What's the point? I don't even know who, or what the hell I am anymore... What matters to me now, is who you are, and who you wanna become...

Origins
In the dawn of time, a sadistic and bloodthirsty entity simply known as Satan was, by technicality, the first title-holder of the latter the other than the fallen angel Lucifer Morningstar, who used the name after his defeat and banishment billions of years after the War on Heaven. Approximately twelve billion years ago (at least a billion years since the Big Bang, the creation of the prime universe), Satan ruthlessly participated in the Great Billion Years' War in the side of the Allied Empire of Damnation as one of its commanders. However, according to the overseeing Watchers, the oldest beings in the universe, the true origin of Satan was considered to be one of the greatest enigmas, after sensing and subsequently discovering the fact that the entity was from the "non-existent" future due to his presence causing slight tremors in spacetime continuum, making his existence a result of a causal loop, a case that was strikingly similar to the unrelated mystery of the human by the name of Nathaniel K. Richards.
Early Years
Marduk Kurios (born in the early 1950s) was the youngest son to an independently-wealthy religious family in Fire Lake, Massachusetts. As a child, Marduk was often treated as the favorite son among his five brothers, which eventually led for the latter's great distaste for him. As a way of "teaching" their youngest brother a "lesson" of how the world should work hierarchically without directly punishing him, the eldest suggested they should use their influence to send a ten year old Marduk to a seminary somewhere within their city for the rest of their summer, or so did the innocent Marduk thought at first. While Marduk was initially interested and even thankful to what his brothers had done to him, he would later feel the sting of betrayal of his loved ones by the moment he finds out that the so-called "seminary" he was attending was nothing but a convincing facade for its founder's far grimmer agenda: a malevolent satanic cult.
Finding out he was chosen by his brothers to be the latest in the line of the cult's monthly human sacrifices, a heartbroken Marduk tried to flee from his cruel fate but miserably failed due to his emotions overwhelming any of his thought to escape. After figuring out the truth about his brothers' betrayal, the emotional Kurios cried and vengefully cursed out in distress as he is being strapped by the cultists in preparation for the sacrifice ritual, an act that unknowingly caught the attention of the very gods the cultists have been praising all their lives. Sensing a surge of energy flow within the ritual room, the cultists assumed their gods have finally given their graceful blessings to the cult, but unfortunately, the odds weren't in their favor. Rather than be blessed with eternal life, the gods wrathfully smite the cultists, killing most of them, instead and oddly enough, spared the young Marduk, much to the innocent child's confusion.
House of Hellstrom
At that moment, the gods were revealed to be the great and terrible Hell Lords, who proceeded to free Marduk, but at the price of having the latter unwittingly sold his own soul, in exchange for the assurance that he would get the chance to extract revenge on his brothers. The Hell Lords were amused by the child's demeanor, rendering them to take advantage of Marduk's grudge as they bestowed him with powers from Hell, the united source of these gods powers. As Marduk was reborn as the new diabolical spawn of the nether, he brutally and mercilessly slaughtered five brothers by the time he came back home, one by one in different times and circumstances. The more blood he took from his brothers, the more Marduk lost his own soul and now even his identity to the Hell Lords, slowly being replaced by fabricated ones which suggests that he was the reincarnated human form of Lucifer Morningstar, the fallen angel who was banished from Heaven before the dawn of time.
Slowly and surely, Marduk's lust for blood and vengeance emerges, a festering behavior that inevitably led him to also murdering both his parents when they both found the body of his eldest brother, his last victim, within their residence. Eventually having disposed all of his loved ones from the face of the earth by framing their deaths as either accidents or murders under the hands of someone who holds a grudge against the Kurios family, there was no one who could stop Marduk from completely turning into what the Hell Lords have expected him to: embrace his "true" identity as Satan. Growing up, Marduk was never truly alone, and although he was subsequently put into foster care albeit momentarily, all he could listen to was the voices of the Hell Lords in his head, doing their bidding as they please it. By day, Marduk remained to be the innocent, clueless orphan which his peers expect him to be, but by night, he fulfills his identity as Satan by continuing to run the same sinister cult whom his brothers had sent him to, the same one that brought the Hell Lords to Marduk in the first place: the House of Hellstrom.
Satan, Incarnate

Kurios, reborn on Hell as "Satan"
He continued running the cultists as its last honorary member, even changing him name to Marduk Hellstrom by the time he was of legal age. As an adult, Marduk's human side would unexpectedly find himself romantically-entangled with a woman by the name of Victoria Wingate, despite already embracing the identity of Lucifer (Satan) as his "true form." Confused by his feelings and emotions, Marduk tried to call on the "voices," though they no longer responded in the reaches of his mind. Unbeknownst to Marduk, the Hell Lords were tired enough to deal with the former which led them to ignore him during the years he started to run the House of Hellstrom with the intention of rendering him even more insane than he already was. The Hell Lords' expectations happened, though it didn't even last as they expected, after seeing Marduk completely fall in love with Wintergate, thus slowly abandoning his objective as the Devil, as if his human side was slowly reverting back to being a true innocent-minded person that he was, similar to when he was a still child. It was Victoria that progressively opened Marduk's heart, and the Hell Lords couldn't be more displeased by such change that was about to happen to their "demon-in-the-making".
However, it was the Hell Lord Mephisto that thought of a way to solve this benevolent dilemma, and as he knew how strong the love between the two would grow, he used the blooming romance of Marduk and Victoria into the Hell Lords' sleeves, especially by the moment the couple have become physically intimate with each other. On the night of the Marduk and Victoria's intimacy which happened to take place near, Mephisto decided to ventriloquize Marduk once more, representing the unified voices in his head which have now returned. As a seed of their love that was secretly tainted by the forces of evil, Victoria would later give birth to twins: Daimon and Satana, or Ana for short. Unfortunately, Marduk wasn't even aware of this new by the moment it happened, since by then, Marduk was dead. Committing suicide as an attempt to escape the voices which were now haunting him, the Hell Lords used this chance to reshape Marduk's soul once more into their own likeness, a true Hell Lord. In his physical death, Marduk would later find himself resurfacing in a portion Hell, now fully inhibiting the memories of the infamous arch-demon who was once a fallen angel while harnessing every power that can be manifested on Hell itself. From that moment forward, he was no longer Marduk Kurios, for he has become the diabolical entity only known as Satan, the deviant form of Lucifer Morningstar, his supposed former life.
The Hellstroms

Satan taking the form of serial killer Miles Gorney, his last known follower on Earth
In his reincarnated life, Satan became the ruler of his own Hell for ages, even discovering and subsequently conquering undiscovered parts of the cruel, chotic, and apathetic realm. With it, Satan and his legions would frequently clash against the Spirits of Vengeance, slaying hundreds in various periods of time though he was defeated by some who were ruthless and vengeful enough to face him. Such achievements automatically made him an addition to the Hell Lords, as decided by the diabolical members themselves. In no time, Satan's followers (both in Hell and on Earth) grew to more than a legion and thus, he embarked on a clandestine quest to overthrow the current Hell Lords, especially Mephisto, whom he usually finds annoyance at. However, even before Satan could've started his hellish crusade, it was his own "ancestor," the ancient Hell Lord Satannish, who prevented Satan's plans by informing him of his children's existence on Earth, who were have grown up as orphans. Upon learning this, Satan remembered his own memories of impregnating a human follower by the name of Victoria Wintergate.
As a result of Satannish's intervention, Satan returned to Earth, specifically somewhere in California, in search for his children, under the human guise of a wanted serial killer named Miles Gorney, the last follower of The Devil by the early 2000s. Taking over Gorney's body at the moment he killed himself whilst on the run from the police, Satan inhibited his fresh corpse. Finally in human form, Satan proceeded to slaughter the five police officers who were after Gorney, before summoning his non-corporeal followers from Hell to take over the police's bodies which would serve as his assistance in finding his twin children.
Thanks to the police' information, Satan was easily able to track down his children's whereabouts, right after knowing that his illegitimate teenage children Daimon and Ana were involved in two separate incidents involving theft, violence, and destruction of property (after accidentally using their supernatural powers) across their neighborhood in San Francisco, and were currently being held at a juvenile detention center. There, Marduk would finally reveal himself to the Hellstrom twins, freeing them overnight through one of his police followers, much to the twins' confusion considering they're supposed to be imprisoned for at least two more days. While Daimon was still slightly guilt-stricken, Ana felt like it was the luckiest night of their lives upon their escape with the mysterious man that was Satan. The latter, enthusiastic by the fact he had the perfect successors in ruling his realm that would also secretly help him in his plan to vanquish the Hell Lords and take over it.
In doing so, Satan revealed the Hellstroms their own natures as mortals who was "gifted" with the powers of an arch-demon, before training them with their newfound supernatural abilities every night. While Daimon immediately accepted his offer to train them in order to use his more of powers for the greater good, Ana was still suspicious on who their new mentor truly was, something that Satan himself could sense due to their unbreakable connection as father and children. Knowing that being consistently dishonest would only distance her daughter's trust even further, Satan first revealed to Ana that he was their lost father: "Marduk Kurios," who was apparently their mother's late lover. Ana found the situation questionable after first, since she found out the news of Miles Gorney, the man Satan was inhabiting, though when Satan told the truth to Daimon, the latter was extremely overwhelmed with emotion before he eventually he forgave his father now that he came back in their lives, since their mother's death has irreversibly made the twins desolate into despair and loneliness.
War is (in) Hell

Satan's human offsprings, the Hellstrom Twins: Daimon and Satana ("Ana")
Because of this, Satan grew impatient in dealing with secret identities and finally unraveled his true form in front of his daughter, fully convincing her with the frightening fact that she and Daimon are the children of The Devil himself. As Satan continues to train Daimon in controlling and improving his inherited powers, the former teaches Ana with additional mystical knowledge in various forms of sorcery. As time passes, Satan began to sense glimpses of his former memories, which he would later found out to be Mephisto's doing as an attempt of keeping him from unleashing his clandestine crusade against the Hell Lords.
Knowing that the Hell Lords have inevitably discovered his treacherous plans, Satan used most of his unearthly powers to completely diverge his colonized portion of Hell off the rest of the realm into a pocket dimension, confidently declaring war against his former masters now that he has his children to help him overthrow them in the future. However, when Satan thought he had the upper hand in his war against the Hell Lords, he and Ana would discreetly discover Daimon using his powers as a vigilante, something that Ana was baffled to discover since she questions who her father really was, though Satan found interest in by the realization that the Son of Satan actually has pure heart, someone who is not easy to deceive but definitely "fun to manipulate" according to his father. Satan tried to deceive Daimon into darkness with the help of the mystically-gifted Ana, although the latter was internally conflicted and made question her own existence, to which Satan lied to her the assurance that she would be the successor of Hell, despite Satan actually keeping his throne for himself once he overthrow the Hell Lords. For the next several months, the Hellstrom twins continued their training under Satan's tutelage along with him teaching him his principles and perspective on the world based on Hell's philosophy.
Splintered by Lies
Interestingly enough, this led to Daimon being more understanding on his father's mission, though unfortunate for Satan, his son stood for the principles he and Ana's mother had left for them: the principle to look out of others just as looking out for one's selves. However, things have only gotten worse for Satan by the moment Ana found out by herself who Marduk Kurios really was before his disappearance: a leader of the malevolent, human-sacrificing House of Hellstrom. Ana tried to use this information as a way to blackmail his father into telling everything to Daimon, in exchange of him giving Ana a "tour" to Hell to prove he's telling the truth. Satan was impressed, and thus he followed Ana's request on giving her a tour to the chaotic realm, only for Ana to later find out that her sinister father had tricked her when he imprisoned her in his palace in Hell until she loses her sanity, as a "punishment" for trying to deceive the Prince of Lies himself, though Satan also knew it would help his daughter unleash her true inherited powers in no time now that she's ironically in her rightful place. Satan then admitted to Ana that he would tell Daimon the truth of his nature nevertheless, truly making Ana's attempt and effort futile. Making things worse for Ana, Satan taunted the former by lying that the throne was always meant for Daimon only, as a way of fueling her rage-induced powers.
By the time Daimon began to realize that Ana had been missing for days, Satan invited his son on Hell to rule by his side, offering eternal life and power as the Lord of Hell. Daimon, being the noble and selfless human that he was at heart, rejected his father's wishes and using his powers to battle him, he summoned a trident out of netharanium, taking with him a small yet still powerful portion of Marduk's power as he holds him off while searching the realm for his sister, which he succeeded, In doing so, he risked his own life in the process after he was forced to reluctantly fight his demonically-enraged sister, who strangely calls herself "Satana" while in her powered form. After escaping Hell with an unconscious Ana back to Earth, the great rivalry between father and son began.
Hell on Earth
A three months have passed, Satan eventually grew tired of his embittered rivalry with his son and his many attempted deceptions to win over his daughter's loyalty, settling to engage in a ferocious crusade in order to convert the Earth into his Hellish realm as a tactic to overwhelm the Hell Lords in numbers. Inspired by the attempted invasion of the Faltine entity Dormammu on Earth (who was defeated by Doctor Strange), Satan and his sorcery-created legions of demons scorched hundreds of undiscovered realms which he could discover and reach using Hellfire magic and converted thousands of lifeforms into his minions of malice and malevolence, before finally aiming on the endgame of his ultimate goal that was invading planet Earth, armed and prepared against all odds that may come and intervene his invasion. Days before his arrival, Satan used his demonic connection with his children to make them reconsider their initial actions of leaving him by offering them the rightful seats in his throne as he conquers their beloved home. The alerted twins nevertheless rejected their father's offer, denouncing any of the Devil's reasons or motivations despite the fact that they're his children, and rather were now determined to stop him at any costs. Much to Satan's dismay upon receiving rejection, a disappointed Devil assured his children that they'd regret their decision by the time he arrives on the planet in his true form.
Satan felt hatred and dejection as he sensed his children trying to prevent his arrival by seeking the help of the Masters of the Mystic Arts, though they didn't know that he conveniently feeds energy on such negative emotions, something that Satan himself would be using as a strong magical conduit to bridge a portal between Hell and Earth. Unfortunate for Satan himself, his children already knew their father's source of powers and methods to make Earth his Hell, thanks to the teachings of the Faltine mystic sorcerer Clea, the noble niece of the despotic Dormammu. Assisted by some of the Masters of the Mystic Arts, Daimon and Satana entered Hell once again to confront their father, while the sorcerers on Earth hold off the portal to prevent anything getting through from the realm of hatred and suffering. Satan was confused, sensing how hateful his children were when he first sensed their emotions on Earth, before lately realizing that he was tricked. At that moment, Daimon and Satana tried to talk to their father, trying to reveal to him his true nature and identity: his previous life before he was Satan. Guessing that it was another "sham" his children might be trying to pull off to overwhelm him, the Devil initiated legions of his minions to seize his children while trying to continue his visit on the Earthly plane.
Upon arriving on Earth, Satan alone was able to onehandedly defeat and slaughter most of them due to him using the portal he summon as a conduit to Hell which kept him as strong as he was while on Earth. However, it was not long after until he discovered that his own children were able to make most of the remaining minions heel at their command on Hell, thanks to the powers of Daimon's Netharanium Trident (which originated in Hell itself), Satana's seductive arcane and modern magic, and the reality that they're the children of Satan, giving them some access to win over their father's creations to their side. Dragging themselves back to Hell once the portal was fully closed on Earth, the father and children ensued in a destructive battle for the fate of their father. While Satan pursues to defeat his children in order to punishingly enslave them for treason, the Hellstroms fought their father in order to reveal him "the truth," end his hellish charade as a Hell Lord, and bring him back to "who he really was." By the end of combat, Satan was paralyzed though not fully defeated by Satana using various combination of different magic, before the twins revealed the very artifact that would help the three of them uncover the lost truth of their father's origin.
The Painful Truth
Borrowing the Eye of Agamotto from the Masters of Mystic Arts, the latter was used to amplify the Devil's retrocognitive powers, finally showing the family their painful and paradoxical existence. The Hellstrom twins were overwhelmed with the visions, rendering them to break down emotionally, while Satan took a heavier toll being showed all of his lives. Ridden in sorrow and agony, Satan went berserk after realizing that his life was a lie all along, which was ironic in itself since he lived most of his existence as the Prince of Lies. As a result, Satan sought no purpose nor meaning to existence, striving to destroy all of his realm of Hell with his bare demonic hands, taking himself and his children as he plunges into the core of inferno.
Seeing no other choice into saving his father from getting himself and his children killed, the Hellstroms combined most of their strength to conjure a magic spell with the Eye of Agamotto to send out the enraged Satan of the realm, somewhere in the vacuum of space, where he won't die due to his immortal physiology, but he certainly won't be alive as well for a very long time. Despite their attempts to prevent Hell's destruction at the hands of Satan, the realm would still end up crumbling into a singularity upon Satan's absence, initially realizing that their act of salvation was in vain. However, their assumption didn't last long when they started to sense a new ability emerging within themselves and being the son and daughter of Satan, Daimon and Satana Hellstrom basically became both the physical and spiritual embodiment of their father's Hell.
Time Slip
After the his whole soul were scattered into pieces out of time and space by both Daimon and Satana's combined Hellfire and Eldritch sorcery (conjuring it with the Eye of Agamotto) as an effective act of ending his attempt to convert planet Earth into his Realm of Hell, Satan would later find himself stranded at the very dawn of the universe, where he was greeted by diabolical, tactful primordial beings and entities who collectively introduced themselves as the Allied Empire of Damnation. Founded by the Imperial Quadrumvirate: Chthon, Mephisto (whom Satan still holds a slight grudge against despite the former being an past version, Asteroth, and Chaos King, they recruited him into their ranks as a leading general of his own legion, resembling his own armies during the present day. While, Satan's past memories, which he assumed were someone else's memories at the time, started to flash before his very eyes. On that moment, Satan began to question the roots of his true existence now that he started reminiscing different lives at once, before realizing that his existence was indeed a casual loop, it never began nor will it end, even if he dies later on his life.
Amidst the worsening chaos between both sides, the war would on for the next billion years, which covered most of reality in great darkness due to the slow but progressive forces of Chthon in his conquest to most of the young universe in anti-matter using the empire's primordial anti-matter generator (something they acquired from the alternate realm that was the Negative Zone), with the great war seeming like it would last for an eternity, and the worse case scenario of the empire of evil gaining victor and overall control over the universe once they have gotten to slaughter all of beings who deemed to get in their way and prevent their insurgency. Unbeknownst to everyone else but the four leaders themselves, most of their most powerful weapons and source of energy were obtained through the access of several, which included the likes of the Lord of the Dark Dimension Dormammu, and the mysterious powerful goddess by the ancient epithet of the Eternal Empress.
In the very final moments of the Allied Empire of Damnation at the hands of the collective good and noble forces of reality, most of its members, along with their most powerful and dangerous technology & equipment (such as the Anti-Matter Generator and Universal Energy Reactor), were completely destroyed and obliterated from existence and died out, while some others barely survived the ordeal by escaping through other dimensions and realms beyond the observable universe.
Blood Ties
In his failure in defeat, Satan and some of his surviving minions have reluctantly delved into the safety of the Dark Dimension, a realm that was ruled by the Allied Empire's situational ally, Dormammu. While the ruler of the Dark Dimension has instantly converted the Devil's minions into his Mindless Ones, Satan himself was spared after Dormammu sensed a complex connection between him and the former, revealing that they're related though what's stranger was Dormammu had sensed his connection with Satan through the entity Satannish, in which in this time was still in its "fetus form." That moment, Dormammu figured out that his descendant was out of his time, much to his puzzlement for something to arrive from a future that has yet to exist. With Satan realizing how young and still inexperienced Dormammu was that time, the former tried to use and unleashed hell on the realm and challenged his alleged ancestor in combat, attempting to rule the Dark Dimension for himself with this rare opportunity to amass eternal power.
Identity Crisis
The chaotic carnage between Dormammu and Satan in the Dark Dimension ensued, though it still unfortunately ended with the latter's defeat when Dormammu revealed that he sensed the paradox in Satan's existence, thus discovering that the longer Satan stays in the past, the more his very being becomes unstable. Using this to his advantage along with the discovery that Satan was also more than just his demonic descendant (a human), Dormammu eventually got the upper hand in battle when he was starting to get overwhelmed by Satan's raw, reckless power and strength. Now confused by his different memories on determining which one is real, Satan was defeated by Dormammu before the former was banished out of the Dark Dimension, out into the null abyss.
Stranded across nothingness, only Satan's consciousness could keep himself wide awake, surrounded by the fragments of his complicated memories which mainly included: his convincing life as the fallen angel Lucifer, his tragic life as the human Marduk Kurios, and his children on Earth that were Daimon and Satana. Unbeknownst to Satan at first, each fragment of memory he visits had given him a limited access to the timestream, another rare opportunity he impulsively grasped in order to know who he really was before going back to the present.
Throughout the Devil's journey into the flow of time, he risked his own existence encountering various dangers and by witnessing the many (altered and unaltered) versions of the past, present, and future at the same space, just in the pursuit of slowly finding out his legitimate roots without being fooled by his memories once again. By the end of his journey, Satan unraveled who he really was starting from his paradoxical existence to the point he became the Lord of Hell. In between those spectrum, Satan finally reclaimed his true memories as he slowly puts each real pieces into place, remembering, that besides being a powerful arch-demon, he was also a human in his previous life: Marduk Kurios.
Return and Death
By the end of this revelation, Kurios success' to unravel his true self has earned him the access to abandon his painful, tragic, and evil self and return back to the present, on Earth, as just the human Kurios. Knowing that this action of his would certainly cause more destructive ripples in spacetime, he only had one goal and intent in his return: to visit his children one last time. On his way to return to the present, however, he could feel the splintered essences of his old soul (dubbed as "demons") as Satan persistently tracking, chasing, and hunting him down from the edge of space, which made Kurios realize the certainty that his fate is now sealed, no matter what he does in order to escape it.
Time was running out for Marduk, and with his greatest of strength and efforts, he manages to temporarily hold off his demons within the Astral Plane using his magical knowledge, while he barely makes it into Earth, specifically outside the current residence of Daimon and Satana in San Francisco, six months after his failed attempt of invading Earth. Upon his arrival in front of the current settlement his children were staying since (now taking the physical form of his adult self), he came to apologize and bid farewell towards the two despite their bitter hatred yet sorrowful remorse at him, considering the painful reality that he was the diabolical and destructive Devil. Knowing he could never change his past nor his destiny as Satan, he told his children one last time to look after themselves, albeit to their confusion since they have only seen their father's true face in a photograph that was once kept by their mother and Kurios' late lover, Victoria Wintergate, whom Kurios had only thought of by the moment he felt fate coming at him. He closed his eyes in thought, puzzling Daimon and Satana on why he'd act that way.
At a blink of an eye, demonic splinters of Kurios' former self swiftly made their way at the Earthly realm, when each of them gave the mortal Kurios a swift yet fatal strike with their soul-shattering claws, much to the Hellstrom twins' horror to witness their own father be slaughter in front of them. A vengeful Daimon and Satana impulsively tried to fight with their powers especially after the demons themselves had merged into one "superdemon," (as Satana would later call it) though their moment didn't last long until the scene reveals that Kurios' demons had surprisingly caused their own undoing as they took the life of the very soul who gave them essence. As the twins had realized this, they witnessed the demonic splinters painfully shatter out of existence, gone without a trace.
Kurios died in his son's arms, where his daughter would tearfully tend to his fatal wounds, in denial of the reality that it was already too late to save him. In death, Kurios only wanted what was best for his children moving forward, despite the fact that his sole existence had made them go through the worst imaginable scenario a child could possibly get through: being the children of the man who has been Satan his whole existence. Literally living and serving a life of hell, Marduk Kurios nevertheless died peacefully, and upon closing his eyes, he sees a glimpse of the Gates of Heaven awaited for his arrival.

Notes
- Satan was first introduced in a cameo as an adversary of the Ghost Rider and the Spirits of Vengeance, simply describing him as the second entity bearing the Satan name. However, his true origins as Marduk Kurios were later revealed and expanded in the Hellstrom storyline, being a human who turned into a demon and the father of the Hellstrom Twins.
- Though Kurios named himself as Satan after the original title-holder that was Lucifer Morningstar (after Kurios was deluded into believing that he was the latter's reincarnated form), his paradoxical interference in the time stream has caused drastic, possibly irreversible ripples in the history of the universe, making him, by technicality, the one who actually came up with the Satan and used it before Lucifer has. Only omniscient beings, such as the Watchers and the Hell Lord Mephisto, were completely aware of this chronological change.
- In his travel across the timestream in search of finding his true origins and identity as Marduk Kurios, Satan found himself witnessing the many (altered and unaltered) versions of the past, present, and future at the same space. The most notable crucial events he witnessed included the Ultimate War, Armageddon, and Secret Wars, events that has yet to happen upon his return to the (his) present, which was in the early 2000s.
