History

Peter, you know, your Uncle Ben had a saying. He believed that if you had great power, that meant you also had great responsibility.

May Reilly and Ben Parker got married right out of High School. They were ready to spend the rest of their lives together and one day start a family. But they were devastated when they discovered that May was barren and unable to conceive a child.

A few years went by, and they thought they had come to accept how things were going to be, and then their nephew Peter was placed in their care. After his parents died mysteriously, May put all of her love and effort into raising Peter as if he was her own son. Over the years, he came to see her as a mother as well.

Tragedy struck May once more the night that Ben was shot and killed. This left her with nothing but Peter, who she started to become very overprotective of. The more time went by, the more suspicious May became that Peter was hiding something from her. Eventually, she discovered his Spider-Man suit in the laundry and suddenly everything made sense.

She decided not to confront Peter about it and wait until he was ready to tell her. The day came when he discovered he had been cloned, and she was then introduced to Jessica Drew, Peter's female clone. May was overjoyed and vehemently welcomed Jessica into the family, promising to be the mother she never had.
