Powers and Abilities

Powers

  • Gravitikinesis: Polaris possesses the ability to mentally manipulate gravitons (that carry the attractive, gravitational force between atomic nuclei), enabling her to control gravity. She can surround any object or person including himself with gravitons and anti-gravitons (particles similar to gravitons but with opposite charge and spin), thus increasing or decreasing the Earth's pull of gravity upon it. Currently, Polaris can exert her gravitational control over a maximum distance of 2.36 miles from her body. Thus, the maximum volume of matter she could influence at once is 6.88 cubic miles. Polaris can use her power at maximum capacity for up to eight hours before mental fatigue significantly impairs her performance, and considerably longer (up to eighteen hours) if she conserves her energy during that time. Since Laura is still young, it is likely that she will decrease these limitations as she ages and becomes even more proficient with her abilities.
  • Flight: By decreasing the pull of gravity beneath her, she can fly at any speed or height at which she can still breathe. However by using her force field generation, she can also breathe in space or at even greater speeds while on Earth. She is able to reach speeds of at least 100 miles per hour and still breathe comfortably.
  • Movement Impairment: By increasing the pull of gravity beneath her opponents, she can pin them to the ground, having made them too heavy to move, or cause sufficient gravitational stress to impair the normal functioning of the human cardiovascular system.
  • Graviton Attraction: She can also cause an inanimate object (such as a 1-foot diameter rock) to radiate enough gravitons to give it its own gravitational field, able to attract nearby matter and energy; often used to distract projectile weaponry and other possible harms to Polaris.
  • Graviton Blast: By rapidly projecting gravitons in a cohesive beam, she can generate a force blast with a maximum concussive force equivalent to the primary shock wave of an explosion of 20,000 pounds of TNT. If concentrated enough Polaris can exert her power to level a whole city.
  • Forcefield Generation: She can also create a gravitational force field around herself capable of protecting her from any concussive force up to and including a small nuclear weapon.
  • Implosion: Laura can create localized gravity fields, placing a gravitronic charge within an object to compress it into a small, high-density mass and then maneuver that gravity charge to propel the object at high velocities.
  • Intangibility: She can make herself and other persons intangible by reducing her or the person's body's specific gravity.
  • Immovability: Polaris can generate a field of gravity around her physical person, which makes her virtually immovable.
  • Superhuman Strength: Under normal conditions, Polaris possesses the physical strength of a well conditioned athlete. However, she can channel vast amounts of gravitational waves through her body for the purpose of granting herself vast superhuman strength which limits are unknown. Whatever those limits might be, she is ultimately able to lift far in excess of 100 tons with ease. She also uses her abilities to lift the objects with gravity, while lifting objects.
  • Superhuman Speed: Under normal conditions, Polaris possesses the physical speed of a well conditioned athlete. However, she can channel vast amounts of gravitational waves through her body for the purpose of granting herself vast superhuman speed.
  • Superhuman Durability: Under normal conditions, Polaris possesses the physical durability of a well conditioned athlete. However, she can channel vast amounts of gravitational waves through her body for the purpose of granting herself vast superhuman durability.
  • Simulated Telekinesis

Abilities

Laura possesses expertise in geophysics, and has earned a Masters degree in that field.

Strength level

Under normal conditions, Polaris possesses the physical strength of a well conditioned athlete. However, she can channel vast amounts of gravitons through her body for the purpose of granting herself vast superhuman strength which limits are unknown. Whatever those limits might be, she is ultimately able to lift far in excess of 100 tons with ease. She also uses her abilities to lift the objects with gravity, while lifting objects.

Weaknesses

Physical Condition: Gravita's ability to wield her superhuman powers effectively is dependent upon her physical condition. When severely injured, her body is unable to withstand the strain of manipulating great amounts of energy.

Notes

  • Laura is the Nexus version of Lorna Dane (Earth-616).
  • Laura dyes her hair green unlike the Earth-616 version.
