Early Years[]
Born due to the affair between oscar-winning producer Charles Stockbridge and the wife of his household butler Karl Sofen, Marion Sofen Karla Sofen (born July, 1978) was raised during her earliest years believing Karl was her father. Which she spent living in Hollywood, in the mansion of Stockbridge. For her mother and Karl were live in domestic servants. As such she found herself as the playmate of Charles' legitimate daughter Deanna. Who although saw Karla as a true friend the same could not be said for the person in question. For Karla loathed Deanna, especially due to her wealthy status. Since Karla from an early age began to envy the wealth she was surrounded by, yet none of it was her own. Which only got worse after one night when she heard her parents arguing and discovered the truth of her parentage. Yet since Charles' never acknowledged her it only made Karla angrier.
Anger which she took out on Deanna, whose naviete made her all that much easier for Karla to manipulate for her own amusement and advantage. Discovering she had quite the talent in the art as she constantly had Deanna wrapped around her fingers. Though this all came to an end when after Karl Sofen died of a sudden heart attack the Stockbridge family kicked them out of their home and replaced them with a new family immediately. This forced Karla and her mother to move back to Van Nuys, where Marion took several jobs to support her and her daughter. Which Karla only saw as pathetic. Leading her to swear to always put herself first, so that she would never end up like her mother. To that end after graduating from college with a psychology degree she then re-established contact with the Stockbridge family and then manipulated them into handing over all their wealth to her before arranging for their deaths. Giving Karla the wealth she had desired for so long.
Manipulation and Moonstone[]
Despite obtaining the wealth of the Stockbridge family she had so long desired, Karla continued her work as a psychologist. But not because she cared for her patients. Quite the opposite in fact. While treating her patients Karla developed a sadistic taste for manipulating them for her own ends. Thus she continued to do this, until she asked to do a psychiatric evaluation on a criminal, who possessed superhuman abilities, named Llyod Bloch, to see if he was fit to stand trial. Taking the job Karla then hypnotized Boch into thinking he was a grosteque and lonesome monster. Leading him to have a psychotic break, and a trauma so severe the source of Boch's powers, an alien artifact known as the Moonstone, forcefully left his body and then entered Karla's. Who through sheer force of will was able to absorb the power of the artifact, granting her all of Boch's previous superhuman abilities, on top of a few new ones. Faced with this Karla quit her job as a psychologist and then began working as a mercenary for hire, using the alias Moonstone. For she wanted the emotional rush she got from using her powers all the time.
