History

Quote1 Good Gods, I see... I see everything! Quote2
-- Daredevil

Matt Murdock was raised in Hell's Kitchen by his father, Jack, who was making his career as a boxer. When Matt was 11, he was in an accident where experimental chemicals splashed into his eyes, blinding him, but also completely enhancing his other senses. His father agreed to train him in how to navigate without his sight, but it was cut short when he was assassinated by henchmen of the Kingpin for refusing to throw a fight.

Matt was then taken in by St. Agnes' Orphanage, and was taken under the tutelage of a man named Stick, who suffered from the same affliction as Matt. Over time, Matt managed to hone his powers and became dedicated to cleaning up Hell's Kitchen by any means necessary. This resulted in him enrolling in Law School so that he could develop a cover identity as Hell's Kitchen's blind lawyer, so that no one would suspect him of being the vigilante Daredevil.

Over the years, Daredevil would go on to work beside other heroes like Spider-Man and the Punisher. He also crossed paths with a woman named Elektra, who had also been raised by Stick, but separately, and was trained by the Hand to kill Daredevil. However, after multiple confrontations, the two found themselves falling in love.

When Daredevil discovered that Elektra's sect of the Hand was in bed with the Kingpin, he was heartbroken, and became dedicated to bringing down Wilson Fisk through the means of the law, while also dismantling his business on the side as Daredevil. His vigilante activities would eventually catch the attention of the Avengers, and he was able to convince them that what he was doing was necessary for the good of his city.

He was then allowed to operate with little interference from S.H.I.E.L.D. However, his attention would be broadened with the Prophecy of Infinity resulted in Asgard relocating to the Earth after the destruction of their homeland. Daredevil offered his services to help rebuild alongside other heroes, and came to discover that the Guardian of the Bifrost, Heimdall had died in the transition. A conversation between Daredevil, Thor, and his mother, Freyja, he agreed to take up the mantle of the Guardian. After first wielding the Bifrost Sword, he was overwhelmed with the sensation of being connected to all Nine Realms, but was eventually able to adapt. The new Bifrost Citadel would then be erected in the heart of Hell's Kitchen at the abandoned St. Agnes Church, allowing Daredevil to focus on all of his responsibilities at once.
