First appearance

The Marionette was once a simple toymaker immigrated from Italy with a love for puppets and marionettes, fascinated with the tale of Pinocchio. Like Geppetto, the toymaker longed for his puppets and marionettes to come to life. At some undefined point in his life, the man who would become the Marionette seemingly went insane and went on a killing spree before being apprehended by the police. While in an asylum, the man befriended an inmate who supposedly was accused of killing a family with "voodoo" magic. Intrigued, the toymaker insisted he teach him some tricks, and soon, the toymaker escaped to make use of his new talents. Eventually returning to his now abandoned toy factory, the toymaker started work on building a life-size marionette. He intended to bring this wooden man to life to do his bidding for him. However, when the police arrived on the premises, the toymaker was forced to accelerate his plans, and soon overlooked a step in the spell. Before the police entered his room, the toymaker finished his incantation, but soon learned that he had made a mistake and his mind was instead placed within the marionette. The police soon investigated, finding only the elderly toymaker's body. They were then brutally assaulted by the murderous Marionette, now full of vitality and bloodlust. Reveling in his newfound power, he decided to go on a killing spree and become the most feared criminal in the city, and adopted the moniker of the Marionette.

Powers and Abilities

The Marionette is an insane serial killer whose mind and soul were mystically placed in a life-size marionette. As such, he is able to accomplish feats only a marionette could do.

  • Superhuman Marionette Physiology: The Marionette possesses a mystically empowered wooden body with no internal organs whatsoever, granting him astonishing strength (able to lift (press) up to 2000 lbs. (approximately 1 ton), stamina, durability, endurance, and resistance. He no longer requires food, water, or sleep to survive. He is also immune to all human-based diseases and illnesses.
  • Superhuman Agility: The Marionette possesses superhuman agility rivaling that of the superheroine Cheetari or the superhero the Zoologist. He can walk a tightrope or a slack rope as easily as most people can walk on a sidewalk. He can walk on his hands for an indefinite amount of time, or perform virtually any combination or sequence of gymnastic stunts (flips, rolls, swings, cartwheels, leaps, handstands, somersaults, springs, tumbling, etc.) imaginable, no matter how complicated or complex they may be. He can easily top any Olympic record at gymnastics (either on floor or any apparatus, such as rings, flying rings, climbing ropes, vaulting, pole-vaulting, balance beams, pommel horse, trapeze-swings, horizontal bars, uneven bars, parallel bars, trampolines, etc.), aerobics, or acrobatics.
  • Superhuman Flexibility: Having no bones or organs in his body whatsoever, as well as possessing a variety of articulation throughout his entire body, far more than any normal being, the Marionette is capable of bending, twisting, and contorting his body into virtually any shape without harm to himself whatsoever. This enables him to stay in a crouched position for an infinite amount of time and perform virtually any contortionist-type feats without any harm to his body whatsoever. He is triple-jointed, enabling him to bend his body in anyway imaginable. Hence, the Marionette can stretch and bend his body in ways that would tear ligaments and survive impacts that would kill or inflict major injury upon a normal human being with no injury to himself. He can even turn any part of his body (head, torso, limbs, etc.) 180/360 degrees completely without sustaining any harm. He is extraordinarily limber. He can compress his body very tightly, so that he can fit through tight spaces, about 4 inches in diameter.
  • Superhuman Equilibrium: He has the uncanny ability to achieve a state of perfect equilibrium in virtually any position imaginable in any location. However, he seems to instinctively know how to adjust his position in order to maintain perfect balance on any object, no matter how narrow or small it may be. His coordination is beyond superhuman, as he is able to coordinate the entirety of his body in order to execute any task he desires.
  • Razor-Sharp Fingers: His hands possess razor-sharp talons in place of fingers, capable of cutting and slashing through flesh, wood, and even concrete. They enable him to pierce the sides of walls, enabling him to climb up them easily.
  • String Manipulation: The strings on his body are mentally linked to him, thanks to the mystical voodoo magic that enables his mind and soul to live within an organ-less wooden body. Therefore, he is able to control them as he would any other part of his body.
  • Elongation: The Marionette is able to stretch and elongate the strings on his body to lengths of up to 100 feet. He can also completely retract them into his body at will.
  • Mind Control: The strings connected to his arms, feet, and swords are able to connect to any living, sentient being's central nervous system by way of impaling their brains with his razor-sharp strings, and control both their minds and bodies, literally turning them into puppets for him to control.
  • Grappling: The Marionette can use his strings as he would his arms, grabbing and manipulating beings and objects. Each string is superhumanly strong and durable, and all six can lift up to an optimum total of 35 tons. He can even use them to swing from tall objects and buildings.
  • Razor-Sharp: The strings are also razor-sharp and can cut and slash through concrete and brick.
  • Adherence to Walls: The Marionette can use the strings to pierce his hands and feet, granting him ample support to climb walls.
  • Transportation: The strings easily possess enough strength to lift the Marionette off the ground, along with up to 5 people, and transport himself/them over land at speeds up to 50 mph.
  • Psychic Voodooism: The Marionette possesses the superhuman mental ability to pass on infirmity to others by committing acts of infirmity on to himself. The Marionette subconsciously sheathes himself in a form of psionic energy so as to act as a living voodoo doll, allowing him to stick his hand into a flame, while causing his foe to catch fire and suffer the pain and wounds without harm becoming to himself. If he pricks himself with a needle or becomes chopped by a guillotine, or jump off a building, his foes would suffer the consequences. He can only perform psychic voodooism on one individual at a time. He is able to become completely unkillable while performing psychic voodooism. However, if he does not consciously activate his voodooism, he is susceptible to dying from termites, fire, sharp objects, etc.
  • Immortality - Mind Transferance: Thanks to his mass production of several hundred exact replicas of his body, the Marionette can transfer his mind back to a brand new body nearly instantaneously before being killed in any form or manner, essentially making him immortal as long as there is at least one copy left for him to fill.

The Marionette is a brilliant criminal mastermind, contriving complicated and deranged plans that only a mad man could dream of. He is also an expert of his own unique fighting style utilizing his agility, flexibility, strength, razor-sharp fingers, strings, and even voodooism on himself to full advantage. He has become a master of all forms of voodoo magic as well.

Strength level

The Marionette possesses superhuman strength, enabling him to lift (press) approximately one ton (2000 lbs.).

The Marionette, although extremely durable, is susceptible to termites, fire, sharp objects, etc. Also, he becomes brittle under extremely cold conditions, and thus, easily broken during such states. The Marionette was also deemed criminally insane.

Equipment: None known.
Transportation: None known.
Weapons: The Marionette wields two humongous zig-zagged wooden swords of razor-sharpness on his back in the form of a marionette handle. He is able to connect his strings through holes in each sword, enabling him to fight with both his hands and his strings.
