utilizing it for offensive purposes.
    • Venom Blast: Miles can send a bio-electric shock to his enemies or destroy technology by releasing a small spark of electricity from his hands. After the initial spark, moments later the enemy will be electrocuted. It seems that there are varying degrees to this ability, as some opponents have been simply dazed where others have been completely incapacitated. It also seems more effective on people with genetic alterations, such as the Green Goblin and Venom. This power provides a great advantage as Miles can end a confrontation quickly with little collateral damage. It can break chains being used to restrain Miles,, and even repel non-ferrous objects, such as plastic Lego bricks. The venom strike is powerful enough to render Cassandra Lang unconscious while she was large as Hank Pym's Giant-Man. It is powerful enough to drive away the symbiotic villain Venom during Miles' first encounter with the creature, but by their second encounter, Venom had developed such a tolerance to the strike that Miles had to be completely enveloped by the symbiote before the venom strike could separate the symbiote from its host. Doctor Octopus also developed a set of tentacles that would not conduct the venom strike.
      • Venom Beam: Miles showed he could channel his bio-electricity outward as a direct burst of electrostatic energy to knock away enemies in a stunning/concussive manner.
      • Mega Venom Blast: Miles displayed the ability to release powerful bursts of energy. When Miles employs this ability, his eyes glow with yellow energy, which then explodes outwards in a radiant burst that can not only repel a large group of opponents but also destroy thick ropes and chains that have been used to restrain him. After first using it, Miles was left exhausted. It's powerful enough to destroy much of the Hydra laboratory Miles was being held in. This ability can be triggered by extreme stress, or focus on Miles' part, as he consciously activated it in his escape from Black Cat.
      • Venom Punch: Miles can enhance the power of his punches by infusing his fists with bio-electricity.
    • Energy-Thread Generation: Miles can produce threads of bio-electricity from his hands. Said spinnerets carry the same tensile prehensility of his web fluid, allowing him to swing from place to place or yank and flail around his opponents. He can also send a debilitating electric shock which disrupts their nervous systems like his venom blasts do.
    • Lateral Repulsion: Spider-Man learned the electromagnetic aspect of his Venom Blasts can be used to bound off of metallic/surface elements with greater force than when jumping or web-swinging. He took notes from Mindspinner's use of his powers to do so in order to bound towards a floating barge outside of his reach at one point to rescue a friend.
  • Spider-Camouflage: Miles, including his clothing, can blend into his surroundings, allowing him to sneak up on his enemies or, in some cases, flee from them. The resulting effect closely resembles that of invisibility.
  • Regenerative Healing Factor: Miles is able to regenerate his injuries at a much faster rate than normal humans can. This was first displayed when the original spider-bite that gave him powers turned from "huge and gross looking" to a dot within ten minutes.
  • Immortality : Norman Osborn believed immortality to be a side effect of the Oz formula, because Miles' body was altered by the Oz formula, he could also have such a power in theory.

Abilities[]

Bilingualism: Miles speaks English and Spanish.

Hand-to-Hand Combat: Despite not having any training in combat, Miles' spider-sense and reflexes make him a capable melee fighter. He has studied Peter's moves in combat by watching old footage of his past battles to improve his own combat skills. He has also received combat training from the Ultimates and was taught Drunken Fu by his Uncle Aaron when watching Jackie Chan movies.

Physical Strength[]

Class 10

Paraphernalia[]

Equipment[]

Spider-Man's Suit: Miles originally wore a cheap Spider-Man costume, before wearing his red and black suit.

Web-Shooters: Originally created and used by Peter Parker, Aunt May gave Peter's web-shooters to Miles. Over a year later, Miles was given an updated pair by his world's S.H.I.E.L.D.

Transportation[]

After his web-shooters were stolen from him, Miles had once again no means for fast travel besides his enhanced speed, wall-crawling, and leaping abilities. His new Bioelectric thread works in place of his web-shooters as his means of transport.
