Kamaria D'Gaya lived a normal and happy life on her home planet, raised by her parents Drax and Ovette, who she loved very much. Things changed when Thanos and the Black Order came to Kryktar to pillage the planet for their resources. Kamaria saw her mother murdered by Ronan the Accuser, and was subsequently separated from her father in the chaos.
She was able to hide safely until the Black Order left, but by then she believed her entire species to be dead. Over time, she began to make contact with the spirits of her species and went on to harness their abilities, becoming a telepath capable of projecting her astral spirit in the form of a dragon.
Tired of living in isolation, Kamaria found a way off her planet and quickly ran into the rogue Kree soldier Phyla-Vell. The two quickly fell in love and got married, deciding to travel the galaxy together as Quasar and Moondragon.
Eventually, they discovered that Kamaria's father, Drax, was alive and working with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Kamaria felt it was too good to be true, and was terrified to face the truth, worried that her father wouldn't approve of who she's become.
However, Phyla convinced Kamaria to face her fears head on, and they sought out the Guardians. When she first came face to face with Drax, he was brought to tears and embraced her tighter than ever before. He accepted her wholeheartedly and was more than happy to welcome them into the Guardians. Kamaria was ecstatic at the opportunity to expand her family, which Phyla was initially jealous of. However, Kamaria was able to remind her that she will always be the love of her life, and now they got to share their love with a family.
