Marvel's The Incredible Hulk 2 is a 2010 live-action superhero film produced by 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios based on the superhero, the Incredible Hulk. It is the overall fifth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and a direct sequel to the previous Marvel Studios film, The Incredible Hulk. It was released worldwide on November 5th 2010.

Production[]

The Incredible Hulk 2 was originally disputed within Marvel Studios, since even though the first film received generally positive reviews, feedback and box office, it still wasn't quite the hit they were initially hoping for, but still decided to try again with a sequel, giving Darren Aronofsky more creative freedom but with a decreased budget.

It was already known from the end-credits scene that The Leader would be the main villain of the movie, and Samuel Sterns' portrayer, Tim Blake Nelson, but Aronofsky was interested in a doing a psychological film for the sequel, and not just have it be action again. It was later confirmed the film would be taking much inspiration from the Peter David Hulk stories, causing rumors to begin circulating that the classic Gray Hulk would make an appearance in the film.

It was later confirmed at Comic Con that their would be larger references to the greater universe in this movie, especially S.H.I.E.L.D. with a confirmed guest appearance from Cobie Smulders, reprising her role as Agent Maria Hill, originally in Black Widow and Hawkeye. It was also announced that the rapper Bow Wow would making an appearance in the film as well. Principle filming was held in late 2009 and was released on November 5th 2010 around the world.

Plot[]

Act 1[]

The film starts with the inside of a human body functioning normally until it once again starts to mutate and become green, until mutating even further turning into a multitude of different colors only after doing so to show the main title The Incredible Hulk 2 while the camera pans out from Bruce Banner's eye as he wakes up living in a Rio De Janeiro slum. He gets up, puts on his clothes, eats breakfast, rinses his mouth, and goes to his job at the Brewery until coming back home at the end of the day, where he starts chatting over the dark web under the alias Mr. Green with someone conversely named Mr. Blue who brainstorms with him about calming techniques to help control the Hulk.

Meanwhile in the United States, Samuel Sterns arrives at his job in the Los Alamos National Laboratory where one of the scientists, Phillip, scolds him for being late. Samuel assures him the train was slow today and Phillip responds should've gotten his license when Mom and Dad told him. Samuel yells out that he's been clean for over a year, asking what else he wants from him. Phillip warns Samuel to keep his voice down before insisting that he stuck his neck out to get him this job, if he messes this up he's on the street. Phillip then goes to work in the lab while Samuel, standing outside, gets out his mop and bucket to start cleaning.

At Culver University, Betty Ross is giving a lecture on neural plasticity before making way to her office where she finds a package outside the door. She smiles seeing it's addressed to her from Katherine Waynesboro and opens it at her desk, finding that it's a white flower inside and looks at an old picture of her and Bruce together before using the flower to synthesize a concoction that she tests on a Gamma Irradiated blood cell, which at first causes it temporarily return to normal, before suddenly transforming once again, Betty sighing in disappointment.

The telephone then rings which she picks up only for her father, General Ross, to be on the other line. He warmly greets her but Betty remains distant until Ross tells her that he has next weekend off and wonders if she'd want to meet up in person, spend some time together. Betty fabricates that she's busy and Ross, changing his tone, asks if this is the thanks he gets for clearing all her charges. Betty responds that she never asked for his help to which Ross reminds her yet she still accepted it.

Back in Brazil at the Brewery, Bruce is working at his station assembling bottles until a coworker purposely bumps him into which causes Bruce to accidentally cut his finger leaking blood into one of the bottles. While trying to calm himself and not respond, the blood drop is processed through the assembly line, out of sight before anyone can notice. In his slum later, Bruce goes on the computer where he tells Mr. Blue that work sucked. Mr. Blue asks if it's the same guy again and Bruce adds on that he almost had an incident but Mr. Blue reminds him that he didn't, afterwards saying to keep practicing his mindfulness.

At the Los Alamos National Laboratory, Samuel is preparing to go home with everyone else until Phillip tells him that he can't leave yet, there's a busted pipe upstairs in the men’s room, he needs to clean it up. Samuel asks if the night shift crew can handle it but Phillip reminds him they're eating dinner. Samuel argues by telling him no, he's done for the day, but Phillip insists that this is the job and he's lucky he reminded him. Phillip then leaves with the rest of the other scientists and it cuts to Samuel later putting a dollar into the vending machine. The machine though doesn't do anything and Samuel angrily smacks it multiple times until a soda bottle drops from the dispenser which he picks up and drinks from, causing him to become lightheaded before collapsing onto the floor, his forehead beginning to expand.

News channels all over the country report on the incident in Los Alamos where janitor Samuel Sterns became hospitalized after drinking an irradiated bottle of soda as it then shows at the Pentagon where General Ross is in a meeting with top military personnel telling them this soda bottle story that's been making the rounds might be a blessing in disguise. They ask what he's talking about and Ross explains that he had the lab run what was left of the soda. The results, blood cells, with RAD numbers off the charts, only one man he knows with radioactive blood.

General Glenn Talbot asks if he thinks Bruce Banner's been hiding out in Brazil this whole time and blew his cover to which Ross responds asking if he can think of another explanation. Talbot insists then they need to reinstate Project Greenskin and send someone to investigate but Ross insists he already has them on standby.

That night in Brazil, Bruce is in his slum meditating until getting disturbed by a loud noise outside. It’s then revealed to be the Military led by General Ross who break in and start looking around, the soldiers insisting there's no sign of him. General Ross tells them to search the block as it cuts to Bruce outside the slum, running through the city trying to avoid getting spotted only to accidentally bump into his coworker. Even after Bruce tries to calm things down he ends up getting punched, falling to his knees as his eyes are revealed to be glowing green.

It then shows the soldiers searching the streets before hearing a monstrous roar and being confronted by the Hulk. They try to defend themselves but Hulk easily dispatches all of them before escaping into the rainforest, General Ross enraged over his failure to contain him. The next morning, Bruce wakes up in shredded clothes near a waterfall. He gets up and starts wandering around until hearing footsteps near him, he starts trying to run away but the footsteps keep getting closer and closer until Bruce falls down after rushing into a giant muscular man with long green hair and a red shirt containing a lightning bolt in the center, who he recognizes as his old therapist, Leonard Samson.

Leonard helps Bruce up claiming that it's nice to see him again "Mr. Green" which allows Bruce to realize he must be Mr. Blue. Surprised he reached out to him for all these years Samson insists of course he did, that he's quite literally the most famous psychiatric patient in the entire field, he's dedicated his whole career to him, and how Gamma Radiation fits into it all. Afterwards stating which needless to say had its perks, Samson flexing his muscles to him. Suddenly, Betty is then revealed to be with him too as she runs over and they tightly hug.

Once they're done Samson insists they have fresh clothes and supplies waiting for him on the plane. Bruce is confused that they have a plane and Betty says they'll show him as they all walk to the quinjet parked in the middle of rainforest with Agent Jim Wilson waiting for them, introducing himself before telling Bruce "welcome to S.H.I.E.L.D." In the emergency room at a hospital in Los Alamos, Samuel Sterns is revealed to now have green skin and an oversized cranium. The doctors see him start to awaken and begin doing tests on his vitals while Samuel complains that his head hurts, but they ignore him.

The veins in Samuel's head begin to enlarge as he starts telepathically hearing the thoughts of the doctors, learning how he was infected and deformed from Gamma Radiation exposure. Realizing that, he starts mentally calculating how was infected, figuring out it was from the soda bottle he drank, only to then further calculate how the amount of radioactive material necessary to turn him could only have come from Bruce Banner, the Hulk. Through more visual representations Sterns calculates how hated the Hulk is and how he'll be treated the same, until realizing that he'll be able to fight back. In retaliation, Sterns uses his telekinesis to repel all the doctors off of him before getting up.

Act 2[]

At the Los Alamos National Laboratory, an ambulance crashes into the lobby which is revealed to be driven by Samuel Sterns and security tries to detain him before becoming horrified once they see his face. He then begins crushing and throwing them out of his way until getting to the laboratory. Samuel then kills the rest of the scientists leaving only him and his brother. Once Phillip recognizes him Samuel says he wasn't at the hospital and Phillip insists he visited everyday until Samuel reads his mind before calling him a liar and telekinetically choking him.

Phillip gasps for air pleading that this was nothing new, he was always overdosing, he thought he'd just get over it like he always did. In response, Samuel angrily strangles him before bringing his attention to the technology in the labs, yelling that they're amateur before ripping them all down with his telekinesis, eventually uncovering the old nuclear reactors used during the Manhattan Project. He asks what they have here and looks over them before calculating with a visual representation how Gamma Radiation exposure changed him than it can do the same to everyone else. Sterns then starts sabotaging the nuclear reactors before adding his blood to it, causing them to release a wave of Gamma Radiation over all of Los Alamos and the surrounding desert.

Meanwhile, Jim Wilson is shown in the quinjet asking for permission to enter the Playground as he then lands inside of a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility where they're all welcomed by Katherine Waynesboro. Bruce greets her before looking around and claiming she's done well for herself while Katherine explains that she was hired by S.H.I.E.L.D. once they caught on to her research, they'll be safe here. Later, in their room together Betty and Bruce begin kissing each other passionately before getting on the bed to have sex until Bruce notices himself on the verge of transforming as he gets more excited. He forces them to stop and Betty asks what's wrong, after Bruce explains he says that they can lay together instead, Betty only half heartedly agreeing.

At the Pentagon, General Talbot and Ross are in a meeting where he tells him he just got done talking to the President, there's a been follow up to the soda bottle incident in Los Alamos, a nuclear meltdown this time, whole town's been contaminated with levels of Gamma Radiation unseen since Chernobyl. Ross asks what he wants him to do about it, insisting his men are still looking for the Hulk until Talbot tells him they already found the Hulk and lost him, this needs attention right now. Ross argues if he can just give him more time until Talbot interrupts that the Hulk stops being a priority when American lives are on the line, now stop whining and do his job.

It then cuts to Military convoys and soldiers stationing themselves outside of Los Alamos, seeing it completely covered in a thick green fog. The soldiers claim that their scanners can't penetrate it and General Ross tells them to trudge forward, help anyone they can, and get out once they find out what they're dealing with. The soldiers argue they'll be going in blind but Ross argues the sooner they finish up here the sooner they can all go home. The soldiers then put on their equipment and begin moving in, unable to see anything once they get inside until noticing what looks like civilians walking. They try to help them until they're revealed to be Gamma Mutants who attack the soldiers and their convoys, breaking their equipment apart and exposing them to the fog, turning them into Gamma Mutants as well, Ross noticeably unsettled once he loses contact with them.

The wandering soldiers are shown to be transformed in a variety of diverse ways by the Gamma Radiation until Sterns begins telepathically getting into their heads, enabling their worst impulses and demanding they obey him as their Leader. It then cuts to the National Laboratory where the Leader calculates a scenario of him altering the nuclear reactors to advance the Gamma Radiation fog further only to realize humanity would fight back. The Leader then figures out if the Hulk was on his side humanity wouldn't stand a chance which would allow him to quickly take over the entire planet, dropping Gamma Bombs over the population and turning all of mankind. After making this revelation, the veins in Leader's head begin enlarging as he starts telepathically searching for the Hulk.

At the Playground, Bruce notices himself getting a mild headache until he's approached by Agent Maria Hill. She introduces herself before telling him that S.H.I.E.L.D. has been working with Doctor Samson to develop a strict regimen that'll help control his transformations. She starts walking with him while explaining it'll consist of at least two hours of intense cognitive behavioral therapy everyday with his only human contact being Samson, Betty, and whoever's escorting him. Bruce asks how long that's gonna last and Hill responds at the very least until Los Alamos is under control. Bruce then wonders what that means and Hill insists not to worry about it.

Bruce afterwards walks into a large room as the door closes behind him and he sees Leonard Samson in an office chair taking notes before insisting for Bruce to have a seat, his attention shifting to a high tech treatment table placed opposite to where Leonard is. He gets onto it as the machinery begins powering up and it cuts to Katherine Waynesboro in another room monitoring his vitals, noting to Agent Hill he's stable, for now. Back in the session, Samson asks Bruce to tell him about the last two years, emphasizing off the grid in Brazil, that wouldn't have been easy for anyone. Bruce explains he barely had time to take any of it in, everyday was just making sure the other guy wouldn't come out.

Leonard asks what would've happened if he did and Bruce wonders if this is a good idea. Samson insists the first step to recovery is admitting that there's a problem. Bruce remains skeptical until Leonard reminds him how many times he calmed him down in Brazil without even knowing it was him, he's stronger than he thinks. Bruce finally takes a breath and continues on that if he loses control, he's gonna lose everything he cares about. Samson observes that he used to say that all the time in their old sessions and Bruce responds he wouldn't turn into a green rage monster back then either and Samson asks if that really mattered. Bruce shoots back of course it did before sitting there for a second and rephrasing that he doesn't know.

In Los Alamos, the Leader is continuing to telepathically hijack Bruce's mind, digging deeper into his psyche until it shows back in the therapy session, Bruce begins ranting about how he wouldn't have leveled a town but it's not like he knew any other way to express himself before that. Samson insists this is good and to keep going as Bruce then starts speaking more about it wasn't just when he was angry, it was anything, anything he ever felt that was too complicated or troublesome or ugly, it was never an option. Samson asks why that is and Bruce yells because he wanted to hurt them, all of them, and not because he had to, because he wanted to, "that's who I am!" Katherine Waynesboro notices his heart rate rising and after informing Agent Hill she demands they have to get in there.

Despite Leonard's pleas that they've done enough for today and to calm down, Bruce is unable to and reveals his eyes to be glowing gray as he then begins transforming into a smaller, more malfigured, gray version of his regular Hulk form. Agent Hill observes "that's new" while the Gray Hulk exclaims in relief how nice it is not to be stuck with puny Banner and that green idiot anymore, perfectly articulate in his speech. Leonard Samson addresses "Hulk" before wondering if he can still call him that and Gray Hulk asks what else he would call him, he's the real deal, not that other guy. Samson suggests he have a seat then, let’s explore that, but Gray Hulk tells him to get lost, he's not doing this psycho mumbo jumbo no more when there's a whole world out there that needs living in.

Samson though insists he'll come with him only for Gray Hulk to yell that he said get lost before attacking him, launching Samson through the roof as Agent Hill and the backup S.H.I.E.L.D. agents begin opening fire. Hill warns the agents to keep him distracted until he calms... before she can finish Samson suddenly lands back inside right on top of Gray Hulk, Hill finally completing her sentence "down". The two of them continue fighting through the base until Gray Hulk starts to get the upper hand, as he lays badly beaten, Samson says that he knows Bruce is in there and to please remember, Gray Hulk though proceeds to smash into him, crushing Leonard to death.

He then breaks out of the Playground and jumps off into the wilderness, the Leader afterwards telepathically communicating with Gray Hulk praising him before saying to now come to him, come and help destroy this world to make anew. Gray Hulk then telepathically yells back to leave him alone, shocking the Leader as he flinches before telling him no, he doesn’t understand, and as he tries to argue Gray Hulk simply stops responding despite pining for his attention. It shows later that night Gray Hulk standing outside Las Vegas where he makes it to the Strip, blending into the crowd as everyone's in costume for a Halloween party.

Act 3[]

Back at the Playground, Leonard Samson is zipped into a body bag while Jim Wilson tells Agent Hill that he's gotten a dozen reports from all over the country about someone who matches Hulk's description, they're not gonna be able to narrow down a lead until after Halloween's over. Betty meanwhile is seen being comforted by Katherine Waynesboro while she cries over Bruce's disappearance, insisting that she thought it was all gonna be over. Suddenly, they all hear a crash and as they investigate Agent Hill sees the body bag Leonard Samson was held in ripped open and a huge hole broken through the wall.

General Ross in his office is talking on the phone to Greenskin soldiers, coordinating ways to infiltrate Los Alamos until General Talbot walks in. Ross says he'll call them back and hangs up before asking Talbot what he can do for him. Talbot responds that Project Greenskin is going to be put on hold for the foreseeable future, that with everything they've been dealing with their best course of action going forward is to let S.H.I.E.L.D. take over. Ross angrily responds that this isn't fair, he can't throw away everything he's been building just to take the easy way out, those men deserve better! Talbot responds that he's lucky they kept up this farce as long as they did, there's a country to protect and people to serve, that they've made their decision warning him not to make this harder for himself. After Talbot walks out General Ross furiously throws his phone across the room.

In Las Vegas, the corpse of Leonard Samson walks through the strip as a Half-Life Gamma Zombie past the crowds of costumed civilians, eventually being spotted by a child whom he looks at and snarls, scaring them. Inside of a nearby Casino, Gray Hulk is dressed in a newly purchased suit and tie playing Blackjack until winning the jackpot. Everyone cheers for him until Gray Hulk rudely gets the attention of one of the waitresses, ordering another round for the table until hearing someone call out for Bruce Banner.

Gray Hulk gets up and turns around, seeing Half-Life standing behind him before shouting out that his name is Hulk, yelling so loudly to get the attention of the whole Casino. Half-Life says that he's been ignoring him, Gray Hulk afterwards recognizing who he is as the camera reveals Half-Life to be telepathically controlled by the Leader in Los Alamos and talking through him. He explains what he's offering him is the chance to change the world with the same Gamma Radiation that made them, to remake the entire human race in their image. With the Leader and Half-Life shown talking simultaneously he says that everyone who hated him and attacked him, they will be him, he's seen into his mind before, he knows that this is what he desires, what they both desire.

He ferociously laughs in response, telling Half-Life that he doesn't care about any of that, to look around, he's got everything he needs right here, asking why he would want to change anything. The Leader listens in discontentment before screaming that he's no different than the rest of them before having Half-Life attack Gray Hulk causing the two to battle throughout the Casino. Eventually their fight is interrupted by the Military and S.H.I.E.L.D. working together. Inside of a quinjet, General Talbot is watching the fight unfold before Agent Jim Wilson asks which to shoot, Talbot angrily insisting both of them! With the Military and S.H.I.E.L.D's forces, they're able to blow Half-Life's corpse to pieces but can't subdue Gray Hulk.

Eventually though, Betty is released by S.H.I.E.L.D. into the Casino and yells for Gray Hulk to stop. He does as told, locking eye contact with Betty as he slowly walks over and she tells him let's talk only for Gray Hulk to respond by throwing her onto his back and leaping them both away from the Military and out of Las Vegas all the way to the top of the Hoover Dam. Gray Hulk then says, he's listening, and in response she says Bruce but he warns her not to call him that only for Betty to bluntly ask or what, is he gonna kill her too, she doesn't think he has it in him, she thinks he's just as much Bruce as the man she fell in love with. Gray Hulk says Bruce is weak, he doesn't know how to get what he wants or to protect what's his, demanding to know why she even wants him back.

She argues that it's the same reason he does apparently. Gray Hulk asks what she’s talking about and Betty says that he only exists whenever Bruce feels like he's in trouble, he's saved his life more than her or anyone else. Gray Hulk yells that he's never done anything for Bruce but Betty yells back that everything he's done has been for him. Gray Hulk responds that was the green guy and Betty spits back that they're the same! In rage he then tries to punch her but stops himself, dropping his fist before muttering Betty's name as he caresses her face in his hand and she places her palm against it. He then collapses before transforming back into Bruce Banner as the sun rises in the distance.

In Los Alamos, the Leader is shown to be tinkering with the nuclear reactors, muttering about how people are always so unpredictable, should've never questioned his own brilliance. He then finishes working on the reactors as they start powering up and the fog of Gamma Radiation begins expanding past Los Alamos through the desert, corrupting all the soldiers, plants, and animals in his way. S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Military meanwhile are clearing up the mess in the Casino until a convoy arrives with Bruce and Betty on it. Agent Hill runs up to them telling Bruce he looks better and he says that he feels better, just sad about what happened to Doctor Samson. Hill responds that it wasn't his fault, it was Samuel Sterns, as she's about to explain who that is Bruce interrupts telling her that he knows, he can still feel him, even now.

General Ross sees his daughter and asks if she's okay. Betty responds telling him he doesn't have to pretend to care and Ross says he never pretended. Insisting that this isn't her and Betty tells him that he wishes. She then afterwards gets into the quinjet with Bruce and Agent Hill before they take off. As the quinjet is flying across the country, General Talbot answers a radio broadcast from the cockpit until hearing it's a disaster, the Los Alamos meltdown is spreading through the entire state, at this rate it'll take over Albuquerque by tomorrow. Talbot tells them so slow it down then but they say say they're throwing everything they can at it, but he doesn't know how long it's gonna last.

Talbot demands they call in reinforcements then but Agent Hill argues that won’t stop whatever's causing this, they'll have to get Black Widow and Hawkeye to sneak in and defuse the reactors. Talbot responds that there hasn't been a single platoon that's been able to even get to the parking lot and Hill says that S.H.I.E.L.D. is different until Bruce stands up and says it has to be him. They both go silent and look at him, Bruce arguing that the Hulk is immune to Gamma Radiation and he knows Sterns better than anyone else, drop him off right now and he'll take care of it. Agent Hill claims he won’t be in control but Bruce asks what other choice do they have, this all started because of him, please, Talbot saying he doesn't see a better option.

Betty though claiming they can't seriously be considering this, looking at Bruce before telling him that they just got him back. Agent Hill thinks to herself for a second until telling the pilot Jim Wilson to fly them over New Mexico. He does as told and while floating over the Gamma Radiated Los Alamos the back door opens while Talbot gives instructions that once he's in there he's gonna be on his own, they can't account for any obstacles or hostiles he might encounter. Bruce insists it's nothing the big guy can't handle. He looks behind him at Betty before jumping out of the quinjet, transforming in mid air.

Gray Hulk then lands in Los Alamos until he starts getting surrounded by Gamma Mutants who attack him, laughing as he starts fighting them off and making his way to the National Laboratory where the Leader senses his presence as the veins in his head enlarge. The Military and S.H.I.E.L.D. outside the Gamma Radiation are meanwhile fighting off any escaping Gamma Mutants as it then cuts to Gray Hulk inside the National Laboratory smashing through the building hearing the Leader's voice in his head, telling him that he knew he'd come back and Gray Hulk responding someone has to knock that oversized head off his shoulders. He then finally makes it to the main lab where they see each other face to face. Gray Hulk muttering "gotcha" as he starts approaching and the Leader telekinetically begins collapsing the hallway in on him, slowing Gray Hulk down.

The Leader then walks over and places his hands on Gray Hulk's head, gaining deeper telepathic access to his mind, asking "who are you, Bruce Banner" before going through his memories and saying there's guilt in him, enough regret to last a lifetime. Afterwards using his telepathy to cause Gray Hulk to transform into a non-humanoid, blue skinned Guilt Hulk, sprouting claws and fangs. The Military and S.H.I.E.L.D. are then shown to be continuing to fight the Gamma Mutants until Guilt Hulk appears and starts ravaging them, turning the tides in favor of the Gamma Mutants and allowing the Gamma Radiation from Los Alamos to be able to expand further.

Guilt Hulk continues to slaughter everything standing in his way until it shows inside of his mind where the Green Hulk is in an empty, blank, white space screaming like a caged animal until noticing the Gray Hulk standing behind him, telling Green that this is his fault before attacking him. Green tries to defend himself saying he's gonna beat "fake Hulk" and Gray responding that he couldn't beat a cold before overpowering him. Gray then pins him down and chokes him, taunting Green how he's even more of an embarrassment than Banner. Green uses the last of his strength to speak, saying that Hulk is the strongest one there is, before finally shouting and he's the real Hulk before pushing him off. He then starts fighting back against Gray while telling him Banner is Hulk, and Hulk is Banner!

Before he can strike the killing blow he notices that Gray is gone, nowhere to be found as he's all alone in the white space. Green then looks up as it cuts to the desert again where the Guilt Hulk is about to keep attacking until he suddenly starts transforming back into the Green Hulk. The Leader then starts suffering a painful migraine until Hulk leaps back to Los Alamos and lunges forward and with a single punch takes down the entire main lab, punching the Leader forward into a wall. Afterwards, destroying the nuclear reactors and stopping the Gamma Radiation wave from continuing any further.

The Leader, bloodied and beaten, whinges that he just wanted to make the world in his image, to which the Hulk responds that's the problem, he's ugly. Hulk then escapes the collapsing Laboratory before it falls apart, the debris crushing the Leader just as he gets away, with his death in turn causing all the Gamma Mutants he had under his telepathic control to die with him.

Days later, news channels are reporting on how what happened can be described as nothing short of a miracle, the reactors miraculously giving out and blowing up Samuel Sterns' operation has quite literally saved the entire west coast from an unprecedented catastrophe. At the Pentagon, General Talbot tells Agent Hill the cover story seems to be taking well with the press as she insists to him they've been doing this for awhile. Talbot afterwards says this isn't going to be the last time something like this comes up, he hopes they can do this again when it does. Bruce is then talking to Katherine Waynesboro who's explaining to him that it's reinforced with just about every metal on Earth and is at least a hundred miles away from any other person.

Bruce responds that he never was a cabin in the wilderness type of guy and Katherine insists it's very peaceful there, he'll have plenty of time with his thoughts. As Bruce is being escorted outside by Jim Wilson Betty catches up to him and says she'll miss him, he insists it won't be forever and Betty claims until he has to do it again. He tries to go in for a kiss but she just hugs him until he eventually gets on the quinjet with Agent Wilson. It then cuts to him being dropped off at the Cabin where Bruce settles in before sitting down and closing his eyes to meditate. He breathes in and out in a repetitive motion until quickly opening his eyes, revealing them to be glowing green.

End Credits[]

Teasing Captain America

Agent Hill enters a S.H.I.E.L.D. outpost in the middle of the arctic. She takes off her parka once she gets inside where Director Nick Fury is waiting for her. He asks how Banner’s doing and Hill says normal, for the time being. They start walking while he says they'll keep an eye on him before using a keycard to open the door which they go inside and it shows the shield of Captain America in pristine condition with multiple scientists trying to defrost the remaining ice off of it.

Trivia[]

  • Green Hulk and Gray Hulk's fight in the comics occurred in Bruce Banner's mind due to a spell cast by the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange.
  • Leonard Samson's alter ego at the beginning of the movie, Mr. Blue, is what Betty called herself when she was keeping contact with Bruce Banner in the comics.
  • Phillip Sterns on Earth-616 is a supervillain codenamed the Madman.
  • Agent Hill suggesting they call Black Widow and Hawkeye to go into Los Alamos and disable the nuclear reactors is a reference to them being a top tier S.H.I.E.L.D. duo after their solo movie used for high risk missions.
  • Gray Hulk going to Las Vegas and dressing in a suit and tie is a reference to his comic book alter ego Joe Fixit who dons a similar costume in Las Vegas acting a mob enforcer instead of a gambler.
  • The Marvel Cinematic Universe's version of the Leader appears to be an amalgamation between his comic book equivalent as well and his older brother’s, whose motivation was largely derived from a romanticized obsession with Bruce Banner and the Hulk. Sterns in the film is both an underachiever, like his comic book counterpart, and infatuated with Bruce Banner, like Phillip.
  • Jim Wilson, in the comics, is the nephew of Sam Wilson aka Falcon and traveled with the Hulk after meeting him on the street. He has no connection to S.H.I.E.L.D.
  • During the Halloween Party in Las Vegas when Gray Hulk arrives there are multiple people dressed in Iron Man costumes, signifying his now celebrity status in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the events of his two solo movies.
  • In the comics Half-Life's name is Tony Masterson and was transformed from one of the Leader's experimental gamma bombs. This version of the character is an amalgamation between him and Leonard Samson, who in the comics has no relation to Half-Life.
  • At the Hoover Dam, Gray Hulk transforms back into Bruce Banner as the sun starts to rise. This is a reference to the comic book fact Gray Hulk would transform whenever the sun would set and turn back when it rose.
  • Guilt Hulk, in the comics, is a hypothetical concept that's never existed outside of Bruce Banner's mind.
  • Agent Hill and Director Fury see S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists defrosting Captain America’s shield, the iconic weapon of the World War II superhero of the same name. It being in their possession and covered in ice is a reference to Captain America in the comics being found frozen and thawed in the present day.
