This suit may have came from your reality, but it belonged to the Spider-Man of my universe. Spider or not, I wear this suit to honor the memory of my world's greatest hero. I won't let you take it from me!

History

Matthew Vogel seemingly had a similar history as his Earth-1610 counterpart up until the death of Peter Parker.

The Will and Testament of Peter Parker

In his will, Peter left Matthew his Electro-Proof Suit, a costume designed by the Spider-Man of the Amazing Dimension to defeat his world's Electro. Not wanting the world to forget Peter, Matthew decided to wear this suit as his new Crusader uniform.

He was quickly confronted by Spider-Woman, who believed he was attempting to be the new Spider-Man. Vogel revealed to his friend his identity and that he was still going to be the Crusader. Not long after, he sought out Peter's successor, Miles Morales. He initially thought Matthew was going to fight him for the mantle, but Vogel rebuffed him and actually offered to help the rookie any way he could.

Tangled States

When Earth-803 was overrun by the Electro-Verse, Octavia Otto traveled the Multiverse to backup the defending Web-Warriors. When Octavia came to him, Crusader explained that he wasn't one of the Spider-Totems and offered to call them, but as time was of the essence, the army decided to induct him instead.

During the Battle of Battery Park, Matthew was found by Bernice Williams, the new Electro of the Amazing Dimension. She became obsessed with taking the suit back home. Using the suit to protect himself, he was able to get close enough to knock her out.

With Captain Quaid

While battling R.H.I.N.O., the villain caused a building to collapse. This damaged his armor, allowing Crusader to mess with his circuitry to shut him down. A young child failed to get away in time and police Captain Quaid sacrificed himself to save them. Matthew blamed himself for the captain's death.

Crusader was recruited by Miguel O'Hara, the Spider-Man of E-928, into the Spider Society, an interdimensional group dedicated to protecting the Multiverse from anomalies. When the Miles Morales of E-1610 sought to prevent Spot from killing his father, Captain Morales, the society wanted to stop him to preserve his timeline.

Miles ran from the base and into Nueva York. Crusader fought him and revealed that Miles' tricks wouldn't work on him due to helping train his variant from the Ultimate Dimension. He ultimately came to the epiphany that if he's anything like his Miles, then he's doing what he thinks is right. Matthew asked Miles to fake take him out. He thought of leaving the group in protest, like he noticed Spider-Punk did, but he felt he could do more good helping the society battle the Spot.
