History[]

Early Years[]

Born to low-class parents, in a small trailer park community in upstate New York, Jeryn "Jeri" Hogarth (born May, 1966) spent all her childhood struggling. Not only due to her family financial situation, which often made her the subject of ridicule for other kids in school, but also because she never felt comfortable in her own skin. Because Jeryn was born male, and originally went by the name Jerry Hogarth Jr., having been named after her father Hogarth Sr., whom she was actually quite close too growing up. Especially as the man always encouraged Jeryn to work hard and create a better life for herself than the one she was living. While in contrast Jeryn always had a poor relationship with her mother. One that became even more strained as Jackie Hogarth did all she could to get Jeryn to live as a man. Even though she began trying to slowly transition into the life of a woman. For Jeryn eventually came to terms with the fact she was female. Even if the gender she was born with didn't reflect that. This realization led Jeryn to feel comfortable with her own body for the first time ever. It also gave her a huge confidence boost, leading her to soon getting top grades in school. Despite her worsening home life as her father was diagnosed with brain cancer and his condition rapidly deteriorated, while her mother used this as an opportunity to try and control Jeryn actions. Disgusted by her mother Jeryn became even colder towards her, and then right after her father died, a few months after his diagnosis, left home. Heading for bigger and brighter things as she was accepted into the law program of Cornell University. Since Jeryn had wanted to be a lawyer since she was young.

Transitions[]

After entering college Jeryn not only worked hard to reach the top of her class, but also began the process to transition her gender to that of a woman. Where along the way she formed her first true romantic relationship with a music major and cellist named Kith. Until she eventually broke it off with her after meeting medical student Wendy Ross. Who worked with Jeryn towards her transitioning dream. All the while they still both worked hard in regards to their respective careers. Hard work that paid off for Jeryn in more ways than one when the business mogul Wendell Rand took notice of her and not only made her an intern at his company Rand Industries, but also offereed to pay for her gender reassignment surgery. Since Randall admired how Jeryn was unafraid to live her life and go for what she wanted. Flattered by this Jeryn accepted both of Wendell Rand offers and soon became an intern at his company, where she became close to a young Daniel Rand, as well as the female she had been longing to be in body for so long within her mind. Where after Jerry took on the name Jeryn Hogarth. But used the nickname Jeri, in honor of her father.

Success & Superheroes[]

After her sex change operation Jeryn became even more fearsome, relentless, and confident. Leading her to graduate top of her law school class, then marry Wendy, and even adopt a young daughter named Millicent, all the while starting and building up her own law firm with two of her former law school classmates, Linda Chao and Steven Benowitz, the three of them creating Hogarth, Chao, and Benowitz, LLP. Where after this occurred Jeryn encountered hero turned private investigator Jessica Jones, who she hired to investigate several cases for her firm, the pair forming a good working and professional relationship. Jessica was also Jeryn first introduction into the superhero and superhuman community. Which she would become increasingly involved in for the rest of her law career. For after encountering Jessica Jeryn found herself reuniting and assisting a now adult Daniel Rand, who had returned to New York City and needed help reclaiming his family company. A task Jeryn was able to assist him with, once again involving herself with the legal work of Rand Enterprises, who became a client a her law firm.

A few years after this Jerryn found herself defending the local superhero team the Defenders from prosecution, given their heroic activities and won their case. Allowing them to continue to operate. But as public opinion on heroes changed Jeryn told her clients to step back from acting so forward in their heroic actions. But not to stop them entirely and instead do so through her newly conceived plan known as the Heroes for Hire. Where her clients could legally employ their powers to fight crime. An idea all of them loved. As did Jeryn, who stood by them every step of the way as she believed heroes were needed.
