Nighthawk on killing Thanos

Early Years

Main article: Kyle Richmond (Earth-61712)

When Kyle Richmond was a child when his parents, Titus and Rosalie, were killed before his eyes, viciously gunned down in a drive-by shooting. He turned his father's investments into a thriving corporation, becoming a billionaire industrialist and creating his notorious playboy persona, and used his wealth to create a bulletproof costume and an arsenal of weapons that he would use to fight and apprehend on those who preyed on the innocent, especially those who preyed on African-Americans and other social supremacists, a honor to Kyle's mother and the rest of his maternal lineage, who were African-Americans. Richmond eventually named his costumed vigilante identity Nighthawk, as a nod to the bird that flew overhead the night of his parents' murder.

Supreme War

Following the end of Supreme War, Thanos then ensured his actions could never be counteracted by destroying most of the planets he had encountered with the explosive device he had his forces implanted on every single one of the planets' core, the Squadron Supreme was finally able to him down on Titan to confront him for what he has done. Enraged and unhesitant for him and his teammates failure, Nighthawk was enraged and snapped from his own morals of sparing his greatest of enemies despite their deserved punishments, mercilessly killing the mad child in his own bedroom by the moment he got the chance to infiltrate the Titanian Palace. The Squadron was extremely baffled and horrified when they first discovered what Nighthawk had done, only for the once "heroic" figure to argue that Thanos was beyond redemption due to his corrupt genius mind, despite still being a delinquent. While some of the Squadron reluctantly accepted what their teammate had done, they had no other choice but to democratically kick Nighthawk out of the team for a while, and figure things out on what to do with him. A guilt-suppressed Nighthawk agreed as they returned back on Earth. Unbeknownst to Nighthawk and the Squadron, however, Thanos' brother Eros was completely heartbroken after finding his brother's lifeless body, rendering latter to declare a "war against the entire universe" to avenge his little brother, starting with avenging his unfair death.

It's been a week since the Supreme War ended with Thanos' murder, Nighthawk went through internal hell after his unforgivable act had given him serious mental repercussions, experiencing guilt and trauma to the point where even considered ending his life, something that his teammates have tried to prevent by condoning to his recovery. The following week when he noticed a perpetual eclipse occurring out of the sudden, Nighthawk was on the top of a building in New Troy when he witnessed that Eros and his legions of raging and ravenous extraterrestrial corps charge from space into the Earth's atmosphere, continuing Thanos' Supreme War under Eros' effective succession. Unfortunate for Nighthawk and the rest of Earth's defenders, they weren't prepared for the chaos and disorder that was about to come. For days, America's Squadron City was heavily under attack by Eros and his forces until most of the Squadron Supreme and other heroes were finally taken down, resulting in casualties mostly among the superheroes and authorities within the affected areas. Nighthawk was seriously wounded by the never-ending troops that kept on attacking every time they take some down.

Considering the murder of his brother at Nighthawk's hands as unforgivable and irredeemable, Eros vengefully slew the hero with his younger brother's Double-Edge Sword, slowly impaling him in front of his weakened allies until completely tearing him in half, dead in silence. Bleeding to death, Nighthawk's last words were him trying to mutter an apology, both to Eros and his teammates. Initially coming to Earth only to kill Nighthawk, Eros changed his mind right after the surviving heroes remained persevere in bringing him to justice, despite being few in numbers. That moment, Eros was finally convinced that humans were more irrational and unforgivable creatures than he thought, slowly agreeing with his brother's supremacist-like philosophy only in a lot more morbid stance.

Notes

  • The week after Supreme War, Nighthawk was completely broken that he finally (albeit indirectly) revealed his alter-ego to the public as Kyle Richmond through various blog sites and news media outlets across the Internet, trying to give himself more and more guilt, much to the Squadron's concern for his worsening mental health.
