History
Wolverine was used as a living weapon for Weapon X for over a decade. He was eventually approached by Mephisto and offered the chance to escape, if he agreed to become the new vessel for the Ghost Rider. Wolverine agreed, and was imbued with the power of hell. He used his newfound power to slaughter the entirety of Weapon X and began going on missions for Mephisto.
He would eventually be recruited into the Renegades by The Outsider under the promise that if he returned to his home reality, he would fail to kill a target and Mephisto would revoke their deal, and trap his soul in Hell for eternity. Agreeing to become a Renegade, Ghost Rider went on several missions with the team, before eventually encountering an alternate version of Dormammu, who obliterated him from the inside out.
