Janet van Dyne grew up living a simple life in Ohio. However, her life was changed when she had a chance encounter with agents of AIM who were smuggling Terrigen through the country. She ended up exposed to the mist, and ended up evolving into her true form and unintentionally grew several stories tall. Potts International was on the scene within minutes, and quickly debriefed Janet, recruiting her into their plethora of heroes.
After serving as a low level hero for some time, Gigantica auditioned to become the newest member of the Squadron Supreme after it was announced that Doctor Strange was retiring. Gigantica won out against all the other heroes, primarily for diversity reasons, due to her being both young and a woman.
Gigantica quickly became shocked by the reality of what it meant to be in the Squadron Supreme. She was objectified by Blur, diminished by Iron Man, scolded by Captain Marvel, and shunned by Captain America. It wasn't exactly how she pictured her first day going.
She would later find herself awkwardly placed in a relationship with Potts International's highest ranking scientist, Hank Pym. However, Janet felt next to nothing for him. One day, while trying to have a normal day away from the Squadron, Janet met Scott Lang at a smoothie truck in the park, where they accidentally ran into each other and spilled smoothie all over the other one. Laughing about it, they each offered to pay for the other's smoothie and ended up getting to know each other, both of them completely unaware that they were members of opposing teams, the Avengers and the Squadron Supreme.

Trivia
- Gigantica is the newest member of the Squadron Supreme, and Doctor Strange's replacement. She was the third replacement, following Blur and Spider-Monkey, who replaced Ion and Hulk, respectively.
