May Parker (Earth-2223)

As a teenager, May Reilly was attracted to attractive rich boy Johnny Jerome, who courted May and bought her fancy gifts. Ultimately, Ben Parker revealed to her than Johnny's financing came from a criminal career, causing May to promptly break off their courtship. She and Ben then began a relationship and they eventually married. They tried to have children for several years but were unsuccessful. They consigned themselves to live their lives together, until Ben's younger brother Richard and his wife Mary died in a plane crash leaving May and Ben to look after their young son Peter.

Raising Peter

May and Ben created a loving household for Peter, filled with the love of real parents. Unfortunately money was tight, as May was a waitress and Ben was a firefighter, and neither jobs gave large amounts of money. At school, Peter was shy and studious but his Aunt and Uncle supported him to make friends. In High School, Peter was bitten by a radioactive spider and gained powers but decided not to tell anyone, including May and Ben. When Peter was out one night, a man attempted to forcefully enter the house and Ben's attempt to stop him ended with his death.

Volunteering

After Ben's death, May began volunteering at a soup kitchen, saying that "retirement is pointless with no one to spend it with". Here, she met fellow widower Adrian Toomes, although she was unaware of his identity as costumed villain The Vulture. After he was imprisoned and his identity revealed, she seemed to be emotionally effected although she didn't reveal this to Peter.
