History
Growing up, I wanted to be this awesome, beautiful, butt-kicking, and less complicated gal. And ever since I got this curse from my Djinn-praising ancestors, or gift as my friends and family had told me... I wanted to be her. But the people I love, they made me realize I am already those things! But I'm different, and to be a hero, I had to become the best version of myself, which I now know is infinite times better than I would've ever imagined...

Early Years
Kamala Khan was a simple Pakistani-American girl born in Jersey City around January 2006; the daughter of Yusuf Khan and Muneeba Khan, and the younger sister to Aamir Khan. Her grandparents and parents moved to the United States from Bombay during the peak of the Partition of India in 1947. Though respectful of her heritage and tradition, Kamala always felt different; she had nerdy interests as well as finding strong and fruitful friendships with fellow practicing Muslim and eventual classmate Nakia Bahadir, along with her other classmate Bruno Carrelli, both of which were older by a few to several months, although such small gaps didn't hinder the three from forming a friendship in the years to come.
Unfortunately for Kamala, her growing adventurous personality was often challenged by her strict parents, although it didn't stop her growth of love for superheroes, becoming an avid fan of them, most especially with her devotion to follow the career of Carol Danvers, the cosmically-powered superhero formerly known by her informal alias Ms. Marvel, who had recently started going by the official nom de guerre Captain Marvel during her return and unexpected rise to popularity to the people of Earth during and after the averted Skrull Empire's Secret Invasion of 2017. Her growing love and support for superheroes had rendered Kamala to start writing fanfictions about them as early as eleven before posting them online when she was fourteen years old, a few years since Danvers gained following to the public of the Earth's population ever since she became the more renowned Captain Marvel.
In 2019, in the same month as when the Ultimates have reassembled to fight the universal threat that was Thanos. Unfortunately, Kamala would find herself losing her parents in the Snap among half of all the life in the universe, but she and her older brother Aamir had no other choice but to move on with their lives as she dropped off from school to earn money for each other, in spite of Aamir's initial pleas that she stayed in school. However, unlike some of her community who grew embittered due to the failure of the heroes and blamed them for losing their loved ones' disappearance, Kamala's optimism throughout the year has led to her becoming a bigger fan of the Avengers and especially of Captain Marvel, when she and the Ultimates flew back to Earth following their redeemed victory against Thanos, bringing back Kamala's parents into their home, much to her and Aamir's joy and gratitude for the heroes who saved the universe.
Growing up with her closest friends by continuing high school when the state of the world was slowly healing and reverting back to a considerable state of normalcy since Thanos' universal snap, especially since her parents were back, the teenage Kamala would often find herself being teased or ostracized by some of her schoolmates due to her quirky obsession with the Captain Marvel and the Avengers, notably the "nice mean girl" Zoe Zimmer and "tough jock" Josh Richardson, of whom the former had once hung out with Kamala and her smaller social circle until Zimmer's popularity as a sophomore and social media influencer had gotten the best of her. In the following years, Kamala would decorate her room with pictures and artwork of Danvers and even made a Captain Marvel cosplay costume, which was later refurbished by Bruno as per her request.
First Leaps in Heroism

Kamala debuts as "Night Light," new superhero from New Jersey
One night when she was sixteen years old, Kamala snuck out of her house with Bruno against her parents' wishes to attend the first AvengerCon in Camp Lehigh, New Jersey and join the Captain Marvel cosplay contest. Trying to find an unique aspect for her Captain Marvel cosplay, Kamala picked out a bangle newly delivered by her Nani (grandmother) Sana from Pakistan. Once worn, the bangle unlocked her connection to the Noor through her hybrid genetic ancestry, giving her the ability to conjure bioluminescent crystals, something which she and Bruno would settle calling it "hard light." Impressed with her powers after accidentally showcasing them during the Captain Marvel cosplay contest which amazed almost everyone at the convention, Zoe Zimmer — who was also a fellow Captain Marvel cosplayer — immediately approached her for a selfie before swinging around the convention center holding on to a giant, loose Mjolnir decoration, which Kamala had accidentally set loose to begin with. When lost her grip, she fell before being saved by Kamala before she was able to dumbfoundingly leave the convention with Bruno.
After escaping the scene with Bruno, the awakening of Kamala's powers would eventually attract the attention of the Department of Damage Control. Kamala and Carrelli returned to her house as the latter helped her sneak back in through her bedroom window even though they were both curious about her new powers. As Kamala returned home, she realized that merely looking like her idol was not what she wanted at all, but also that rescuing Zoe made her feel incredibly happy, exceeding her dreams and expectations of how it feels to be a superhero. However, it was her mother was waiting for her the moment Kamala got inside her room, with the former telling her disappointment in her and to stop fantasizing, focus on herself, and be the daughter she was raised to be.
A few days later since she began to learn and train how her powers work by using the heirloom bangle with Bruno, Kamala went to visit the latter at his work in Circle Q, but she instead found him dealing with thieves trying to rob the place. Kamala morphed into a persona which the locale had been calling Night Light and stopped the thieves by squashing him, only to be shot as he escaped. Unconsciously morphing back to her normal self as her body healed, Kamala told Bruno about what had happened to her and asked about the robbers. Bruno told her that his older brother Vic had gotten involved with a scientist anonymously known as the "Inventor" and was robbing money for him to keep his experiments running. The Inventor had been preying on the teenagers' feelings of worthlessness and convinced them their only use was to use their bodies to power his machines. The Night Light eventually tracked the whereabouts of the hostages and convinced them that they had worth, and was able to mobilize them to join her as she took the fight to the Inventor.
Embracing Ms. Marvel
Finding Peculiar Roots
A few months since thwarting the Inventor's schemes in New Jersey and defeating the mad scientist, Kamala continued training and operating as a low-profile yet beloved local vigilante when she was soon approached by Najma and her son Kamran, who also turned out as Kamala's new schoolmate. Najma explained that she and her group, Clan Destine, were exiled from the Noor Dimension alongside Aisha, Kamala's great-grandmother, and that they wished to return home to reunite with their makers. However, when Clan Destine quickly turned on Kamala, it prompted her to travel to Karachi to explore her heritage with her mother and Nani Sana, where she also met Red Dagger and learned of the truth and danger of the Clan Destine's plans, revealing that the group were longevous superhuman disciples of the Djinn — namely Elalyth and Al-Shalizar — and their plans to reach their gods' home could cause catastrophic repercussions to Earth. When she was followed by the Clan Destine, Kamala was summoned through time to 1947 where she met a dying Aisha, fulfilled a predestination paradox by helping her younger Nani Sana leave India, before being sent back to her present.
Following her return, she managed to successfully convince Najma to seal a rift to the Noor Dimension that had opened as it would've assimilate and destroy the Earth plane, which resulted in Najma's death. Khan's identity as Night Light was then discovered by her mother, who revealed it to the rest of their immediate family. Returning to her home in Jersey City, Kamala gained overwhelming support from her family, friends old and new, community, and even superheroes, who lent their support during and after her subsequent battle with insubordinate members of Damage Control and saved Kamran from being apprehended by them, with her legal cases as a vigilante being sorted out with advice and assistance from reputed superhuman lawyer Jennifer Walters and altruistic X-Man turned proud mutant public servant Kate Pryde, which helped keep her identity secret only to those who knew Kamala the closest.
Expanding Comfort Zones
After the ordeal with Damage Control was resolved, Kamala had heartfelt talk with her father, who referred to her as their Ms. Marvel, encouraging her to adopt it as her superhero name. Having met up with Bruno and Nakia before the former would leave to CalTech for the summer, Kamala learned that his initial assessment of her powers had been incomplete, and that a specific genetic factor interfacing with her heritage was what gave her the ability to tap into the cosmic energy of the Noor and generate hard or elastic light constructs from it.
Kamala gained new friends in high school as a senior, including her brother-in-law Gabe Hillman and former bully Zoe Zimmer, along with befriending Mike Miller during the annual AvengerCon who discovered Kamala's reputation as the fanfic writer SlothBaby. Ms. Marvel would meet her new villains such as the sentient computer virus named Doc.X, who once impersonated her as Ms. Marvel and tried ruining her life & reputation, as well as Kamala's former schoolmate turned A.I.M. agent, Josh Richardson, someone she'd completely confront along with Richardson's far more heinous employer Monopoly, later on during the Battle for America.
In the meantime, Kamala would come face to face with Kaboom, who's often ridiculed by the name of Boom-Boom, a radical Inhuman terrorist and member of an organization seeking to overthrow Queen Medusa and affirm their views of superiority over humanity. It was also during this time when Kamala was secretly reunited with Kamran, who found his new group since the Clan Destine was disbanded. However, Kamala would later realize that Kamran became a member of the same organization as Kaboom and reluctantly kidnapped Kamala to the island state of New Attilan. Kaboom and Kamran introduced Kamala to the leader of the secret organization, Lineage, whose powers had unveiled to Kamala her true Inhuman genealogy. Lineage offered Kamala a chance to join his coup against the Inhuman Royal Family, and while she was flabbergasted to know the true nature of her powers, she nevertheless resisted and secretly contacted her closest friends, which included Nakia, Zoe, and even Bruno, despite him being all the way from CalTech.
While her group of closest friends came sailing to New Attilan to plead the Royal Family to save Ms. Marvel, Kamala broke free and defeated Kaboom and tried to convince Kamran to stop falling for the Lineage's manipulations, trying to comfort him by telling him that he didn't have to be alone to deal with the grief of losing his mother. Kamran was pardoned and offered citizenship in New Attilan after surrendering, while Ms. Marvel and her allies were thanked by Medusa and the rest of the Royal Family for alerting them about the now failed coup of Lineage, offering their services to Kamala and her loved ones especially after they found out that she's a latent Inhuman. Leaving New Attilan as Kamala and her close friends returned to New Jersey safely, Kamala mused about how fortunate she was to have a best friend like Bruno and even apologized for having him come all the way from California, although due to Bruno's nonchalant response who insisted that he would've come for her whatever her reason may have been, little did Kamala realize at the time that their relationship could be something more than how they started.
Kamala's harmonious interactions with fellow street-level superheroes along with her trainings and service to New Attilan & the Inhuman Royal Family, as well as her collaborations with the X-Men, would lead to her joining the Young Avengers around the last winter of 2025 as one of its newest members, becoming recruited into the team by the recommendations of its veteran member Emperor Hulkling and Ms. Marvel's newfound good friend Arachnid, as well as Captain Marvel herself ever since she has learned and first interacted with Ms. Marvel to thank her for being the selfless and courageous superhero she turned out to be in her own neighborhood, initially in disbelief that that she had inspired someone as young and passionate on Earth to become one. Kamala would even get the attention of the Inhuman hero and S.H.I.E.L.D. director Quake, who was among the few superheroes Kamala has closely befriended in the first three years since she debuted.
Worldwide Superhero
Joining the Godsavers
As Ms. Marvel would slowly venture out beyond New Jersey with her journey and quests as a superhero, the threats she would face would grow stronger and dangerous just as much as she found her newer adventures as exciting. In the spring of 2026, Kamala and her fellow Young Avengers would join forces with superhero teams such as the Agents of Atlas, whom they would team up with to deal with global threats. During the universal crusade of Gorr the God Butcher, Kamala got herself traveling with other heroes across dimensions resided by gods and goddesses to assist the God of Thunder Thor and his supergroup — informally nicknamed the "Godsavers" — consisting of heroes and antiheroes whose powers have channeled or originated from various gods or their realms, to protect the remaining deities on Earth from Gorr and his Black Berserker army's assault.
However, some were reluctant with doing their mission after hearing out Gorr's point about the hubris and self-centeredness of most gods which leads to the hopeless and unjustified deaths of the very disciples who looked up to them. Even Kamala herself saw the point in Gorr's argument firsthand when she and her faction of the group traveled to the Noor Dimension, the very source of her powers, after a connecting journey to the Sphere of Omnipotence in order to warn and protect the Djinn, only to face the arrogance of its two highest rulers: Elalyth and Al-Shalizar. Their confrontation only escalated with Elayth and her fellow council stripping away Ms. Marvel's access to the cosmic light energy almost permanently when the goddess showed her true colors of using her followers or their descendants as sentient powerhouses, revealing how much Djinn hybrids they've reproduced and secretly indoctrinated on Earth as a part of Clan Destine to ensure their survival even if the Butcher ended up raiding and destroying their realm.
Realizing that other factions of the Clan Destine around the world have still failed to realize the dangers of opening portals to the Noor Dimension could bring both to themselves and the Earth, an almost-powerless Kamala and the Agents of Atlas nevertheless stopped the Djinn council with all their might while also convincing most of the Clan Destine not to repeat the same catastrophic mistakes their previous leader, Najma, has done. Their goal were mostly successful after incapacitating Al-Shalizar and was close to reasoning with Elayth to find a better way to save the Djinn, however, their attack was interrupted by the arrival of the God Butcher himself who arrived at the Noor Dimension, ending the battle with Gorr shoving his sword straight through Elayth's chest, killing the mighty goddess, but not before the latter realized the wrongness of her original plans. Although Kamala has suffered a great loss with apparently losing her powers, she found their mission to be worth it in terms of enlightening most of the Djinn after she and the Godsavers managed to fend off Gorr from slaying the rest of them, even though it was enough for Gorr to slay gods that were crucial to a pantheon or society which included Elayth.
Weeks since Gorr's defeat, it was thanks to the Agents of Atlas' discovery that Kamala never really lost her powers; her Inhuman genes were simply reduced by Elayth to a level that Kamala could no longer access and harness the powers of the Noor Dimension without the process potentially killing her. Thanks to the collaborative innovations from both the minds of Future Foundation and Inhuman Royal Family, they were able to reutilize Kamala's bangle through the use of Terrigen Mists which can help Kamala replicate a fraction of energy from the Noor that was safe for her when she harnesses this alternative energy source. While the upgraded device didn't make Kamala as powerful as compared to when she harnessed the Noor, she was nevertheless grateful that she was given a form of second chance to continue her passionate responsibility as the heroic Ms. Marvel.
X-t(In)ction Event
When the mad scientist and one of the Ultimate War's masterminds, Mister Sinister, has returned to villainy with his new scheme in "balancing all life on the planet" through an "experiment of survival," he and his allies subjugated the likes of Mutants, Inhumans, Atlanteans along with many other existing sentient species on the planet through his new series of protocols to cause a global extinction event by unleashing the genetically-engineered Legacy Virus among his other cunning strategic methods that were just as fatal to both ordinary and enhanced humans. The attack began around the middle of autumn in 2026, Kamala was having dinner with her family and friends during one night when their several folks in their neighborhood began to feel sick from the unknown pathogen. Such a concerning phenomenon prompted Kamala and her fellow Young Avengers to suit up and meet up to investigate the surge in infections.
Through the joint intervention of heroes, like Ms. Marvel teaming up with the X-Men and the Inhumans, as well as the voluntary assistance of countless mutant-supporting groups across the globe such as Kamala's allies and supports, they assembled in their respective locales to protect and evacuate the innocent while also stopping the arrival and attack of Minister Sinister's forces and associates, despite some of them slowly experiencing from the virus' symptoms after they've unknowingly contracted them amidst the chaos. Ms. Marvel happened to be one of the unfortunate heroes who got infected after trying to protect her closest friends and family from the attacks of Lineage and his organization of radical Inhumans, who sided with Mister Sinister after ensuring them a place in his vision of a future wherein the planet was only resided and ruled by the strongest of mutates. The villains didn't bother giving Ms. Marvel a second offer to rejoin them due to their previous encounter with her and proceeded to attack her angrily when she was tactically separated from her allies and in her most vulnerable state.
Despite being able to stand her ground, Kamala was beaten to a pulp when they pinpointed her weakness of not being as powerful as she was before, much to her allies' dismay who were just as occupied with fighting both Sinister's clones and associates in different locations across the state. A weakened Ms. Marvel, stilled fueled by her determination and selflessness, was ready to give her life protecting the people in her community against Lineage and Mister Sinister's twisted campaign, although a saving grace came to her when her bangle cracked open, revealing a crystal which empowered her the moment Kamala held her grip on it. Not immediately realizing it was a Terrigen Crystal, Kamala was able to replicate the might of the Noor in an enclosed fist and beat up some of Lineage's men until her will to heal herself slowly led the crystal slowly grew and encased her for a moment, astonishing both her enemies and allies as Lineage himself knew what exactly Kamala was going through that he even tried to disrupt the process out of fear that she may come out as more powerful.
When Ms. Marvel broke free of her crystal the second it collapses, she instinctively counterattacked Lineage's minions with her new set of powers before confronting the leader himself with a knockout, leaving him and his group for apprehension by the authorities before Quake came to her aid, having been amazed yet concerned by her transformation. Upon realizing how fantastic and more marvelous her new powers were, Kamala and Quake would catch up with the rest of her teammates in New Jersey as she revealed herself reborn as an Inhuman polymorph whose abilities were amplified by her restored connection to the Noor Dimension, something that she would feel has been heightened when Kamala would remember how the Djinn Elayth had used her powers on her before her death. Overwhelmed with her new powers after helping out her teammates and allies against the mutated Sinister clones, Kamala would suddenly faint after giving her final knock-out on a clone who tried to replicate her powers only for it to explode into pieces from Kamala's cosmically-powered elongated punch.
Kamala was taken to the nearest open hospital to recover under Attilan and S.H.I.E.L.D. supervision until she woke up a few days later, where she was reunited with her friends and family who tearfully informed her that the chaos was finally over. The efforts of Ms. Marvel, the Young Avengers, and the rest of heroes around the world were victorious in the end of the day Sinister's plans was finally foiled and was defeated, although the devastation of the skirmish costed them a few yet significant casualties among their closest allies in exchange of saving more innocent lives from the brink of death. Kamala was heavily heartbroken to hear about the news that some of her named relatives, including her Sana Ali and close cousin Zainab in Karachi, have passed away after contracting to the Legacy Virus and succumbing to its symptoms while helping their fellow community even before the antidote was completed and mass-produced for the public.
Still feeling heartbroken over the unexpected loss of her loved ones, Kamala would also burst into tears of mixed emotions when she got reunited with Bruno, realizing how grateful she felt that he was okay, despite them not being able to reconnect in the past few years. Their heartfelt moment has finally given Bruno to confess how he truly felt for Kamala after all those years, although he tried to stop himself due to thinking it would come off as disrespectful especially since Kamala loss some of her closest relatives abroad. Kamala almost immediately showed her gesture of reciprocating his feelings as their warm embrace lasted longer than it should, but still agreed with Bruno's realization that she and Bruno were going through tough and trying times at that moment. On the brighter side of reality, their confession to each other only made them realize how glimpses of hope will keep on persisting even in the darkest times. Kamala was more motivated to continue her altruistic path as the all-new, yet still the one and only Ms. Marvel, and restoring her faith on the people she loves and protects to keep fighting the good fight.
