Early Life and the Avengers

Loki was born in Jotunheim to two Asgardians who were at war against the Frost Giants. At the time, he wasn't named due to his mother dying after giving birth to him and his father giving him away to Odin immediately after his birth and dying in battle. Odin takes him back to Asgard where he was named Alderick Loki Odinson by Odin and Freyja but refers himself as simply Loki.

As he grew up, Odin spent most of his time with his adopted brothers, Thor and Balder Odinson, training them and such while Loki himself was given unconditional love by Freyja who introduced him to magic for she had mastered the art during her youth. This made Loki become enamored with magic and began to practice mastering it under Freyja's guidance but along the way, he would become mischievous and began to play pranks on the other Asgardians which most of them find entertaining while others see him as childish and irresponsible. When Odin discovers his skill, he became skeptical at first, thinking that his power was nothing but child's play. But Loki was able to use his magic to fight alongside Thor when Asgard was threatened by Freyja's older sister, Hela who kills her in a jealous rage, proving to Odin that he is a capable fighter, but he chose to become a hero in his own right.

After Hela's defeat, Loki becomes a full-fledged sorcerer, naming himself the God of Mischief due to his playful nature and would often continue to play harmless pranks on people as well as on Balder who would chase after him while Thor chose to live on Midgard while he remained on Asgard.

Loki later joins Thor who becomes part of the Avengers in most occasions, helping them fight superpowered villains they come across such as the HYDRA and even help their allies, the New X-Men fight the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants led by Magneto.

One day, the Avengers were alerted to travel to Asgard to assist Odin in fighting Mephisto his bent on destroying Asgard and reshaping it in his own image. The Avengers are accompanied by mutant hero, Thunderbird who catches Loki's eye and the God of Mischief falls in love with him immediately. The first impression wasn't pleasing for Thunderbird saw Loki as immature and rejects his advances but that didn't stop Loki. After the defeat of Mephisto, Loki would sneak out of Asgard and travel to Earth only to speak to the mutant despite being shot down.

It wasn't until fellow Avenger, Falcon started to have a proper conversation with Loki, informing him that the reason why Thunderbird kept rejecting him was that he was still reeling in from his breakup with his former girlfriend, Celia Powers. This made Loki rethink what he was doing and when he meets up with the mutant, he apologizes for being persistent. Thunderbird eventually accepts Loki and becomes friends with him as a start. With his feelings for him still remaining strong, Loki eventually confesses his feelings and Thunderbird finally accepts for the latter began to develop feelings for the Asgardian. This caught the attention of Odin and declares Thunderbird as Loki's betrothed, much to his delight. In other words, Loki and Thunderbird are engaged to be married.
