History

Maximus Boltagon hated being the middle child. He knew he would never be first in line to be King of Attilan, and he knew his parents would never give him as much devotion as they did to his younger brother, Blackagar.
When Blackagar rose to become King, Maximus put up the front of being supportive of him and becoming his council. However, he secretly began plotting a revolution. When Black Bolt was on Earth, he rose up and seized the throne for himself, only to be quickly deposed by the combined might of the Inhuman Royal Family and the Fantastic Four.
He was able to escape capture and ventured to Earth to live in hiding while he planned his revenge. He even found himself briefly aligned with a group of like-minded criminal masterminds called the Cabal, with the sole intention of toppling the hierarchy of so-called heroes. However, his alliance with them did not last, as his view on Inhuman Supremacy conflicted with their goals, and so he returned to Attilan just in time for the Kree Empire to begin exterminating all Inhumans.
Maximus joined his family in their assault on Hala, only to discover his older brother, Vox, has been conspiring with the Kree to eliminate their race. He was able to say a final goodbye to Black Bolt after he sacrificed himself to defeat the Kree, and offered his services to help Medusa rebuild the Inhuman civilization. However, she did not trust him and refused his help, so he exiled himself to the destroyed kingdom of Attilan, where he planned to live out the rest of his days as the King of Nothing.

- Maximus is the last surviving member of the direct royal Boltagon bloodline. At least, as far as he knows. He is unaware that Medusa has given birth to Black Bolt's son, Dmitrius.
