History[]

Early Years[]

Janet Van Dyne (born March, 1976) was the only child and only daughter of the world-renowned scientist Vernon Van Dyne and his wife, highly successful Filipino fashion designer Reyna Santos. The pair having been introduced by Vernon's brother and his wife. The textile Magnate Blaine Van Dyne, and the talented fashion designer Amelia Van Dyne. Born into a wealthily family Janet wanted for nothing growing up, which allowed her to pursue her passions and hobbies with ease. Which encompassed both fashion and science, since the young woman had inherited not only her mother's vibrant creativity but also the intelligence of her father. Though Vernon would never get to see what his daughter would accomplish, since he died when Janet was only twelve years old in a car accident. The stress of which trigger Janet's latent mutant abilities to manifest, which bestowed her with a variety of powers such as: the ability to reduce her bodily size, organic wings that allowed her self-sustained flight, and the ability to produce bio-electrical blasts of energy. But along with these new powers came side-effects, namely ones that caused Janet to develop insect-like behavior and traits such as the ability to lay eggs and actually eat insects. The revelation of these facts sending her spiraling into a deep depression, given how she knew the world viewed Mutants, and with her father's passing on top of it all. Though with the unwavering support of her remaining family, who didn't view Janet any differently despite the fact it was now known she was a Mutant, the young Van Dyne was eventually able to pick herself back up.

After this occurred Janet and her mother moved to New York City. Where she quickly made a name for herself among New York's upper echelon, alongside her cousin Jennifer, and began leading the life of an affluent and opulent socialite. All the while working to understand her new Mutant powers. But also getting back to work on her passions, namely fashion design. Where with the assistance of her mother, and aunt, Janet was able make her fashion debut and created several successful designs before she even reached her eighteenth birthday. However despite her success in the fashion world Janet decided to go to college with the goal of following in her father footsteps and entering the world of science. As such she easily got into the school of her choice, where she earned two doctoral degrees by the time most of her classmates were just finishing their bachelor's degrees. After this she took some time off, and took a trip around the world. Even getting in touch with her Filipino routes in the Philippines. But upon her return to the states Janet's life picked up speed once more, when she was offered a chance to work for S.H.I.E.L.D. which she took.

Days at S.H.I.E.L.D.[]

While working for S.H.I.E.L.D Janet found herself attracted to her fellow scientist and co-worker Henry "Hank" Pym. Not at all scared off by the fact he had a daughter. So with that she began to slowly start to pursue him, and eventually she reciprocated his feelings, the two beginning a relationship. Which didn't at all sit well with their fellow colleague Monica Rappaccini, who was in fact a member of A.I.M., who had been sent undercover to learn all she could from Project: Rebirth, while simultaneously sabotaging it from within. Which she intended to do by seducing one of the projects leaders, Hank Pym. Until Janet beat her too it. So with that Monica decided to out Janet as a Mutant to all their colleagues, after which she began facing rampant racism. So much so it caused her to start drifting back into her depressive state. That is until Hank publicly voiced his disgust over her treatment, and still wanted to pursue a relationship with her despite her Mutant status. This saved Janet from once again falling. After which in 2005 she and Hank both abandoned S.H.I.E.L.D and got jobs at Grayburn College. Right before getting married, and the birth of their child, Hope.

Wonderous Wasp[]

A few months after setting into their new lives as a family Hank revealed to Janet his most heavily guarded secret the Pym Particles, and their size alteration properties that were similar in nature to her own Mutant powers. Understanding why Hank didn't reveal his discovery while they were still working for S.H.I.E.L.D., given the treatment she herself received in her final days of working at the organization, she didn't chastise his decision and instead began helping him study and research the Pym Particles. Eventually leading her and Hank to discover the Microverse, or Quantum Realm. But more than that Janet realized how she and Hank could be doing more to help the world with not just the Pym Partcles, but with also her own powers. Janet having slowly influenced by the actions of the heroic mutant team known as the X-Men. Then one day things took a turn as while out with her family she stumbled into a robbery being committed by the Mutant criminal Whirlwind, and seeing the authorities couldn't handle him Janet for the first time used her powers in a public setting and battled the criminal and defeated him. Feeling a sense of great accomplishment. With that she began working to and successfully convinced Hank for the two of them to become a superhero team, Hank taking on the name Ant-Man, while Janet herself took on the codename Wasp.

Avengers[]

A few years after becoming superheroes Janet, along with Hank, found themselves being called in by S.H.I.E.L.D. assist in locating the Tesseract, which had been stolen by the Asgardian Loki. So answering it, despite the couples turbulent ending with the organization, they found themselves working with Tony Stark, Steven Rogers, and Bruce Banner, who had also been called in to track down and retrieve the powerful object. During this operation they ran into Loki brother Thor. Then all of them, along with S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Natalia Romanova and Clinton Barton eventually found themselves fighting off an invasion by the alien army known as the Chitauri that Loki had summoned to New York, and after emerging victorious Janet and her fellow heroes decided to make their team arrangement a permanent one, thus founding the heroic team known as the Avengers.

Rest & Recovery[]

After defeating Ultron, and having spent months battling against his offensive, Janet joined Hank in taking a temporarily leave from the Avengers to recover. Especially since she had developed a slight case of PTSD during the months of fighting. So with that they headed for their San Francisco home. Where they soon encountered a man whom Janet would help Hank convince could become a hero in his own right. If given the right chance.

Trapped In The Quantum Realm[]

Janet after years of fighting in the Quantum Realm

During the final battle of the Secret Invasion of Earth by the alien shape -shifting race known as the Skrulls Janet found herself using her powers to shrink down to microscopic size to disable a bomb placed by undercover operative Citri Noll. However she wasn't fast enough and the bomb exploded, though her fellow Avenger Thor was able to contain the devices immense energy. Which should've killed Janet. But instead it force her deeper into the Quantum Realm, after interacting with her Mutant physiology, than she or Hank had ever ventured before.

Once there Janet quickly found new friends and allies in the form of the Micronauts. As well as new threats she could not sit idly by and let her new comrades battle alone, due to her still present heroic nature, despite her own predicament. So with that Janet became a freedom fighter for the people of the Microverse and soon found herself facing off against the likes of Baron Karza, Lord Gouzar, Psyklop and his masters the Dark Gods, Psycho-Man, and even Kang The Conqueror, who had been banished to the Quantum Realm after losing a battle against one of his numerous alternate timeline selves. Janet continued fighting on for years, but also never gave up on returning home. Which she was finally able to succeed in doing after getting a message to Scott Lang, who relayed it to Hank and the rest of her family. Allowing them to open a doorway between her area of the Quantum Realm and their world. Giving the size-changing heroine a long overdue reunion with her loved ones in 2023. Who then helped her and the Micronauts secure peace across the entire Microverse.

From Hero To CEO[]

After returning home, and seeing how much had changed, how the people she cared for had grown, but most of all how she herself had time to think, Janet decided to retire from the life of a superhero. Especially after the death of her close friend and teammate Steven Rogers at the end of the Secret Empire events. Janet did not want to pass away like that. So she stepped down from the Avengers, knowing the team was in good hands, and got back into her first loves. Fashion and especially science. The latter of which led her to form her own scientific research company with Hank known as Pym Laboratories. So she could change the world in other ways.
