The scars have stopped. The degeneration is gone. But for the first time in my life... I'm not dying. For the first time in my life, I realize I don't have to be the man I see in the mirror. I may not be able to forget my past... But I can be someone better. For the first time in my life... I'm alive.

History
Origins

Kaine
Miles Warren was an Empire State University professor who suffered from Dissociative Identity Disorder. After believing he had created a psycho clone called "Jackal," he sought to defend himself from the clone. Present for the battle between Electro and Spider-Man, he became fascinated with the Wall-Crawler and stole of a sample of his spilled blood.
Back at his lab, Miles created a clone that later called himself Kaine. While Kaine had amplified and additional powers, Kaine lacked a Spider-Sense and suffered from cellular degeneration. Considering him a failure, he created a second clone, who would take the name Ben Reilly. When Miles destroyed the lab in one of his episodes, Kaine took the opportunity to escape his creator.
Assassin for Hire
Losing himself to the cellular degeneration, Kaine's loss of morals took him to committing assassinations to survive. Despite this, he still took the time to look after Ben, who he considered a brother. When Ben, now called the Scarlet Spider, was targeted by the Grim Hunter, Kaine took it upon himself to save Ben and kill Vladimir. Scarlet was unaware of Kaine's involvement.
Maximum Clonage
Spider-Man and Scarlet Spider were investigating a criminal duo called by the media the "Spider-Man Twins." They tracked the pair to their lair underneath Citi Field. They were shocked to learn what had become of Kaine, but more so to learn that the twins were actually rotating members of a Spider-Army.
Jackal wanted to use the army to conquer the world, but required Peter and Ben to stabilize the clones. Ultimately, the clones disintegrated in the insuring battle and Jackal escaped. Kaine would later find a distraught Miles Warren and revealed that Jack wasn't a clone, but rather Miles himself. He then proceeded to put his creator out of his misery.
Chasm

As Chasm
Kaine's cellular degeneration eventually started effecting his memories, erasing his formative memories. No longer recognizing the face in the mirror, he was only left with the feeling that Ben and Peter sold what could have been his lives. Seeking revenge against his brothers, he took the codename Chasm to destroy them.
Unmasked, they couldn't believe that how far Kaine had fallen. Despite this, they felt the risk of turning Kaine in was took great, as he could still expose their identifies. Chasm was ultimately apprehended by the Defenders. His lawyer was able to find a way to turn Kaine in without hurting Ben and Peter.
Sym-Soldier Program

As Agent Venom
Chasm was turned into the Sym-Soldier Program, who bonded him to the Venom symbiote. As the symbiote had been previously bonded to Peter Parker, it was able to not only stabilize him, but gave him access to his formative memories. Returned to a pervious state of mind, Kaine took the surname Parker and worked tirelessly seeking redemption.
He eventually learned that his boss was taking bribes. Agent Venom tried too turn him in, only to discover he wasn't the only operative. He was attacked by Carnage and the serial killer separated him from Venom. Kaine was able to return the favor, severing Cletus' bond to the Carnage symbiote before killing him. Turning around, Kaine discovered both the symbiotes had disappeared.
Order of the Web
Laying low, Kaine was recruited by Madame Web into the Order of the Web. Given a specialized stealth suit, and went by the tagline Crimson. He aided in their war against the Spider Society. During this period, he made an uneasy alliance with his brothers. Afterwards, Ben revealed he was going to retire and asked Kaine become the "Scarlet Spider."
Life in Houston

With Hummingbird
At the age of eighteen, Kaine embarked on a number of missions across the globe to take out Sisterhood of the Wasp strongholds. In Houston, he rescued a young girl from a human trafficker called Salamander. After learning her name was Aracely Penalba, he decided to take her in.
Around this time, he started a relationship with Annabelle Adams, whom he would end up marrying. The pair was able to forge documents, allowing them to adopt Aracely. When she developed superpowers, Kaine started training her as his sidekick, Hummingbird.
