Early Years
Kamaria of Kylos (born 1997) was the only daughter of Drax, a blacksmith and occasional warrior, and Ovette, a psionic knight and astronomer. Kamaria had a loving and blossoming childhood with her parents and her community, until she was ten years old when the people in her planet became the latest target of the Mad Titan Thanos in his twisted quest to balance the universe from the brink of collapse. The planet's population was lined up and randomly divided into two parts. Despite his best of efforts of fighting back against Thanos' forces, Drax was forcibly lined up to be on the other line, but was heartbroken to find out that Kamaria and her mother were happened to be subjected to the other half: execution. Kamaria took the lesson from her father as a hunter and let her self get piled up by the falling bodies the moment the people behind her got executed right in front of her eyes, including her own mother who helped cover Kamaria in the face of death using her the best of telepathic ability to conceal her daughter's presence even from Thanos' telepathic children in the Black Order.
Kamaria thought she survived by sheer luck when the Chitauri and Sakaraans started using their staff's blades to ensure their kill on the piles of corpses, but she would later find out that her dying mother had activated an inherited and once dormant power within her mind. Kamaria later discovered she was psionic, and by instinct she had turned herself invisible to the forces of Thanos, including the proficient general and Kree zealot Ronan the Accuser as well as the telepaths of Thanos' Black Order, who were younger and in-training at the time. In the aftermath of the massacre, Kamaria looked for her father but he was nowhere to be found. A hopeless Kamaria went back beside her mother's lifeless body and heavily mourned at the fact that she was all alone.
Coalitions of Transcendence
Despite losing both her parents, Kamaria grew up with her older cousin Pamyla, who was a survivor. In her late adolescence, Kamaria met a visitor known as the Grand Unifier Raker, the current head of the coalition organization where Pamyla serves as a volunteer not too recently. Invested with her telepathic powers, Raker recruited her to his home world, having been accepted into the ranks of the United Coalitions of Transcendence. Kamaria took this opportunity to venture into the greater side of the galaxy and learn more cultures in an attempt to move on from the painful tragedy in her early life back at her homeworld Kylos.
While traveling in the Coalitions' mobile homeworld Sacrosanct, Kamaria studied the ways and teachings of the Coalition in which she gained a wide variety of abilities from her psionic powers freely channeling the Sacrosanct's energy. Under the training of the Coalition Black Knight's leader, Egeus, Kamaria also learned several techniques of martial arts. Her expeditions with the Coalitions led her into meeting different people of different cultures and circumstances, including Mar-Tyr, the adventurous Kree vigilante and traveler whom Kamaria had a love-hate relationship due to Phyla-Vell's skepticism on the Council's true intentions. Unfortunately, Kamaria failed to realize that the very energy which she started to rely on has also become a hindrance in helping her access her true higher potential. The more she channeled faith energy to use her powers, the more it blocked off Kamaria's memories, preventing her telepathic abilities from accessing the truth about the Coalition and its true name: the Universal Church of Truth.
Becoming the Matriarch

Brainwashed and empowered by Faith Energy, Kamaria became the Matriarch, the temporal head of the Universal Church of Truth
Overtime, the Cardinals of the Church, known publicly as Coalition Councilors, had slowly utilized the faith energy from the Sacrosanct's generators to manipulate her emotions, sealing their attempt to have convert her into a high ranking believer of the Church with the promise that their cause would grant Kamaria the ability to reverse her worst regrets, notably her greatest being the loss of her family which also correlates her suppressed vengeful desire to kill Ronan, Thanos, and anyone else who was involved that fateful day. When Kamaria succumb to her uncontrollable emotions. The final straw came when Thanos became successful in his quest to assemble the Infinity Stones, and upon snapping the Infinity Gauntlet, Kamaria and some of the Cardinals survived by random chance.
Nevertheless, the surviving Cardinals managed to keep the Church running on their own. When life across the universe was in its worse of state, Kamaria was ultimately chosen by the Council of Cardinals to lead the Church as their powerful Matriarch by channeling most of their faith energy onto her power, accelerating their cause of converting more poverty-ridden and "hopeless" souls across the galaxy to their radically religious cause — taking advantage of the mourning survivors for them to have something to believe and serve in the midst of both chaos and silence left by the Titan's Decimation — but still "purifying" the lives of those who reject their faith in the span of a year or two.
Enacting the Infinity Crusade
In the hopeful fallout of the Infinity War which restored half of life in the universe into reality, Adam Warlock's presence was detected by different communities, immediately reaching the now active Universal Church of Truth's radar. The Matriarch assisted the Cardinals as they tracked down and restrained Warlock using her powerful psionic, separating the golden being's evil and notorious side, the Magus from his own body. The return of the Magus made him fulfill the Church's own crusade to reassemble the recently-dismantled Infinity Stones. In his process, Magus created doppelgangers of heroes and villains (including Earth's), and even Thanos' own duplicate, as a part of his plan to recreate the universe into his own image, a universe of eternal and infinite wickedness, feeding on the greatest sorrow and regret of all living things. Combining Kamaria's psionics and Magus' dark magic upgrading faith energy, the Church had reached the threshold of their ultimate cause in a universal scale. Despite garnering the attention of force such as the Nova Corps, the Asgardian Einherjar, and Mar-Tyr, the cosmic power the Church has amassed deemed themselves unstoppable at that point.
However, when the Infinity Watch member and Guardian of the Galaxy Gamora had discover her identity as Drax's long lost daughter, the hero reached out to her consciousness until she managed to convince her the Church's delusions and wrongdoings. In the very end of the conflict, the Infinity Watch, Adam Warlock's allies, would successfully defeat the Magus and dismantle the Church through the help of their internal ally, the Goddess (Warlock's good and noble portion) who momentarily bonded with a liberated Kamaria. The Goddess helped Kamaria unleash the power within her that was previously untapped, unlocking her ability to transform into a dragon which helped defeat the Magus. Paralyzed, a defeated Magus was imprisoned inside the Soul Stone's realm, the Soulworld, before parting ways as Warlock disbands the Infinity Watch in the meantime. Broken free from her state of emotional coercion of the Church, Kamaria could never be more thrilled and overjoyed to be reunited with her father, Drax, effectively recruiting her into the Guardians of the Galaxy. With her family reunion, Drax and Kamaria reconciled with her few relatives in Kylos, wherein the latter would meet her younger sister Camille Benally — whom Drax had rescued and adopted a few years ago after the Secret Invasion — for the very first time.
Majestic Moondragon
Guardian of the Galaxy
During her first few adventures with the Guardians of the Galaxy which involved discovering her ally and good friend Mar-Tyr's true origins and identity as Phyla-Vell. In their attempt, the Guardians were also abducted and experimented by the A.I. supercomputer I.S.A.A.C. programmed by the Titanian-born Kree scientist Elysius, who came after Phyla-Vell due to Elysius being her obsessive "mother" & creator.
When I.S.A.A.C. was programmed to abduct and experiment on the Guardians whilst tracking down Phyla-Vell, Kamaria came under the influence of a powerful astral entity called the Dragon of the Moon which gave her the source of her darkest power. I.S.A.A.C.'s discovery on Kamaria's residing entity made her finally learned through meditation how to balance its power than resist it entirely during the battle against Elysius and the final confrontation and negotiation with I.S.A.A.C. itself, whose sentience revealed its intentions of experimenting on the Guardians. It was on that fateful journey that Kamaria took on the heroic moniker of Moondragon.
The wake of the attack on Phyla-Vell has only developed feelings within Kamaria, eventually leading the latter to her realize how much she had fallen in love with her ally and good friend throughout the past few years that they've worked together. Phyla-Vell tried to shrug off Kamaria's advances at first, but eventually realized that she was fooling herself every second as she was repressing her true sexuality. It took a little time until Phyla would be confident enough to confirm and affirm her feelings for Kamaria, the two would finally pursue what would grow into a healthy and happy relationship.
Joining the Infinity Watch
Around the late 2020s (approx. mid-2026), Moondragon would join the Infinity Watch to close the second Fault, the largest rift in the space-time continuum of the universe opened by Magus and the Universal Church of Truth during the Infinity Crusade, exposing this reality itself to darker alternate universes. The Fault expanded at a rapid rate, threatening to engulf all of reality, something that did not seem to bother a group of extra-dimensional tentacled creatures of arcane and divine origin, in which the Watch had to stop before these beings could metastasize reality itself over theirs.
The issue of the second Fault involved series of struggles and eventual success from the Watch to fend off the Old Ones from entering the Fault, until they were able to partially seal the rift enough that they could no longer enter and conquer their reality. Unfortunately, Kamaria still suffered the tragic loss of her own father Drax, as the latter's significant fearless sacrifice was fighting the corrupted heroes and villains alongside his longtime enemy and situational ally Ronan the Accuser, to give the Kamaria and rest of the heroes enough time to stop and seal the Fault from spreading the Negative Zone's Cancerverse into their universe.
It was during this life changing realization and the heartbreaking loss of her father that Kamaria decided to get married with Phyla-Vell, knowing and feeling that they'll still love each other no matter how far the distance the universe or multiverse would drift them apart as strenuous yet passionate heroes. In the following few years, Kamaria's wife Phyla-Vell came to join her with the Infinity Watch, who teamed up with the Silver Surfer, wherein they would also cross paths with the Eternals and the illegitimate son of Thanos. Together, they would deal with the emergence of two universally powerful forces: Ultron and his imperial mobile techno-organic fleet of Phalanx clashing with the High Evolutionary along with Agatha Harkness, as they suddenly encounter each other in the deepest regions of space, with both conflicting forces abruptly dealing with a greater threat beyond any other being's comprehension that would determine the life of every living speck in the universe.
Powers and Abilities
Powers
Psionics: Kamaria was one of the most powerful humanoid born telepaths in existence, inheriting her powers from her late mother Ovette. Kamaria has repeatedly demonstrated mental psionic energy usage far in advance of all human and human mutants including that of the world renowned telepaths such as Professor Charles Xavier, Emma Frost and Jean Grey. Unlike human mutants such as Xavier whose powers operate as part of their biology, all of Kamaria's mental powers originate from her supreme level of mental discipline, hence her concentration and ability to focus on the accomplishment of that task. All of Kamaria's mental process are largely maintained subconsciously as the power and its effects will continue if she is rendered unconscious or falls asleep as done when her control of an entire planet's populace. But she must always consciously initiate the process for it to be done. She was stated to have a "planetary" threat level by the Nova Corps. However, if Kamaria becomes distracted or unable to focus her mind to accomplish an event, she can be rendered completely mentally powerless. Her mental psionic powers include:
- Telepathy
- Telekinesis
- Astral Projection
- Dragon Form Projection
- Dragon of the Moon: Having an astral connection with the entity known as the Dragon of the Moon, Moondragon gained the ability to transform into a superhumanly strong and durable dragon, capable of faster-than-light speed travel and surviving in outer space without air. However relying on this entity by taking on this powerful form overtime only extends the Dragon's duration and opportunity to overtake her soul, thus requiring Kamaria to regulate herself and clear her mind of any negative intrusive thoughts and tempting desires through meditation before she could concentrate on harnessing her powers.
