Kamala Khan was only 14-years-old when the forces of Asgard invaded the Earth, and began overthrowing governments. After being separated from her parents, she ended up in a group of children that were exposed to large amounts of terrigen mists in an attempt to empower humanity against the Asgardians. Kamala was one of the only people to develop powers, and she developed her identity as Ms. Marvel, eventually gaining the attention of the Avengers, who were humanity's leaders in the fight. After being approached by Captain America with an offer to join them, she accepted enthusiastically.

Ms. Marvel would later be recruited into the Outsiders when they needed help repairing the cracks to the multiverse caused by Odin. Due to her existing disdain for Asgardians, Ms. Marvel accepted the offer to repair the damage done, but after the mission was complete, she felt the need to return home and continue the fight against her Odin, and his forces. The Outsiders, of course, offered to come to her world and assist her in the fight. Despite being touched by the offer, Kamala turned them down, saying that the people of their Earth needed to win their own fight, and that the Outsiders had other fires to put out.
