Kendra Rivers was the mother of Kione Rivers. Kendra raised Kione all on her own and because of this struggle her son wanted to become a pro athlete to get them some money and free them from their financial burdens. However before this could happen Kendra was sadly killed in a car crash, it was this crash that activated her son's mutant abilities and pushed him onto the path of heroism.
Kendra always thought that Kione focused too much on being an adult too young. She was happy that Kione was a good kid, who wanted to help her out, but also hated the fact that he couldn't be a kid because of it.
